How to Market Consistently on Instagram

Kelly Alhooie (host) explains how to be consistent marketing on Instagram by addressing mindset, practical production hacks, and time management. She recounts early discomfort showing her face on camera and gives specific tactics that helped (putting a photo by the camera, having her husband ask unscripted questions, writing prompts on a mirror). She outlines a five-stage content pipeline—plan, film, edit, post (with captions), and study results—and recommends time-blocking. She treats 2,000 views on a video as a practical success threshold, contrasts in-person workshops with online reach, and promotes a monthly social-media kit that includes the top 150 hooks for pelvic-health audiences. The tone is candid, encouraging, and prescriptive.

For me, when I started out, I absolutely hated showing my face on camera. I couldn't talk on camera. I couldn't even say my name on camera. I had to put on my makeup on camera. And I just was like, oh, my God, this is so unattainable because it took me a whole full day to just, like, say, one video. And I was like, this is so stupid. I hate it. But then I realized I can't show up like that because it's not how I show up every single day, and I won't do it. So basically what I had to do is just say, okay, I'm going to show up like this. I'm going to show up with this acne and rosacea or whatever the heck's on my face, and I'm just going to show up like me. And I don't really care. And I just got to, like, give people freaking value. They don't care about my face. They care about them. So they care about, can I give them value to help solve their problem? Great. Then they're going to listen to me. And if I can do that, and hopefully I do that. Well, for you guys, that's my goal, is I really, really try to give you just straight up, just, what can you do next? What can you do next? Let's keep the ball moving and give you tips and tricks so that you can continue to grow your business, whether or not that's online or brick and mortar practice. I do both and I coach both. And so Instagram wants you to have great content so that people stay on the platform and they will pay you, by the way, if you monetize it. But that's just later when you. When you get more followers, you can do that. But, you know, you gotta understand how to use Instagram as a massive marketing machine. I use this example a lot because I was one of these people, and I didn't realize it until I didn't have any time. So I was the person that. I absolutely love doing workshops. I love talking to people in person. I, you know, workshops are my jam. I convert well in workshops because I can connect with people. And I just. I don't know, I just love people online. I'm like, I have to talk to this phone. Like, this phone doesn't give me any feedback, doesn't smile at me. It doesn't. Doesn't look at me. I have to look at myself on this phone. Like, I just, you know, it doesn't give me any feedback. Then talk to me. So honestly, what I did Was I printed out a mom that I had leakage with at this Burn boot camp class, and I put a picture of her, honestly, at the my camera. And I was like, okay, maybe if I act like I'm talking to her, it's become more natural because me talking to my phone, I was like, this is so stupid. I can't do this. And it just got. It was just weird. And so I was like, okay, well, that's not gonna. That's it. I tried it. It slightly works. That may help you. I mean, you know, that may be a tip where you put the person that you're trying to talk to, like, literally on your phone screen, or you print them out and put them on, you know, your right by your camera. Another hack I did, which for me worked out well, was I do best. And part of this is like, knowing what you do best. I do best when people just throw random questions at me. I can talk a lot easier that way rather than, like, coming up with, like a script to say and talk about it. Like, I just do better right off the cuff. So I like when people ask me questions because then I can just, like, my head just starts going and it starts working. So for me, it was like, hey, by the way, husband, can you ask me these top 10 questions that I. That I came up with? Can you ask these questions? And then I didn't plan out the answer, so I was like, I'll just answer them when the camera's on. And so he would say it. I would answer. I would, like, say. He would be like, okay, let me give you an example. He would say, what. What was the hardest thing you ever had to endure in business? And then I would repeat it back. The hardest thing I ever had to endure in business was understanding how to hire and fire people. And then that right there, I would cut into a clip and then post that clip on Instagram. That's it. And it was just more natural for me rather than me like, okay, I have to say these words and. And then I have to stick to this topic and I have to do this and blah, blah, blah. It was just like, I was just to try to say, like two lines. And when I'm saying this, I'm not kidding, two lines took me like three hours because I was trying to say each word over and over and over again the same way that I wrote it out. Sometimes I would even, like, put it on a mirror and write with a Sharpie or the dry erase markers, put it on a mirror, write it out, have the Phone directly in the mirror. Don't just stop when it gets hard or you don't stop when you're like, so uncomfortable. That's key. And so when it comes to being consistently marketing on Instagram, I would say the biggest thing that I also had to learn was just blocking my time. Well, before even that, number one, I had to do a mindset shift. I had to say social media isn't stupid, which I truly did believe. I believe social media was for all people that wanted to get attention. And I wasn't that kind of. I wasn't that kind of person, which is accurate because you are on Instagram to get attention to help bring awareness to your brand. Okay. But like, I just didn't want to be that person. I just wanted people to naturally, like, have a connection in person. And that's why I'm such an in person, because I love doing events and like, I just like online stupid. And I even said this, I was like, you can't even make friends online. Like, why would I want to put myself out there online when I can't even be friends with them? And the reality is you actually can be friends with people online. You can, you know, DM them and become friends with them and learn about them and. But I just thought it was so stupid because they weren't in front of me and it didn't feel like a human connection. Now after been doing it for a couple years now, it does feel, feel more human. Like, like, oh, I did make an impact in this person's life. Like, cool. Oh. And it wasn't actually in person. Oh, by the way, and this person lives like across the usa. Like, that's cool. But at first I wasn't grasping that that was a thing. And I just thought it was like for all these attention seeking people. And I was just like, that's just not me. I don't want to do that. But the reality was I was just uncomfortable with it and I needed to do it. So basically, if you're uncomfortable with it, hear me out today you need to do it. That's huge. So I think that's, you know, that's major. What else do I want to say about being consistent? And then I would say number two is then time blocking. Time blocking. So there's a couple stages here that I think people forget. The first stage is like, number one, trying to plan the content. Number two, taking time to film the content. Number three, editing the content. Number four, posting the content, coming up with a caption of it, which already should be Created based on when you're planning it out, then number five is you have to study the content. You have to study what works. If something has over 2,000 views, guys, to your videos, then I say that as a winner. So 2000 views. If 2000 people have seen your video, that means to me you've made it. Okay? You cannot reach 2,000 people in a workshop. It doesn't happen. So, I mean, I don't know, I've never put on a workshop with 2,000 people. But if you're able to reach someone with 5 minutes, 10 minutes of your time making one piece of content and you get 2,000 people. This is the difference between in person marketing and online marketing. And I don't think many of us grasp this because I was one of those people, I didn't understand it, I thought again, it was just stupid. But now I'm realizing it's going to take me less time, which we all want. Don't you want, don't you want your time back? Most of us want our time back. That's why we got into business. So if you want your time back, you have to become good at social media. You have to be. Because if you are good at it, and look, I'm not the greatest, but I'm decent, okay, if you are good at it, then you're able to attract the people because you are bringing awareness to your brand. That's all this is about. If you are not good at it, you can start in person and doing the workshops. There's nothing wrong with that. The problem is you will get very tired doing that. And every single one of your weekends will be taken up by workshops. And by the way, in the startup phase, you may have to do that. And that is 100% okay. Because you are giving, they are meeting you. There's nothing like in person. It's the deepest connection that you can have with someone the fastest that they can trust you as in person. So I absolutely love that. The problem is it will wear you out. It will wear you out. So if you are not good at being online, I highly suggest you start doing that. We, by the way, if you guys are looking for something, we have a social media kit, no joke, that is up to date every single month, gives you the top 150 hooks that will get your audience to pay attention to you. Specifically for pelvic health. No one's doing this, by the way, okay? Our target audience is actually on Instagram and Facebook, so you can post on both. This is, this is so important and I really want you guys to understand that. So you got to change your mindset around. You have to change your mindset around, like, social media, stupid and whatever. Maybe I'm just talking to myself. You got to change it around. Social media is a free marketing tool that if you're not utilizing it in 2025, you have missed the boat because it's free. You're never going to get a time like this ever again. You will not. It will change the AI, which I'll talk about another whole podcast on. So utilize it. It's a low hanging fruit. You got to just get uncomfortable and just do the thing. But if someone sees you live like this, or if someone sees you, you know, just on a post constantly, they're like, oh, okay, I know this person. Or they look up your stories like, oh, I know this person. But an ad won't do that. So to build trust quickly with people, social media. So get after it and have a good night, guys. Bye bye. What's up, guys? Welcome to Pelli Biz Podcast. I'm your host, Kelli Elihui. Today we're going to talk about how to be consistent with marketing on Instagram. I know most of you guys are like, ugh, Instagram's a chore. Trust me, trust me, trust me. About three years ago, I started with zero followers for Pelvibiz. And probably about five years ago, I started with zero followers for Orthopelvic. And I thought, oh my gosh, there is no way I can build this thing. And this is already after the boom of Instagram, where you just posted something and so many people would follow you and all that kind of stuff. It's all almost like TikTok, you know, where at first, if you were posting, you got get so many followers. Now it's harder to get those follower reach. But the followers that you do have now typically are loyal followers, because they're actually following for a reason. So do not get discouraged if you're just starting out on Instagram with zero followers. I was there, trust me. And no, I did not have some overnight explosion with both companies. And to just get followers, it just didn't happen for me like that. Yes, there are some videos that can go viral and that can bump you 2,000, 3,000, 4,000. But it's not like all of a sudden, one video goes viral, and then now you have a follower account of over.
