In this candid conversation, Mel recounts a low point in her healthcare‑focused business when she felt overwhelmed, isolated, and considered quitting to take a conventional W‑2 job. She credits Kelly Alhooie and the broader community for providing accountability and encouragement that kept her from quitting. After deciding to stay, Mel’s revenue surged, marking her highest‑earning month. She notes that her business metrics have been volatile but show an overall upward trend, which has helped her develop greater accountability and organization despite increasing complexity. To reduce her workload and gain flexibility as a mother of six, Mel hired a part‑time practitioner, allowing her to work fewer client hours and accommodate personal responsibilities without rescheduling. The discussion highlights the emotional challenges of entrepreneurship, the importance of support networks, operational scaling decisions, and balancing business growth with family life.

It was kind of like that was a pivotal moment for me because, um, it just felt really impossible and it felt like, oh shit, I'm alone. Can I do this alone? Um, should I just quit everything and like go get a regular W-2 job? Because it's so much work, you know, to like run a business and sometimes it just feels like you're super lost. Um, but Luckily, like, there was a few key people in my life, like Kelly was a big one that just— you guys were like, no, you can't quit. Like, why would you quit? And, um, it's just a lot of flexibility, I think. In the day, which is really nice to be momming it with all the 6 kids.
You know, I think the biggest thing, Mel, too, is just having belief in yourself, um, and just being like, okay, like, we can do the thing and it, it's gonna happen. And you've been able to prove it and do the thing.
