Raise Your Hand If You Want To Be Amazing!

Kelly Alhooie leads a motivational leadership session that urges participants to aim for excellence rather than ‘average.’ She emphasizes the importance of public-facing content (learning to speak to a camera), deep self-awareness, and deliberate leadership practices. Kelly introduces a leadership self-assessment questionnaire (items rated 1–5) covering product/service knowledge, confidence, sales/marketing systems, hiring and accountability, company culture, compensation, support teams, personal values, onboarding and replicable systems, leader development, and regular team meetings. The talk mixes practical examples from Kelly’s experience (hiring mistakes, running a leadership ‘pack’) with interactive prompts to the audience.

Who in this group wants to be average? Anyone? Okay. Who wants to be freaking epic and amazing? Anyone? Okay, Lindsay, double hands. Now I need hands like this, not like this. Me. Okay. Leah? I like it. Okay. Jensen's like, I don't know. I'll give you a cute smile. Jensen, do you want to be epic or what? Okay. Yes. All right. That's what I thought. Most of you guys want to be freaking epic. Yes. That's why you're here. Otherwise, you want to be here. If you want to be average, then please go take a Con Ed course and go somewhere else. Okay? But we want to be freaking epic. We. We want it all. We want to be known for being great. Does anyone want to be known for being great? Okay, Loretta. I see that hand. I like it. Okay, okay. Well, if you want to be known for being great, guess what the great leaders in today, guess what they do the most of. They sit in front of a camera and they look directly at it and they talk to it. And they spend literally about six hours a day looking at a camera and just putting out and communicating and talking and putting out content. Do you guys know that the top CEOs, that's what they do. They don't. They don't. They're not behind the scenes trying to press all the buttons. They are literally looking at a camera and literally going, okay. And just talking to the camera. Is everyone following? What are. I need you guys to think right now. What are most of you all doing right now throughout your day? What are you doing? Put in the chat. What are you guys doing? Dawn said treating in front of patients, training employees. Treating, working. Okay, well, this is the thing. You can't do that. I need you guys to think bigger. I need you guys to get out from the patients. Because if you want to be epic and you want to be known, you literally have to learn how to talk to the camera. And at first it is very awkward because you're like, this thing does not talk back to me. It doesn't smile at me. It doesn't give me any energy. Like, how the heck am I supposed to do this? Okay. But the top CEOs and the people that are known the most, it's because they know how to talk to a camera. That's it. Okay. Jenny says I need to make the priority and get out of my comfort zone. Exactly. Do I? Guys, have you guys practice in the group. To me. Okay, great. That's good. Okay, now put it out there. Okay. And the more you guys do it, the more comfortable you're going to get at it. I hated this camera. I hated it. Two years ago I actually was like, I'm galley like, I know it's hard to believe now, but I really could not talk to a camera. And so I had to put your faces literally on like where my camera's at. I literally had to put your faces on the back of my phone. Think I've shared this before because then it made me feel like I was talking to someone. Not just like the lens, you know, so awkward. So if that helps you do that. Okay, so I'm gonna put in the comment section, I'm gonna put a questionnaire right now. It's for leadership. So I'm gonna pull it up and I need you guys to just take it from, take it from there. And you could just copy and paste it on like Word or you can just look at it in the chat. But I'm going to copy and paste this because I wrote it out. Okay. On if you are good at leadership. Because this is very important if you guys want to run a big company. If you want to. Not even a big company. If you just want to run a company. Well, is this not going to let me do it because it's too many words. I'm going to do it in chunks. Hold on. It's too many words. So I'm going to go through these guys now. One means you disagree and that like, yeah, you're just like, no, like I, I really am not good at this. Five means you agree and you're freaking amazing at it. Okay? So I'm going to go through these and I'm going to read them aloud. And I need you to really think about this because this is going to play into who you are and who you need to become. Okay? Today is less tactile. Just so you know, if you haven't figured that out yet, it's less tactile and more thinking and self development. And let me say this too, before I go into this, the biggest thing that I have learned in business, after having the highest of highs and the lowest of lows, guys, the more you can understand yourself, which what we're doing today, the faster that you're going to be able to take anything in your life. Your relationships, friendships, business, it will go from here to here. But you've got to understand who you are and you've got to understand your weaknesses. So I'm going to get into it right now. So number one, I need you to rate yourself. So copy and paste what I put and then we're going to rate ourselves. So, number one, I fully understand our service and product, both its strengths and weaknesses. Okay, so do you understand one means no and five means yes. I'm a rock star at it. Number two, I consider myself a confident and capable leader. What do you think? Number three, my sales and marketing systems work smoothly and consistently like a well oiled machine. Number four, I'm clear on what quality and traits I look for when hiring someone new. This to me was very hard. Does anyone else feel that way? This was really hard. Yeah, Jensen. Well, you're right at that point, yeah. Number five, I've set up clear accountability systems that everyone knows and follows. This is also very hard. Do you ever think you'd have to have a system to hold people accountable? Guess what? That's just a different level. Number six, I create and live out positive, winning company culture. How do you show up, guys? And if it's just you, most of you guys on this call, by the way, it's just you. So I need to think. I need you to think about you. Do you show up positively for yourself? What does that look like? Okay, do you show up positively or are you like, oh, today just sucks. Another sucky day. Number seven, compensation plan is motivating and keeps the team engaged month after month. Do you guys have a business that is set up to where you can actually compensate your people or are you pricing your stuff so low that you're like, crap, I can't pay my people anymore. You don't ever want to be in that position. Trust me, it's not fun. So that's why I tell you guys to price your stuff where you're at because A, you're worth it and B, as we grow, I'm thinking about growth. I'm already here, so it's like I need you guys to just be like, okay, whatever she says, I'm just gonna go with that price because trust me, it's your. It's the best interest of you and your company. Okay? Number eight, I have amazing support team backing me up. Is this your people that help you out? Is it your spouse? Is it your parents? Who is it? Do you have, do you have an amazing support team? Number nine, I lead with a clear personal values and strong principle. Guys, I don't know if you just heard what everyone said on the call. Did anyone truly know who they were on this call today? Did you hear it? No, we didn't. And I'm not blaming you. I didn't either. And I'm still figuring it Out. But I have a very clear now vision of it compared to where I was at before. Because so many of us right now on this call, we're kind of just in the rat race trying to get things done and we have no clue who we are. And you will lose yourself in the process. Trust me. Been there, done it, got the badge. I completely lost myself in the process of building orthopelvic. I'm just being honest. It was purely now at a fight or flight. Now that I realize this, and I just realized this two months ago, even maybe a month ago, and I didn't realize it over the seven years that I was building this thing out. I did. I had no clue I was in la la land. I thought I was in the land, but I wasn't. So today is why we need to get very clear on who you are. Because we're going to build a business that you're going to love. We're going to build a business that you're not resentful of. We're going to build something that your team loves. We're going to build something that actually works for you for years to come and that you don't become resentful of. So you have to be so clear on who you are and today, this is why this is important. So number nine, I lead with a clear personal values and strong principles. What are your personal values? And I'm going to get into it because I know some of you guys are like really struggling with this. Number 10, make sure we deliver top notch customer service and a great experience. If everything you guys put out, is it a 10 out of 10 or is it like I kind of just have asked that and I kind of just went through it because I'm overwhelmed. What is it? Okay, number 11, onboarding process. Is it so clear for the team members coming on that anyone could lead it in your company? Guys, this happened to me. This is why I built out the systems. I hired a PT after seeing 60 patients a week for 3 months straight. Had no energy. I literally was white as a ghost and I look like I was going to die. And I trained her for freaking, I don't know, 10 hours every single day for two months straight and like treated all the patients with her and all the things and she quit on me. She said, kelly, you're disorganized. I don't know what's going on. Well, that was true. She was right. I don't blame her. But that was my first ever employee. I didn't understand. I didn't know, So I don't want y' all to be in the same boat, okay? Because it was painful. Cost me a lot of energy and a lot of time and a lot of wasted money. Number 11, our onboarding process is so clear. Okay, we already said that. Okay. Number 12, you created a replicable system that for helping new providers and admin onboard effectively. Have you done that? Number 13, I lead by example and bring others into calls and meetings so that they can learn. Guys, I can't say enough about this. If I'll give you an example of Julia and I. Julia and I, we run as a pack, okay? When I had ortho pelvic, I did not run that team like a pack. And again, I'm just being honest here because I want. I want to show the comparison. Meaning I was the person going out and doing the con Ed. I was the person going out and going to meetings. I was the person traveling and it was only me. How do you think my team could actually all be leaders if I was the only leader in my company? And by the way, I'll go into that. I actually was not the leader of my company. They can't. If Julia and I have big meetings, I pull her in, she flies out here, she comes to California, we go to big meetings together because she also needs to be a part of that. The culture of Pelby biz is where we're all leaders. We don't have someone that's not a leader on the team. And I think all y' all want that too is your businesses. Because if you don't have leaders in your companies, I promise you, you're going to have to put them on your back and you're going to physically have to carry them and you're going to get very, very tired. And some of you right now are on this call and you're like, I'm not even there yet. I can't even process this. I'm telling you, please do not miss this. I need you to lock in because this is how you build something beyond yourself and this is how you build wealth. This is how you build time. This is how you build freedom. This is it. The key to all of this is being an amazing leader and building a team. And it could be a two person team or could be a 12 person team. It doesn't have to be that big, but you need a team, okay? So I'm telling you, focus. Even though you're like, I don't even know because I know some of you are right now are like, you haven't gone through all this stuff, but I'm telling you how important this is because it's the only way to build, because I've been through it all. So, you know, what did I say here? Number 14? I invest time and resources in growing leaders, meaning Julia and I. Like I said, we're going to Georgia this weekend. We're going to Running Man Festival. We'll be living in a tent. Oh, my God, say a prayer for us, because I don't do tents. So we have no air condition. I mean, we have no electricity. Like, this is not good. But it's something that gets us outside of our comfort zone, and we're doing it together as a team. And I'm going to be like, julia, can we just, like, go get a hotel right now? Because it's going to be something that's not going to be comfortable. But she's gonna be like, no, Kelly, we're gonna talk this thing out. I know this is what she's gonna say to me. Okay? Yeah, Carlo, we need all the freaking camping tips, because we don't. We don't do this. So, yeah, we need. We need help. We need help. So anyways. But, like, we're doing it together. Before, I would never do that with my team. Yeah, I would pull them on, like, spa days, but, like, that wasn't really team building. It was just, like, I wanted them to relax because I felt like they were doing a good job. Okay, so just be mindful of this. Number 15. I host regular team meetings to keep everyone informed, aligned, and connected. Okay? Now, some of you guys are probably like. Some of you guys are probably like, well, Kelly, it's just me. Well, here's the thing.
