Is Being STUCK Holding You Back from SUCCESS?

Kelly Alhooie argues that the traditional healthcare system and provider-focused model are broken: reimbursement pressures, time-limited visits, and narrow training prevent holistic care and contribute to provider burnout. She advocates that licensed providers (MDs, PTs, OTs, chiropractors, nurses, midwives, NPs) transition into coaching—including group coaching and teletherapy—to increase access, improve outcomes by addressing lifestyle/stress/relationship factors, regain time and income, and better solve patients’ root problems. She uses clinical examples (erectile dysfunction, pelvic-floor conditions), cites practice gaps (limited pelvic-floor clinics), and ends with a direct call-to-action (text her) and sponsor mention.

You're not stuck in the system. You're not stuck burnt out. You're not stuck only having between 30 minutes to an hour long with your patients. Why are we sticking to what this system has taught us as providers? Why are we not opening the doors into coaching? Coaching is the way that is the gateway that's going to allow you to not be burnt out, be limited in what you can do and allow you to effectively and efficiently treat any patient for any issues by being a coach instead of a provider. So why are we all stuck on the provider title that we all have? And why don't we get out and all become coaches? So this episode today is about why you should become a coach and why we really need to let go of the provider title. And I'm talking about all across the board. I'm talking about MDs, PTs, OTs, chiropractors, nurse, certified nurse, midwives, NPS. I'm talking about every single person that is a provider, us letting go of that title and actually becoming a coach. And I'm going to start first with the system, the system that we are all trained in, no matter what kind of doctor you are, the system has taught us that we have to see patients one on one because of hipaa and, and everything has to be by the minutes. And as we realized, and reimbursement on all fields has gone down, down, down, down. And we know UnitedHealth Care is making like six, I don't quote me on this, but like 624 billion or million dollars. I think it's billion billion dollars this year in profit. Okay, as we know that reimbursement's going lower and lower. What are we going to do? To me, this is a wake up call for every single provider out there that is listening to this. Wake up. Everything is shifting. Everyone wants a doctor in their pocket. They're tired of dealing with the old way through the insurance company and us providers. We have to change. We have to change. We have to do things so differently than what they were taught in school. And in school they taught us the way that of how to get reimbursed with through insurance. And they taught us only how to effectively treat based on insurance. So if you're an md, they taught you the medications that could potentially help these patients get over whatever issue they're having. But they did not teach you nutrition, sleep, stress management, they didn't teach you any of that to not get to the point where you need the medications Right. If you're a nurse practitioner, they didn't teach you anything about hormones in school? Nothing. So now when everyone wants hormones helps, these are all extra classes that people have taken to now be that practitioner in that. But no one was really taught how to handle female hormones. Mind blown. This is how messed up the medical System is for PTs and OTs. Everyone thinks again, the Doctor, the title that they have is like the greatest peaches and OTs. What they didn't teach us is how to actually do things outside the box besides prescribe exercise and manual work. Like same thing with chiropractic, besides adjustments. And I know chiropractors actually are, I feel like better when it comes to branching outside the box because a lot of times there's other treatment options that they can provide. But we've all got to take note from them. We got to take note on how they have branched out and have gotten out of the box a little bit. You know, some have, some haven't. And it's not that to me, some of you guys are going to be like, well, you're going outside your practice guidelines. Screw the practice guidelines. It literally puts you in a box and it says you can only do it this way from umph years ago. The reality is so many things has changed since then and if you specifically are not doing things differently, you will die. You will die because you're going to have to change to keep up with what the demand is of what the patients want now. They're not stupid anymore. They can actually go find answers online. So before we used to like go to the doctor and like whatever the doctor said, that's exactly what we're going to follow. But these days that's not how that works. And you guys should see that too. When people come in and you're treating patients, they're going to question you a little bit. That's good because they're like, hey, well Google said this or now ChatGPT said this. Okay, awesome. Well, let's talk about that. Or hey, here's this research article. How many times the patients brought you research? This is research article says this. So what do you think about this? And they want your opinion right there, like on the spot. And so all this has changed and the healthcare system does not work anymore. It is completely broken. So I'm here today to inspire you to not be afraid of it. Don't be afraid you're going to lose your license. And I always say this too. If you lose your license, what's the big deal? Then you could really be a coach. These days. There's other ways besides being in a doctor's office traditionally and help serving patients. So why wouldn't she want to help more people? Why wouldn't you want to do it better? Why wouldn't you want to provide more access? Well, guess what? Coaching actually does that. Coaching allows all of that. Coaching allows you to put all the pieces of the puzzle together. In medical school, we are all taught that, nope, you have to go through this, do these special tests, do this, and this equals this. But we know that's not how the human body works. The human body, you have to put every, all, every piece of aspect of their life together. For instance, we treat erectile dysfunction. Okay, Someone can come in with an erectile dysfunction function. It could be as simple as lack of blood flow because they're lifting maybe some heavy weights, okay, at the gym. And then they were going to sit all day long. They're engineers and engineer brains. Again, I don't have research on this, but from treating over 10,000 plus patients, I can tell you if someone's an engineer, sits all day, they have a lot of times an issue with erectile dysfunction. It's not a given, but a lot of times that's the, that's the truth. And I truly believe it's how they focus on the computer. And something about that brain pelvic floor connection is, is why they tend to have that erectile dysfunction. And so I'm saying this because that's just one aspect. So from a PT OT perspective, they may come in and hit it from, oh, we must lengthen those muscles. An OT also might come in and be like, well, let's work on how you're sitting because that's your daily function. Okay, well a chiropractor might be like up. It must be coming from your back. So then let me go treat your back. And we're only going to treat your back. Okay, Then a MD is going to treat it from, oh, it must be that you're losing testosterone. Maybe even MDs that you know is really uneducated. They may treat it from that aspect. Or let me, hey, let me just give you some Viagra pills. Is that solving the problem? No, it's masking it. We're not getting to the root. Maybe a do is like, well, maybe we'll look at your testosterone. Okay, well let me try to give you supplements for, or maybe some testosterone for that. But here's the thing, here's the thing. What's missing out of all of it? Everyone is just going right to the problem. They're not asking about holistically the whole entire picture. They're not asking the guy, what's your stress level? Like? Hey, did you have a recent breakup? Hey, what's your, you know, what fantasy do you have? I need to know this because this is how a lot of times males perform. How's your work situation been? How's your relationship been? Do you think any doctors are asking about how's your relationship with your partner? No, they're not. They're not asking about stress levels. Hey, tell me about your workout routine. I'm curious about that. When did you start really noticing this? These are things that, as a coach, I am not going outside my bounds. Okay. Okay. My boundaries. But what I am doing is putting all the pieces of the puzzle together. And I'm not staying in my box just saying, up must be those muscles down there. So I'm only going to treat that. That not effective for the patient. Nor is it effective for you to get the outcome that both of you guys are looking for. So if you put your coach's hat on and you start looking at it from different lenses, that's what a coach does, then you're going to get different outcomes, and typically they're going to be better. And yes, I've treated many patients with erectile dysfunction through teletherapy. How it's because I've trained them on what to do and walk them through. Mentally where they're stuck, mentally where the block is. Okay, so it can be physical, it can be mental, it could be both, or it could be a heart issue. Yes. Where they need to say cardiologist 100%, which is why, as a coach, you don't have to do everything. And I'm not saying on this podcast you need to do something you're uncomfortable with. I'm not. That's not the point of this podcast. The point is that you need to do things that are. You've got to think bigger and outside the box. And if you're uncomfortable with it, then who can you refer to that maybe a colleague that. That you. Then you can connect with and be like, hey, by the way, can you let me know what your findings are? Because I'd be curious because I got to put all the pieces of the puzzle together. That's a coach. The coach takes everything into consideration when it comes to purely just providers of doctors. Y' all know it because y' all are like me. We do not have time to put the pieces of the puzzle together because of how quick, quick the medical system works. Okay, Now Some of us are lucky. We have an hour at the patients, but still, you're typically back to back. So if you're getting information from this person and this person and this person to sit down and review it, that's another 30 minutes. Well, you don't have time in between patients to review that. We're just. I'm just being honest. So if you truly want to effectively help the patient, the model has to be completely different. This is why I am hell bent on group coaching lately. Because I know group coaching not only is going to get the provider the money that they need to make to pay off their student loans, and it's also going to get their time back so that the provider has more time to like, actually research and do the things for the patient. Okay. And maybe even like, you know, go to the bathroom. But the patient will have just as good enough of outcomes because they also have a community that has the same issues going on that they can lean on and be like, you too. Me too. Yeah, I get you. You know how good that feels when I, when, when you feel supported. As most of you guys know, I had this crazy face issue where I had a staph infection on my face for over three years. Not one quick interruption. For those that have questions on today's episode, please, please text my personal number. It's 703-783-2388. I'd be happy to answer any questions that you have to get you unstuck. Let's get back to the episode. One doctor could solve it. If I was with someone else that had close or similar face issues that I had, I'd be like, what are you doing? I'd be talking to him every day. I'd be like, what are you doing? Tell me what's what, what's happening? How'd that work out for you? Okay, I'm going to try that. Blah, blah. Like, that would be so motivating rather than thinking, I'm the only one that has this problem and there's no help for me because I've seen 12 different providers and not one of them have had an answer for me. No. Lonely, that is. You know how disappointing that is? Know when what happens? When it starts limiting your whole entire life. I couldn't go out in the sun. I couldn't work out. I couldn't. I couldn't do anything. I couldn't go to social events. Like, I couldn't do anything. And if I had a buddy that was like, hey, because they were in my same, like, group or you know, cohort thing of us trying to heal together. Like, you know how amazing that would have been? So, like, think about that if you guys are scared, because I know most of you on here are like, I'm freaking scared to do that because of my license. It's bs. They have fooled us. They have fooled us. Guys. I can tell you right now, I currently have a student in one of our programs, okay, that is literally making more money than most of y', all, most of the treating pts out there. And she's a PT student. She graduates in December. Okay? She's making more money than most physical therapists out there right now. Why? Because she's coaching. She's coaching. She's learned to use the skills that she already has to then go ahead and start helping people. And so now she's seeing this and she's like, kelly, now can you help me help these people in PT school? Like, really start making money before they get out because they become coaches? Yes, I can. Because that is part of the mission is us to get out of the traditional health care model. It doesn't work. And for all those that are so afraid that something is going to happen to you, what's the worst that could happen? Nothing. No one can come after you. If someone was going to come after you, sure, they can take away your license, maybe, but. But why do I need the license? You don't need the license to please your parents. I'm just being honest. For an ego. For yourself. I don't know. This is why we must become coaches, guys. We must become coaches so that we can go outside the box and truly help these people actually solve their problem. And not just, oh, that's a symptom. Let me just try to manage that for a second. No, we're not symptom management. We're actually problem solvers. And that's what I want. Everyone that's listening to this become the best problem solver. And if you become the best problem solver, you will never live a day that you're like, oh, I don't know how I'm going to get money. But if you do not change, the system will eat you alive, and it will make you burnt out, resentful, angry, mad, all the things, because, A, you can't treat the way you want, and B, you're freaking so frustrated because it's just not what you thought it was. And plus, if you work for someone else, you're never going to make above, like, 85k a year. As a doctor, you can't survive on that in these days, you just can't. So what, are we all going to wake up and say, no, we've had enough. Why can't we treat someone in another state? Why? They have a problem, they reach out to me. Why can't I treat them? Yes, I can. I'm going to coach the crap out of them and they're going to have freaking amazing results. I'm going to coach the crap out of them and they're going to have freaking amazing results. So I think most of us need to wake up and not be so scared and not be so intimidated and, and do things differently. And the people that are willing to go outside and be the brave ones and like, be like, yes, I believe in this. I'm going to stand up for the freaking patients. All y' all stand up for the patients all day long. But you need to stand up for what's right for the patient to actually get help by the people that they want help by. And that's you because you have the Solution. We know 25 million people in right now in today's world has leakage. They have leakage. 25 billion. Do you guys know there's only 700 pelvic floor practices across the U.S. did you guys know that? 700. So that means that there's a crap ton of people that have problems that are not getting their problem solved. Why are we not group coaching them? That's what I'll leave you with today. Why are we not group coaching them? And why aren't you the one stepping up to the plate to be able to do that? Guys, if you have questions, text me at 703-783-2388. Text me and we'll talk soon.
