Pelvibiz Podcast #135 Filling Your Cup

Kelly Alhooie (host) leads a short Pelvibiz podcast episode prompting business owners to identify what makes them happy and to audit whether they currently do those things. She offers personal examples (family, beach, Pilates, being around successful women), asks listeners to list and evaluate happiness activities, and stresses integrating passion with business rather than opposing it. The episode closes with encouragement to decide a timeline for change, put systems/resources in place to enable desired activities, and to pursue long-term goals that bring daily happiness.

What's up, guys? Welcome to the Pelvibiz podcast. I'm your host, Kellie Allahui. Today I'm going to talk about what makes you happy. What makes you happy. So it's a really good question that I don't think most business owners ask themselves. So have you ever thought about this? So if you are listening to this, if you're in the car, if you're at home, I really want you to think on this episode of what actually makes you happy. So for me, when I was doing this exercise, it was, you know, hanging out with my husband and my dog, being at the beach, having nice weather, being around very successful women. I just like to be in those environments. I like to put myself with really higher level, just people and business owners. And I just love being around people that want to continue to grow. Like, that's what truly drives me. I like to do Pilates and walks and just have new adventures and, you know, travel sometimes. So to me, that is what truly makes me happy. Now, when I have a list of that, and hopefully you guys are thinking of that as we go through this episode, Okay, I want you to try to make a list. So follow along with me or do it later or whatever else, but you're just going to put down what makes you happy and then you're going to go through and you're going to audit it and you're going to say right now, in my current situation, the things that I'm doing, am I doing anything that on this list that makes me happy? And if you are not doing anything on that list that makes you happy, then your cup is at a zero. And guess what? You cannot run business like that. You cannot grow like that. You're going to be freaking miserable and you will burnout and crash and burn because you're not doing anything that fills your cup. And you know, this is just an honest conversation here. Okay? We've got as business owners to be able to do things that fill our cup. Now here's my next question. If you don't change anything right now, will you be happy? If you don't change anything right now, will you be happy? That's what I want to know. Some of you may say yes, some of you may say no. But I guarantee you there's probably, if you're listening to this podcast, there's probably something that you want to change and that's okay. So here's my next question to you. How long can you continue to be unhappy? If you're unhappy, if you're not. If you're just happy, great, then this is not the podcast for you. Turn it off and go the next, next one. But if there is something that you want to change, there's something that you're not happy with. Now, this doesn't mean you have to be depressed and hating life and whatever else to be unhappy, but if there's something that you want to change, then this is the podcast today for you, talking to you. Then how long do you want to continue to be unhappy? Do you want to make a change now? Do you want to make a change from six months from now? Do you want to make a change from 12 years from now? What is the cutoff? What do you need to do? It's another question. What do you need to do to do the above things? What do you need to do to do the above things? So if I'm like, hey, I want to go hang out at the beach and just take a breath or whatever, what do I need to have in place that I can go to the beach and take a breath? Maybe I need to have staff. Maybe I need to have things, systems and running effectively. Like, what do I need to make that happen? I need you guys thinking about this. What about, you know, if you're not. If you're not doing the things that you want to do, then you will not continue in this entrepreneurship journey. Because it's just. It could be brutal sometimes. And what I tend to find is people go really hard, and they're like, I can't do this anymore. And they just lose their traction, they lose their momentum, and they're like, this isn't making me happy at all. I got into this to make me happy. It's giving me the life that I want, and it's not giving me that. And that's when you got to dig deep and say, how am I going to do things that actually make me happy? And you got to think about it, because most of us, like, I always. I said this to one of my. To my coo. I said, you know what? No one ever asks the business owner, how can I help you? How are you doing today? What. What can we do for you? No one ever asked the business owner that. So just be mindful of that, that no one is going to ask you that if you're a business owner. And that's okay. But know that you have to actually ask yourself the question, are you okay? Are you happy? Are you doing what you want? And if you're not, today's the day we got to change that. So this is why I'm asking these very important questions, to get you to start thinking, hmm, If I'm not, then how can I do it differently? How can I do it in a different way? Right? And so that's what I want you to think today. This episode really is just about happiness. And are you truly doing what fulfills you in life? And a lot of that could be business. And that's fine. There's nothing. I believe there's nothing wrong with that. Okay. I believe there is no such thing as, you know, work, life, balance. It's just an integration. So if you're able to integrate what you have a passion for, which may be something in the business, or maybe it's something in your actual personal life, that then you create a business around it, you're winning life. You're winning life. But if you create something that works so in opposition of what you want in your life, you will hate life. You will hate what you're doing. You will give up on what you're doing eventually. You really will. I don't care how much money the thing brings you, you will give up on it because it's just not worth it. You'll decide and you'll say, you know what? This just isn't worth it anymore. So today, this episode, like I said, is really about thinking and being able to truly audit where you're at and where you need to go. And also, if you're not happy, I need you to dream. This is where I need you to really, really dream and think about what can be possible. What can I do? Because you can truly have whatever you want. You just got to make sure that every single day you wake up and you keep going after that one thing to get to the happiness. And it may take years, it may take months, it may take days. More than likely, it's going to take years. And can you just stay in the game for that long? I think that's huge. So, anyways, I just wanted to come on and do a quick episode here on happiness, because I don't believe many people think that they can have it all with, like, a business and parenting and just being a human and all the things. And I know we all can. It's just, are we moving towards things that actually make us happy instead of just like, ugh, the neighbor's doing it. So I'm just going to do the same thing just to copy him. Because I guess if he's doing it, I should be doing it type thing. No, you got one life and not that many hours in the day. We really don't have that many hours a day. I wish I had like 48 hours in a day. There's so much that we can do, so much of it can bring us joy. It's just, how are we doing it? I think that's my lesson of the day is make sure you're building a business that creates happiness in your life and continues to bring you happiness. Now, I'm not saying every single day is going to be rainbows. I'm not saying that, I'm not giving you a false hope that everybody, every single day is just going to be like, woo hoo, the easiest day in the world. No, you're going to have the toughest days ever in freaking entrepreneurship. But if, if, if it can give you about 50% of the time happiness and the fact of doing the things that you want to do, then you are winning the other half. Yes, there are going to be times where you're grinding it out. Yes, there are going to be long hours. But if you have those long hours and you're doing what you want, it will bring you happiness. So something to end on today is, are you happy? And are you doing the things that make you happy? I'm talking to all you business owners today that probably anyone that's listening to this needs a hug. But so virtual hug here. Okay, Virtual hug to any fellow business owners. But please just do what makes you happy and don't look at other people and just go for it and dream massively big. Like, I think that's my message today. Just, just do the thing, really understand and think. This may take you hours to think what makes you happy? Because no one asks you that question. So today I'm asking you that question, what makes you happy? That's where I'm ending. Bye, guys.
