What's up, guys? Welcome to Pelly Biz podcast. I'm your host, Kelly Alhuey. Today I have Jenny here. Jenny, would you go ahead and introduce yourself so everyone knows who you are and where is your clinic located?
Yes, my name is Jenny Chavez. I am the founder of Route to Recovery and we are in Houston, Texas and We've existed since 2020, but it was working on the business part time. But we've been fully in the business since November 2023 when Kelly told me to take the leap.
Guys, that's awesome. She's so. She's been fully in her business now for two years, which is amazing. And she has done very well. And so today we want to go over some stuff that most business owners aren't talking about. A lot of us are talking about our businesses and numbers and all that kind of stuff. But I want to get into kind of the, the dark side of it or the behind the scenes that no one really talks about much. And we are going to be talking about it more for Pelly Biz. Jenny and I were just talking off of this camera and basically she's on. The same route that I am on is really the self discovery slash give to self kind of route. Right, Jenny?
Yes. Yeah, that's it.
And so why, why is that? Why did you decide, Jenny, to be like, you know what, I'm going to start doing this for me, what was like the turning point.
So I feel that everything else is in check. Right. Like I've been having you as my coach as far as the business goes. And I feel that Route to Recovery is making its way to where it needs to be. Right. But there's. There was something missing. Right. And so in order for me to be the best version of myself or my clients, I have to work on myself. And so that was a missing piece. I feel that all of this education and everything that I was providing to my patients, I have to be able to implement that into my daily life as well. You know, like we tell patients all the time, even though you work hard, you have to make time for this. You have to make time for that. Well, we need to be the first ones to start doing that. And although I will say, you know, I wasn't doing that, doing that bad of a job at it, it wasn't consistent. And so that lack of consistency led to poor results. And so poor results leads again to lack of motivation. So I said, you know what, I need to really take this into consideration and I'm never going to be fully ready or feel fully ready to. To take that jump. So. And I. I've learned that from you. So I reached out to a personal fitness trainer, and she came up with a plan for me that's more personalized and expected to get results. So it's nutrition and fitness, and today was my first day.
Yay. Anyone that's listening, let's give it up for Jenny. That's freaking awesome.
Thank you. Thank you.
Let's go. I mean, that's huge. There's so many things you just said that I want to, like, recap on, okay? So the first thing is, guys, she has a good business, okay? She has a good business. Most of y' all that are probably listening to this right now, you're thinking, wow, well, she has a great business, so why. What. What else does she want? Guys, there's different levels and different buckets in life. It's not just all about business. You can have an amazing business. But guess what? I've been to many conferences and I've met many, many superstars, okay? And they have amazing businesses, like billionaires. I've met many billionaires. Multimillionaires, all the things, okay? But there's different buckets to it. Some of these people do not have a good family life, okay? Why would I look up to them if they don't have a good family life? Some of these people suck at fitness. They're overweight, they don't know how to manage their stress. So why am I looking up to them as my mentor? Right?
Exactly.
And so there's different levels to this. So you have to first start off by asking yourself, what. What do I really want? So do I want a good business? Do I want to make the money I. I want? Do I deserve that money? Yes, I do. Okay. Do I deserve good health? Yes, I do. Okay. Do I deserve. Do I deserve to have a good family life? Yes, I do. So I want it all. I want it all, and I'm not going to compromise. So it's like, you guys have got to take baby steps to start setting yourself up that it's not just business. And I need everyone listening to this right now. Pelvibe Biz and the way I coach is not just business. Even though I talk about business a lot, business is personal. Personal is business. I always say it's an integration. It's not separate. And if you do it separately, you will fail at business. You will fail.
Exactly. Yeah. So basically building your foundation, right? So I had to take a look. I was on a recent trip to El Salvador. And I was out there for a month and the perspective of life is so much different over there. Right. And so I was really reflecting on that when I came back, I was like, okay, I'm able to travel. My family life is good. You know, health wise, I feel good. But, you know, health wise, I still need that extra jump. Right. Like that. In order for me to have all of, all of the energy that I need in order to treat all of the clients, I need energy. And what is the best way to get energy is exercise, sunlight, you know, all of those things. So that's what I'm focusing on now. And I feel that that's going to be my greatest investment right now.
I freaking love this. This so aligns. I just, you know, it's so funny. I was just telling Julia this morning that we really are just looking for pelvibiz of the people that align with our values and our mission. And it just so aligns, Jenny, which is why you're in our world. Right? Because it really does align with everything we talk about and want with our clients. Knowing that, you know, fitness is business. And you're going to see a change in us too. You're going to see a change in myself as well, because like, even I was at this conference this past weekend, guys, I was at an Andy Elliott conference and David Goggins was there. You know, if people don't know him, he's like this extreme runner dude. And basically they were saying if you work harder on your business than yourself, then you are going to fail.
Yep.
And I find that so, so true.
It's true. Because if we focus on the business, but we're running out of battery, you know, all of a sudden we're just gonna collapse. Well, the business is going to collapse, you know, and so we have to have our, our batteries full in order to keep moving. And you know, I've been working with Pelby Biz for a while with, you know, and, and again, our values align, which is why I have stuck with you guys. Right? Not stuck, but, you know, keep working with you guys. And I think over three years now since we've been working together from since the beginning. But you've evolved. Right. And I'm a different person as well. You know, our conversations are, are on another level now.
Correct. Right. Yeah. It's not like, hey, hey, let's get started. Right? It's like been the journey. Right. And so that's what people, people have to understand. If you just stay where you start, you won't grow and the whole thing is this. It's not about getting to like, let's say we're climbing Mount Everest. It's not about getting to the top of Mount Everest and like sticking a flagpole in Mount Everest and at the very top of it saying, hey, I've reached the freaking top. It's about the journey of climbing Mount Everest and what you learn along the way and all the different challenges that will come at you. I've learned this. The bigger your goals are, the more people are that are going to come out after you. They're going to try to sue you. They're going to try to say talking to shit about you. You're going to be very misunderstood. They're not going to understand your mission. They're not going to understand why she's changing. Your friend group is going to change. They're going to be like, what the heck? Like, I don't even know her anymore. That's not a bad thing. That's a good thing. That means you're evolving and they're not. And many people are scared about having people be like, well, I don't know who you are anymore. Why are you changing? And it's like, actually, I'm changing into a better version of myself. And, and that only is going to make your whole entire life, everything in those buckets that we're talking about, the beginning here, it's only going to elevate it. When you work the hardest on yourself more than anything, that is only going to take everything to the next level. Relationships, financially, your business, your personal life, everything is going to go to the next level. People don't understand that that is how you unlock success. That's it.
It's so true. Yeah. When I first started, our conversations had to do with, well, is this the right thing for me? You know, what's, what's going to happen next? Am I going to be okay not working for, for a big hospital system? What are my patients going to think about this? Cash space, you know, so many what is and all that. Right. But all of that is now gone. We've taken care of that. Now it's more on a, a fear of, okay, what's the next step? Right. Like you asked me this earlier, what, what is the next step for routes, recovery? Well, we, we have a big vision, but we always keep our core values in mind. Right? Like compassion, community, all of those things. Those are, that's how we figure out what our next step is. And although I could stay where I'm at right now, but I Don't want to. I always want the best for my patients, so I'm always looking. Okay. What else can we incorporate to make this into a better experience?
Right. No, I love that. And I'm gonna go off that culture. Who is route to recovery? Okay. This is huge. Okay. I want everyone that's listening to pay attention to this. Most of us on social media are trying to say what our culture is. The only way that you actually prove that you have a culture is show us. Don't say it. Meaning, can I go over how. What that means? Because most of you guys are like, what? Okay. What I mean by that is you have to eat, live and breathe it. So at this conference this weekend, they said this. A leader is not just a role. Meaning you go into the office and you're a leader. A leader is something that you do day in, day out, every second of the day, and you basically have to act like a leader. Like a camera's following you, following you around the entire day. Right. That's a true leader. Meaning if I'm talking about how you need to work out to make your business better and I'm not working out, I'm not a leader. You don't then have a right to be like, yep, Kelly's leader. No, that's not. That's. No. Conversely, if I. If like, let's just say route to recovery. Jenny, let me ask you questions. This would be good.
Yes.
So with route to recovery, what are your. What are your core values? Can you tell me the core values?
Yes. It's going to be compassion, community commitments. So those are the main three.
Okay. Compassion. Okay. So what are you doing every single day? To live with compassion and show people compassion.
With my patients, I would say they come in, I listen to them. Even if it takes 30 minutes, I believe that healing is already happening through that, through us being a great listener. Because we all know that in the health care world, you go into the doctor's office and you barely get a minute to talk. Right? And so that's my way of showing compassion. The other way is more physical. Right. When they lay on my table, I show compassion by using a warm touch. Touch on their bodies and making them feel comfortable. Like, hey, make. Let me know what you're feeling and talking to them through it. As far as family, I'm very compassionate with, with everyone. My parents, my siblings, my partner, just my dogs. I'm very loving. I make sure that everything is in place. They are my priority, you know, and I'm also a good listener for them. So I show compassion towards them in that way.
Okay. And then, guys, do you hear that? It's not only what Jenny is doing in her clinic. That's one thing. That's what most of y' all are doing right now. You are showing, you know, whatever your core value is, you're doing it in clinic. Second, you walk out of clinic, you're like.
A whole different person.
A whole different person. But she's doing that and she's showing that towards her family. And even like a random person in the grocery store, let's just say, I don't know, like some lady yesterday was, you know, trying to get out of her wheelchair yesterday. Well, what did I do? I went over and held her wheelchair so that she could get up. And you know, that's showing compassion. Right.
Putting others first.
Putting others first, exactly. So Jenny would not be a leader if she only did that just towards her patients. Right. So that's. So that's one core value. What was the next one?
A commitment.
Commitment. Okay, so tell us how you have a com. What's the commitment to the patients?
The commitment to the patients would be that I'm dedicated to them. So they are able to reach me through all sorts of resources. So they can email me, they can text me, they can call us, they can message us via dm. So we're available to them, we're committed to their well being. Any questions that they have, they can reach us directly. I'm also committed in being able to have the availability that they need. So if they need to come in for successions, I'm going to make that space and time available for them so that they can commit. Right. So I have to commit myself to them first before they commit themselves to me. And I believe, I mean, that's pretty much how we do it. Right.
But yeah. And then you also make a commitment to family, right?
Yes. Committed to family. Of course, yes. It's not all about business, actually. My core values were built on, you know, my family values, what I already believed in. I took that over into route to recovery because I don't want to be two different people, you know, with.
Right.
The family. And then I treat my clients like they're my family and I provide the education that I would give to my mom and dad. Right. You know, because sometimes we see people in their 50s and 60s that they're my parents age and so a lot of them have never heard of, hey, you need to do better with your nutrition. They're like, what? You know.
Right.
And so I tell them Look, I know this is not something that you would hear usually from a physical therapist, but I'm educating you in the same way that I would educate my mother if she was sitting right there.
Yeah.
And that's when it hits them, and they're like, wow, you know, she's on to something.
Yeah. And you care. People like it when you care. It's not that hard. People are like, well, why am I not busy? Because you don't care enough. You don't care enough, you know, And.
I think that's why it's easy for me, because I care about every single person that calls us. Even if they don't decide to come in. I care. And about. Okay, let me make sure that you are going at least to another place that is the right fit for you.
No, that's. That's huge. When you care, you win the game. You're going to help more people, because people can feel when you actually care and you're genuine versus when you're not. And guys, that's how you should treat everyone. Treat it like Jenny's treating these clients. I'm not kidding. And treat your life like that. You're not two separate people, because then it clashes. It does. What's the third value? What's the third one?
Community.
Community. Oh, I love this one.
Okay.
How do you give community to your patients?
So we go out and do workshops. A lot of them are free, you know, for them to come out and become educated. And we go out into the community. We do 5Ks. And then from there, a lot of people have gone on to go on to doing 10Ks, have marathons. Marathons. And so just by pushing them and planting that seed into them, I. I've been able for them to create their own journeys from there.
Awesome.
So it's pretty awesome. Yeah. We also go into the soccer community a lot. So we go to soccer tournaments. And we're there and we're offering. We're offering our services at a, you know, discounted rate so people can actually just come and experience it for 10, you know, so that they don't have the excuse of like, oh, well, that's, you know, too expensive, or that's out of my way. Like, no, we're gonna come to you so you can get to experience it. And then from there you decide, okay, this is something that I've been missing in my life, you know, because a people I've realized, especially in. In the Hispanic community, community, we see health and wellness as something that can be taken care of later or you Know, we do, yes, we do recovery sessions and it's something like that's a luxury, right? And so I've really been targeting our, our Hispanic community lately where, hey, you need to invest in yourself, you know, because we're only here for a short period of time in life and you have to make the best of your time and a lot. Hispanic grandparents, they have a lot of grandchildren, right? But if they're in pain, they can't do anything with their grandchildren. Right? And so that's where I'm like, you know, what are your goals? You know, we get to the deep why you're hurting and I can help you, right? What is the, your deep why of wanting to come to route to recovery? We're not just going to touch your back because your, your back is hurting. We're going to try to get you to live a better lifestyle. So that's why the name route to recovery really fits as well. Because you're not just coming in so we can solve your pain. You're coming in so you can be able to spend time with your kids, your grandkids and for you to be able to run marathons if that's what you want to do.
I love this. And you're probably, when it comes to your family or even with your partner, how are you building that community? You could probably, you know, go to community events like maybe girlfriend walk up meetup groups, you know, or for family. You know, a lot of people go to church together or you know, whatever it may be. But guys, that's building a community. You're doing the community thing, but also with your family as well. And that's part of the leadership.
And it actually again, it started with my family. We, we did our first 5k at the Rockets run. This was about three years ago. That's how it started. We all did it together and then from there the community just grew and so cool. Now we have a lot of our patients that come in and they've never done a 5k but they see pictures because we have pictures of our family runs and they become inspired. They see my dad with his half marathon medal and they're like, wow, you know, I'm in my 50s and I don't do anything. So yeah, it's becoming an inspiration to, to other people.
Guys, that's amazing. I hopefully you guys are really taking this in. Jenny is building culture. This is culture, this is actually branding as well. Whether or not she realizes this or not, this is really route to recovery is not only just getting your problem solved. Like Jenny said, it is creating community, getting people to understand that they don't have to live the way they are living and that she's the person that can actually solve their problem based on the core values here. And she's living it. And now she's even going to put herself into it. So when she immerses herself even into it, it's only going to take the company to the next level, whether or not she even is thinking about that right now or not, because she is living it. Feels it, eats it, breathes it. So all the little micro changes that she's about to go through is then going to be in to route to recovery. And so it's just going to elevate other things because she's going to say, you know what? I felt that, too. I can 100 speak that language because I went through that too. And I need you guys to understand this, that it's. If you guys want to make the money, you want, you guys want to have a time freedom, you want, okay, you have to understand this. This is key. Creating the culture, having things that you actually believe in. Jenny, luckily, she already did this when she started with her family first. But most of y', all, when I say core values, you're like, what? I don't even have any core values. I don't stand for anything. Right? So y' all have to do self discovery. No, this is, like, for real. So here's some tactile that I need y' all to take away from this podcast. And I actually just made an Instagram post on this. Who are you? That's the first question I want you to ask yourself. Who are you? And most of y' all are going to say, well, I'm a pelvic floor therapist, and this is what I do, and this is who I really treat.
And that's not who you are.
That's not who you are. That's what you do.
Yeah, that's what you do.
That's what you do.
Yeah. So my whole life, I've played soccer, right? And I've been an active soccer player, right? But with my injury, you know, that. That went away and I became a physical therapist. I'm a physical therapist, but I'm not a physical therapist. That's what I do, Right? So today, when I started my first workout, it consisted of lifting weights. I've never lifted weights because I've always done soccer. Yeah, you're always cardio. Yeah, you know, I've done weights, but, like, the machines, never like the actual bar. You Know, and so today I was like, wow, this is my first day and I'm already gonna be 35. But it's never too late, right? So as I was working through the exercises, you know, I was, there's a variety of squats, right? And I do have a lot of patients that come in and they're like, oh, hack squats and this and that. And I've had to look it up because I don't have experience in that. Right? But today I was like, now I'm going to be able to speak their language. And now that we're going to involve and make routes recovery a little bit bigger, we are going to have squat machine and we are going to be able to implement that, right? And so as I was working out, the workout was pretty intense for it being my first one. And so what motivated me was envisioning, you know, when my patients come in and I'll be able to answer their questions a lot better instead of like, well, you know, let me look into it and I'll get back to you the next session or so. You know, it's going to improve my confidence and being able to empower them even more.
That is freaking awesome. So did you need a con Ed class for that? No.
No.
Okay. You. You're doing it based on experience, guys. This is the best freaking con Ed class you can give yourself is try it. Because Jenny wouldn't have known. She could have gone to a con Ed class and learned how to do a hex squat and back squat and front squat and kettlebell squat and halfway in between squat and all the things, right? And she'd be like, cool, I know how to do it. But is that actually truly giving her front hand knowledge of what it is like to do these squats? Jenny now is going to be able to talk to the person like, this is crazy. Even on social media. I'm sidetracking here. But even on social media, when y' all are like, I don't know what to post, this is it. When you go through a journey, take people with you, they want to see it. They want to see it. They want to see Jenny squat for the first time when she's using weights, because the same thoughts that are going through her head is actually going through someone else's head. Like, oh, my God, how do I lift this bar? Where do I put this bar? What's happening? Jenny now could be the educator of all these perimenopause and post menopause women that are like, I don't know what to do with this thing. I want to do it, but I'm so terrified that, A, I'm going to hurt myself or B, like I'm going to look stupid or not know what to do. So Jenny now can so relate to these people, which then builds the culture around who she's trying to specifically target, rather than just being like, yeah, I know how to squat. I went to this course and they taught me and I know how to squat, so come see me.
I won't be able to relate to them. And the patient will be like, you know, you haven't gone through yourself. You know, all you know is soccer. That's it. And my other point was, you know, it's. It's a lot of sheets, right, that they send you for the plan. And so you, you kind of start to overthink, but I stopped myself. I was like, stop overthinking it. Just do it and it's going to get better. This is your first time. And so I know that a lot of people out there listening to this, that's what holds us back from trying something new is overthinking what it. Like you said, what if I get hurt? What if I don't finish? What if what? What will others think of me? Or, you know, all of those sort of things. And so I, I really coached myself through and I was like, stop overthinking. Just do the reps. And, you know, I made some modifications for myself. You know, I'm a pt, I know how to do that. And so I modified some of the things and I was like, there's nothing wrong with it. You know, it is personalized, but I can personalize it even further. And so that's where.
Right.
That's what really helped me get through the, through the workout.
No, that's awesome. And going back to, I don't know, for those that are watching this on YouTube, Jenny just held up like, I don't know, 20 different sheets. Okay. On the screen. And guys, this also is a good indication of Jenny. What did she just say? This is overwhelming, right? So you have to also think, how are you delivering stuff to the patients? Because things can become overwhelming. So not only are you going to help people be able to lift weights, but potentially you can redeliver and the same kind of program, but in a way that's very concise. Maybe you deliver it with the modifications that you did for a very, very beginner level lifting in mind. Right? And, and then right there, there's a product that you can now sell to other people that Are just like you trying to lift weights for the first time.
Yeah, exactly. For example, you know, this is nutrition and fitness. It's a nutrition and fitness plan. So it can be very overwhelming. Right. I had to make sure I had my groceries on some.
Yeah.
So I had to make sure I had that. And then I missed a couple of things. Thank God for Whole Foods. Whole Foods delivery. Right. Because they were able to come through. But I missed a few things, and I was able to get again today some of the things that I was missing. So that's already overwhelming in itself, right? Making sure. On top of my client schedule, making sure that I have my meals. Like, as we're doing this, I have my protein shake. That's for my noon meal. Right. And so that's already overwhelming. That can feel overwhelming in itself. But I told myself, take it easy, make it fun. Right? It doesn't have to be exactly that. So enjoy the process. Don't be too hard on yourself. Right? And then the other thing for the fitness. One example was a. A hack squat, but the 45 pound. The 45 pound plates, okay. So my feet had to be on there. I'm short. And so that was not. I was like, on my tippy toe like a ballerina.
Ballerina, you know, I was like, this.
Is not gonna work out. You know, who does this? Right? And so I took my 25 pound plate. I was like, this will work. And that worked out perfectly. Right.
But if it were somebody else, they.
Would be like, no, this trainer doesn't know what they're talking about. You know, I don't think this is gonna be good. Scratch it, I'm done. Right? But no, I was like, okay, what else can. And I made it work. And actually, I have a lot of energy right now.
Yeah, you do. And I love it.
I love.
I love the vibe you're giving me. I mean, I always love the vibe you're giving me, but.
Yeah.
So, Jenny, walk us through. Like, how do you make it fun? How do you kind of. Because many people that are listening to this are like, oh, if it's hard, I'm just gonna kind of just let it be and I'm just gonna try it tomorrow. Or, you know, so how do you make it fun? And, like, what's the mental state that you have to get in to, like, just try this when. When lifting weight seems so scary and, oh, my God, I've never done this. Like, what are you telling yourself internally that's making you say, okay, I can do this? Like, what's giving You. The confidence.
What's giving me the confidence is that I already have everything that I need. You know, I'm already. I am. I'm a physical therapist, but I'm also a coach myself. Right. I do this for other people, so why don't I do it for myself? You know, it's free. I have the space. I have the tools. I have everything that I need. The only thing that I need to get started is just to get started. And so I was going to keep this to myself, right? Because it is scary, and I don't want. I didn't want to feel the pressure. But yesterday, my friends came over, we went out for dinner, and the conversation came up because I have a friend that. She loves to eat, and she's like, hey, you're a foodie, too. And I'm like, yeah. And she was telling me stuff on the menu. I was like, you know what? Like, I'm actually not even craving that anymore. Like, I guess I'm already mentally preparing. And she's like, oh, man, no, I don't want to lose you as a foodie. You know? I was like, it's not that. I said, let's make it fun. So she showed me a picture of. Of a crip. You know, those. Okay. Like a crepe wings. Yeah. And she's like, look, doesn't this. Like, she was trying to tempt me, right? Like, playing around, and she's like, doesn't this look amazing after our dinner? And I was like, it does. I was like, but she knows how to cook. She knows how to bake. And I said, but what if you turn that into a healthy option for me and I would. I would join you. And she said, actually, that's a great idea. You know, so getting my friends involved in it, I think that's. That makes it fun.
Yeah.
I wasn't gonna tell anyone, because then you start to feel the pressure, Right. She was already accepting me. But I feel like I'm very meant. I'm mental. My mental resilience is very high. And so I can say no to things, you know?
No, that's great. And I think you're right on one end. It's like, yeah, let me not tell anyone so I don't feel that pressure and then just give up because I missed a day. And now I feel like. Because people are going to judge me, right?
Yes.
And then the other side, though, is if you tell people, then they also can hold you accountable. So I'm actually. It's so funny, Jenny. I literally am Going through the same thing. I just this morning, right before this call, I scheduled my nutrition meeting with a place in California when I move in two weeks, you know, give it up. Yep. So it's so funny. I'm on the same page. So we should talk to each other in the DMs and be like, jenny, did you do your thing today? Did you do your thing? Because, you know, just holding each other accountable is huge. And if you didn't, okay, well, that's okay. No one's going to punish you, but that's just on you. You know what I'm saying? It's like, okay, how can I do this? How can I get back up? There is going to be mistakes along the way. There is going to be days where you're not going to do your thing, but it's those times when you're like, you know what? I didn't do it today, but tomorrow I'm just going to try better or try differently or try a slightly different way or position it. Like, whatever it may be, mentally, you just gotta stay in the game. And it may not look like, hey, I lifted for one hour straight, all these barbells and blah, blah, blah. It may be like, hey, I just showed up today. I walked on the treadmill for five, 10 minutes. And I feel good about that because I just showed up. And that's maybe where people start, you know, just to get in the routine of it. And then like you said, you're doing the nutrition and the working out. I mean, that is like a double. That's a lot.
Yeah. But like, I. I was going to say that another point would be, you know, choose your hard.
Yeah.
Do you want to live the rest of your life not feeling good about yourself and having low energy and all of that, versus, you know, choosing the other hard way, which is a working out, being more aware of your nutrition, and then having more energy after your workout. Which hard do you want to choose? It is hard. You know, like right now, I'm barely through, halfway through this day, and I already have to think. Start thinking, okay, how. Depending on my schedule, my. My patient schedule for tomorrow, I need to set up my workouts and my meals in between there.
Yeah.
So, yeah, it is hard. But it's doable, right?
Yeah, no, it's all doable, and I think that's huge. Yeah. Do you want to sit in the doctor's office every day or do you want to go to the gym? So, yeah, you gotta. You gotta choose your heart for sure. I love that. Yeah. I Think Cody, what's her name says that a lot. Choose your heart. I like that. Yeah.
Yeah.
I mean, I'm just proud of you. I'm just proud of you for you taking care of you. Because as business owners and especially as females, we tend to want to give to everyone else and not put ourselves first, you know, so it's. It's a hard decision. Yeah.
I'm proud of you as well. And another thing that motivated me is that seeing a lot of women coming in through my door, they're all stressed out and why? Because they're taking care of everyone else and they're not making time for themselves. So their barrel is full and it's overflowing. I don't want my barrel to overflow, you know, so.
Yeah, because it leads to resentment. I've been there. It leads to resentment. You start hating everyone. You completely burn out, and you're like, I'm done with everything. Even though you're not. And it just. It does not lead to what you ultimately want. And you have to be able to. I think the summary here is, like I said at the beginning, work on yourself more than you do your business. And I personally, I made that mistake many, many times. Meaning I worked on my business more than I did myself. 100%.
That happened to me in the beginning, if you remember. You know, I was working 8 to 5 and then 5:30 to 8:30, I wasn't having dinner. I was eating fast food all the time. I wasn't working out. And so I. I was burning out. And that's when you told November of 20, 20, 23, you said you have to do it. And as scary as it was, I took it and I couldn't be any more happier.
Yeah. Yeah. No, that's. That's amazing. It's. It's so. It's amazing to see the resilience in here, in the head. Right. And the resilience is what keeps you in the game. And the longer you're able to stay in the game, the more you win, no matter what. No matter. No matter if you feel like it's going slow or no matter if you feel like it's going fast, the longer you're able to stay in that game, the more that you actually win the game. That's it. It's really what it comes down to.
Yeah. Because like you said, you know, once you get to Mount Everest, what's next? We're always going to want more, right?
Always.
And so, yes, I'm learning to slow down, to slow down, embrace the Journey and be intentional.
Yeah.
Being intentional every day.
Yes, yes. Because like I said, I go to so many conferences, I invest a lot of money in lots of different conferences, right, guys? I meet so many millionaires and billionaires. I'm not kidding. I meet so many. And I pick their brain. That's all I want to do is pick their brain. Okay? And the overall theme is, yes, they have the job that they want, yes, they have the money that they want, but most of them are not healthy and most of them don't have the family that they want and. Or the lifestyle that they want. And they're all like, sick. And that's not what I want, you know?
Yeah, exactly. And so, yeah, a lot of. Because you asked me earlier what is next and I said, well, financially, you know, because that's what most people think, right? Like want to make it to. To have more money. But I've quickly come to realize that doesn't make me happy. You know, it. It will help, but I have to make sure that everything else is in place. That's right. Because money, you can have money one day and all of a sudden it's gone, right? So you have to make sure that everything else is in place and then the money will be make things even better.
I'm telling you, the biggest hack of business is you get yourself right, you get yourself to the next level. You start attracting people instead of begging for people to come into your world. And the second you start attracting people to come into your world, that's when the magic happens because you'll be like, I don't know what to do with all these people. I got so many people. What. What happened? And what happened is you change as a person so you really actually attract the people that are like, I want to be like Jenny. I want to be like Jenny because I was the person that didn't know how to lift. Lift a freaking barbell. I want to be like Jenny because I'm the busy mom that works all these different jobs. And if she did it well, I guess she can teach me how to do it because she's just as busy as I am, right? And so people start to then see that. And that's why, Jenny, if I was you, no pressure, but I really would share like what you did today and the behind the scenes because that inspires the crap out of people. Because people want to have a leader. People want to be led. There is not many leaders out there to. In this today's world. And if you are a leader, especially in your community, okay. It seems like many people do look up to you in your community, so I would utilize that and be like, this is what I'm doing. For all you guys that believe that you can put this on the back burner, I wouldn't, because this is why and this is what it's given me. Even after a week of doing this, I now feel like I have a lot more energy. And if y' all are looking for that because you got to go play with your kids after work and whatever else and you just want to sit on that couch, this is going to allow you to do that.
Awesome. Yep. You know, I'll definitely do that. Yeah. I'll share my journey of it if that's what, you know, people want to see and inspire others, you know.
Yes. That's a true leader. That's what you are. True leader. So why not?
Yeah, that's what I noticed. Like, all of us, you know, I was on my trip and everything, but when I came back, people were ready to come see me, and I was like, whoa, where do all these people come from? You know, word of mouth referrals and all sorts of things. Like, where did you. You know, we're getting more calls and all that. I'm like, how did you hear about us? Oh, I saw you on Instagram. I heard you about you through this friend, and I was like, wow, this is amazing. Right? Because that's my goal. But then if you're like, do, you know, making space for everyone. So it does get. It's very exciting, you know? Yeah. So I'm excited to see what we can do for the next phase of route to recovery, but we're always thinking of the best things for our clients.
That's. That's freaking awesome. And. And I love your core values. Stay true to that and stay true to. Just keep improving yourself. And I'm telling you, like, it's. This is recorded, so I'm telling you, you will only 2x where you're already at if you 2x yourself. Like, that's just it. That's how it works.
Awesome. And I know your mom has been your biggest supporter along the way. So I remember that today. And my mom was like, hey, how's your day going? I was like, you know, I was excited to tell her, like, well, you know, today's my first day on this wellness journey. And she's like, wow, that sounds amazing. And, you know, so that. That helps to motivate me as well.
Man, mothers are so good. I can go on and on about my mother I should do a podcast with my mother. I think she'd be like, hi. But she's fun. She's a good time. That's a whole.
Just don't tell her you're recording it. Just be like, hey, I sent you a link. Get on the video. And you know what?
That's actually a good point, Jenny. Maybe we'll do that, a podcast with my mother. Because you're right. Yeah. They've been such an inspiration in our life, paving our way of. Of, you know, how we've gotten here. You know, I believe that's. That's a big part of it.
I think that would be amazing. I've thought about doing, like, interviewing my mom too, you know, because she's going through menopause right now, and it's not easy.
Right?
It's not easy at all. And so, you know, she has ups and downs and emotional roller coasters and. But she's still standing strong. Right. And she doesn't know that she's one of my biggest supporters, even though she doesn't feel at strongest right now.
Wow.
So that would be amazing for you to do that with your mom.
Yeah, that's.
Yeah.
You just gave me an idea. That's great.
You're gonna call her right now.
I know. Like, let's get on. She'll be like, what? Oh, my God. All right, Jenny. Well, this has been awesome. Like, this has been super, like, just insightful about core values culture. Not it's not only about growing the business, but it's also about giving to yourself. And when you give to yourself, everything else in your life will grow. And I. I thank you for sharing just your knowledge and what's in here to the people because I think it's super valuable. So thank you so much for coming on. And do you want to tell people where they can find you to follow you? Follow your journey in this. We would love to see it. So no pressure, but we would love to see it.
Yes. Thank you for having me on, Kelly, and for always thinking. You know, sometimes we're just going through life and we don't realize that we. The impact that we can make on other people just by what we're doing. And just talking to you today was a reminder of that. So I will definitely be. Be doing that. Our social media, the one we're mainly on is Instagram, so we're on as routes recovery pt. Our Facebook is under route to recovery. Our website is www.routsrecoverypt.com and we actually just did a website refresh. So It's a lot easier for people to maneuver and go through our colors or our brand colors are upgraded. It looks amazing. So that's where you can find us. And through Instagram, the best way is send us a DM and we'll reach you right away.
Awesome. Awesome. Well, thank you so much, Jenny, for all your insight and we'll talk soon.
Thank you, Kelly. Have a great day.
