Kelly describes: starting as a solo hustler seeing up to 50 patients/week (Kelly 1.0), learning to delegate and prioritize health (Kelly 2.0), investing heavily in personal health and systems (Kelly 3.0), and shifting focus to technology and systems (Kelly 4.0). Main takeaways: reinvent yourself each year, prioritize health to sustain business growth, hire and delegate early, build repeatable systems, and adopt technology to scale and stabilize outcomes. I'm your host, Dr. Kelly Alhui. Today I'm going to talk about why you have to have different versions of yourself and every single year you got to switch it up. So back in 2020, I call it Kelly 1.0. Kelly 1.0 was a hustler. Kelly 1.0 was someone that was very poor, had lots of pain, could never sleep or hormones were all crazy. And I was really not, you know, just not well, in general, just kind of with all aspects of my life. And you know, that's a moment when I was working for someone else and I did not have orthopelvic going at that time. And I realized by working with someone for someone else that I had to start putting my own effort into me and my company. Because the way I was going is I probably wasn't going to make it, no joke, because that's how kind of sick I was. So Kelly 1.0, the hustler, had to start grinding even more to start orthopelvic. And so basically in 2020, all the way through January, all the way through December 2020, I was the grinder. I was the doer. I was treating between anywhere between six to nine to ten patients a day by myself, no admin, no pt, nothing like that, that is the grind. That is, I mean, true hustler mode. And that is not sustainable. So if you're, you know, listening to this and you're someone that's like, man, I feel this because I have been on the grind, then we've got to switch up the version that you are coming and presenting with and create a different version of yourself to then progress you. So I could have just stayed in Kelly 1.0 because I knew how to do the task. I was a very good physical therapist and I could have just stayed doing the task because to be honest, it is actually easy for me to be a treating physical therapist. It really is. How many years of school do we go to? Like, we went through like with seven, seven years, right, to become a physical therapist, not to mention pelvic health, physical therapists. We even have all this other training on top of that. So it's actually very, very easy for us to just treat patients because that's all we've been taught. And as I started to realize this business game was not really truly about treating patients. It's actually how you communicate to patients on what you do and how you're going to actually get them to to achieve their goal. Then I started realizing I have to have a different skillset. I have to become a different person. So once 2021 rolled around, Kelly 2.0 came out. Kelly 2.0 started to realize that she was still burnt out even in her own practice because I was seen at that time in 2020, I was seeing 50 patients a week by myself with no admin and no other pts and I was running my practice. It was insane. I highly recommend you not do that. And I did it for months, like months and months because I was just so scared to try to pay someone because I was poor for such a long time. Kelly 1.0 was very poor and I didn't know if I could take on that responsibility of paying someone. And so 2.0 came out in 2021 and 2.0, really, I had to really focus on my health. My health was the game changer. I feel like I had to hire. I had to realize that I needed to now basically start delegating. Hiring was huge. Hiring is very scary. It's a very scary step because now you feel like you could just do the task, but instead of you just trying to do the task, you have to delegate the task and also be able to teach the task and teach it well so that whoever is coming into that spot gets it. I also, in 2021, I had to then pull out of patient care. I pulled out of patient care because I started to realize I have to do higher level skills. So even though it's super easy for me to treat someone one on one, I get joy out of that. I honestly, I truly love it. But I Started to realize that if I were to do that, that actually takes up my energy when actually my employees need my energy or actually I myself need my energy to then answer all the questions, to do all the things that it does take to run a business. And so still in 2021, I really wasn't too focused on my health just yet because I was just like, look, if I take care of myself or if I put time on myself, I. That's actually taking away from my business. This is a false belief that I had. And for those that are out there that do not take care of themselves, I'm telling you right now, do not let this become, you know, your truth or your belief. I really don't want this to be your belief. I want your belief to be like, if I focus on my health, it will only give me energy to then only progress my business. That's what you need to be telling yourself. That's the story you need to be telling yourself. So basically, I pulled out. I started pelvi biz in 2021 as well. So I started a second company in 2021, and I had to start reaching out to people online and start that conversation. And I kind of played still around with my health, but I wasn't that consistent. I knew I wanted to make the change and I knew it'd be. I started to be like, yeah, this could be really beneficial, but I really wasn't doing that. So then in 2022, first of the year, January, Kelly 3.0 came out. Kelly 3.0 really took her health to the next level. I hired on a personal trainer. I now hired on a chef to cook meals. So that everything, there's basically no way to mess up. Every single thing is planned out and built around my health. And when I started to do that, remember at this time now I have two companies I have to run. I now have way more energy to run both of those companies than I did when I was working for someone else, not taking care of myself, and especially when I was Kelly 1.0 and just started my practice. And I actually have more time on my hand, believe it or not, adding another company. I have more time in my hand because I've learned how to time manage. I've learned how to delegate, I've learned how to hire to get my time back. And I've learned that creating systems will actually get my time back as well. So I've just gotten better, as you can see. I've gotten better, I've gotten smarter, I've gotten more efficient. I start to become this machine that is better seasoned, I guess, or, you know, I, I've just seasoned. I know how to make things work in a way that works for me and not really against me. That takes away my time and that's what I want you guys to get and understand. And I would say out of all this, Kelly 3.0 is what I'm actually super happy and excited about because my health has actually given me the tools that I've needed to progress things forward in both businesses. And I'm just super, super thankful for that because a lot of people will just shoo shoo the health side of it and say, no, I need to focus on business. This was me. I'm not judging anyone. But in reality, you've got to put your effort into your health because no one's going to take care of you. No one's going to pick you up off the floor when you're lying on the floor because you can't move because you're so tired. Only you yourself can get the energy that you need to make things move forward. That's it. And you know, also I had to learn in my 3.0, I started having to learn tech and now I'm kind of at Kelly 4.0 to where tech is my main thing for the next year I'm going to learn systems. I'm even better systems, tech, be more present online. That is my goal. I have to keep leveling myself up because I know the people I coach, they want to continue to level up. So I've got to, you know, be better myself. I got to start stepping, studying things more. I've got to start learning more so that I can bring that back to my people, my pelvic health people, and teach them and level them up above a lot of other healthcare workers. And I gotta level myself up. Personally, I'm not really a tech person. I don't really, you know, love tech. I'm not, I didn't grow up like, I'm not that young, so I didn't grow up with like all these iPhones and all this kind of stuff. But I've now realized I actually have to start really knowing tech and if I'm on the forefront of that, that can only help me grow my business and it can actually act as an employee. If you have a good, you know, tech or a good system that will only accelerate things because technology, it doesn't get tired, people get tired, technology doesn't. So if I can invest in technology that doesn't get tired that's only going to work 24 hours a day. That's actually going to progress my business faster without, you know, people being like, my kids out with COVID today, or, you know, I'm sick today, or I don't feel like coming in, whatever it may be. That system is not going to talk back to me and it's going to keep reproducing the same outcomes, which is amazing. So I'm super excited about Kelly 4.0 because I really see lots of growth to be had and just, you know, progression of we're already at here. So I say this because I really want you to dive deep and think, where are you at? Are you at 1.0, 2.0, 3.0, 4.0? Where are you at and wherever you are this year, and this year can be June to June, it can be January to January. Whatever your year consists of, whatever you did in that last year, you have to do something different in the year, the next year. You have to. If I were to stay at Kelly 1.0 just treating patients, what do you think would have happened to me? I would have been so tired, I would have been so burnt out. I would have probably not been sleeping at all. My hormones would have been a hot mess. I probably would have honestly been probably 50 pounds overweight, no joke. And I just would be struggling to get out of bed. I could tell you that right now, honestly. But this is why you have to keep reinventing yourself every single year. What can I do differently to progress myself? That's going to also progress your business. It's going to also level you up in life and just keep pushing. So, you know, I really want you guys to think about this, where you're at and what do you need to do differently to make you kind of stand out compared to other healthcare workers or to compare it to other pelvic health pts. What are you going to do differently? What version are you, Are you going to pull out 1 through 4, 1 through 5? What version? That's where I'm going to leave it.
