Before starting the company, I had a few false beliefs. I'm Sonya Worthy Okolo and I'm a physical therapist, owner and founder of Oasis PT and Pelvic Health located in Bethesda, Maryland and we also have an office in Columbia, Maryland. Before starting the company, I had a few false beliefs. One of them was I'm too old for this and the other was who would really come see me or who would really pay out of pocket, not using their insurance to have service provided by me. So despite still struggling with confidence and some of the false beliefs, I've moved forward definitely with the help of the team I've been connected with through Pelvibiz. It's amazing to be around like minded women, to have a coach like Kelly who can see the potential and also just really kind of nudge and push you beyond your comfort zone and just really provide a lot of support and encouragement, tapping into maybe dreams and beliefs you didn't even know that you had inside. So in June I opened my own brick and mortar space. It's a three room clinic with a really great studio and we've been serving the community beyond pelvic floor therapy, hosting other birth workers and meet and greets and gatherings. We've had monthly offerings of sound bath healing which is so important nourishing self care practices. You know, with some of our clients it's been great to also connect and collaborate with yoga practitioners and support the wellness part of pelvic health with prenatal yoga as they're getting the spectrum of care there at the clinic. As I continued to work in the pelvic health space, my mindset shifted from being a solopreneur to wanting to really build a team. As I've worked with coaching in this space, my dreams grew bigger and I definitely wanted to bring on other people to be a part of that my team to make a greater impact in the community and the pelvic health world. Besides wanting to, you know, serve as a healer and really make an impact in the pelvic health world, one of my goals was to prepare for retirement. I realized after having, you know, a bit of some unexpected things happen in life that I really needed a tool outside of the traditional model of employment to really help catch up and allow me to make and accomplish the goals that I wanted. So working through Pelvibiz, really establishing the clinic and growing the clinic, I'm definitely on the right path to accomplishing my goals.
