Welcome to Pelby biz podcast. I'm Dr. Kelly Alhui. I have grown and established brick and mortar practice in Northern Virginia called Ortho Pelvic Physical Therapy and also founded Pelvibiz, which is an online business consulting company that helps healthcare providers make more money and be healthy while doing it, especially in the pelvic health realm. And let's get into today's episode.
Today I'm going to talk about how and why we all should be putting on big events. Whether or not that's for your practice, whether or not that's for your online product, whether or not you're just trying to build a community, events build and increase momentum no matter whatever you're trying to do. So the reason why, here we go, let's get into it. The reason why events are so important is because they are going to give you momentum. They're going to bring excitement, they're going to create a buzz in the community. You're going to get your whole and community involved in your event that you're putting on. It may also be for the community. So here's some stuff that I typically like to do for big events and like why I would do them. Number one, if you move locations, I really like to do a grand opening party that's going to allow you to get people that maybe not in your world to actually come into your clinic and see what it's like, experience who you are and truly get to know the vibe so that they may feel comfortable to come in for a treatment. The next I like to do is a grand reopening. So maybe I moved locations and I'm like, okay, this would be a great, I call it like a reactivation campaign that hey guys, we're in the community, we really know your problem, we really can help solve it. Come see us. Come look around the clinic and win some prizes while you're there. That's what I like to do. We just have people at my mastermind do like a Galentine's day event or a couple massage event. Those things work really well for the community to get together and be like, okay, I'm going to come because that sounds like a really fun event. And not only are they getting information at the event, they're also getting the community that's local and that's what people are looking for these days. That's what's missing. So many people work from home, so many people don't have that community. And so that's what we provide when we do these big events. I think that's really important. There's other events like painting vulvas or since the Taylor Swift error is in full on, you know, swing making bracelets. And for us, we did where we had inhale on one side and then exhale on the other side of the bracelet. And that reminded our patients as a tool to do their belly breathing and to breathe especially if they're in a stressful situation or whatever else. So hosting events like that are just fun. Like, it's so fun to get people together. I know introverts that are listening to this right now are just like, really, Kelly? But I promise you, if you can do events well, you will win the game of life and business because it really elevates the whole experience. So three years ago, I'm going to tell you about an event I did three years ago. I did something called the Women's Be well Women Summit. It was an online event and no one knew me, no one knew me in my community yet. And what I did was get 40 women, locally owned businesses that were in need of clients, basically and a community. And the reason why I came up with this idea was we had so many women asking me, well, Kelly, who do I go to for this? Who do I go to for that? And I'm like, why does no one know about these people that are in our community yet? Like, we should all know about these people. So I decided to connect everyone. So basically, I was the connector. And with these events, you want to be the connector, you want to know who's who, who has what, who has what that can impact. So and so, like, you want to connect the people. If you can connect the people again, you're going to win. So we did this event and we promoted it on Facebook, we promoted it on social media. We promoted it in person at different events that I was going to in person. We promoted it in mom groups. We promoted it everywhere for five months straight. And it was an online event and we had the speaker speak for anywhere. There's two different tiers between 15 minutes and 20 minutes. They could also give us prizes that they could put in goodie bags for people. And so they were able to do that. And we had over one at the highest peak, we had over 1,500 people online in our community that were local that were seeking support for something that they may have thought of, like, was never going to be solved. And we had people in our community that actually could help solve it. And they were able to hear them speak and be able to say, you know what, this Is for me, this is something that I need. So I'm gonna go and get help with these services here because of that event. And to this day I can tell you this, even to this day, that event is still connecting people. My sister in law is going through divorce and I had a divorce attorney on and we used her because we knew her from the event and we knew that she was really well known in our community. So we went with that route. So it's just crazy how that one event continued to impact for years to come. And we think about these people because of that one event. So that's just an example. Also we have, as you guys know, pelvibiz event coming up, which is by the way, it's like in three weeks. I cannot believe it's here. Okay. Pelvis event is my favorite event ever because it really gets those that are serious about building a business together and getting a community because business can be lonely. So the point of Pelviz event is to actually have a community of like minded women that want to build pelvic health practices, whether or not it's brick and mortar and online, come together and collaborate and have ideas so that we can all progress together and everyone wins. There was nothing on the market like this and that's why I decided to do it. And I called a business retreat because it's not a conference and you're not listening to one person just talk about whatever it is. We're all putting our heads together and we're coming together because 40 heads are better than one head just up there talking and giving information. So when we all put our minds together, that's the point. While also taking care of ourselves because I believe, because I'm one of them, us women tend to not take care of ourselves. So the reason why it came about is because I really wanted us to take care of ourselves while actually growing our business to actually give us what we want. So that's a massive reason behind peli biz. On top of it builds relationships with like minded pelvic health therapists across the country. It allows you to feel confident and be able. When you are able to be surrounded by your peers and instruct your peers, that's going to build confidence because you're going to be like, oh my God, I just instructed people that actually know what I'm going to be talking about. Like, that's amazing. So we help really build confidence. We build energy, we build a support system, we build tactile things that you're going to need to help Grow and start the business. So events like this, you just, you can't match it. I don't care what you do online, you really cannot match it. Being something like this online, I think that's really, really important. When I launch events, let me say this too. Depending on event like my online event, I put out five months in advance. Pellevis, I put out about four or five months in advance. If I'm doing a smaller event, I may, on the minimum side, start promoting it two weeks in advance. Because people don't know their schedule just yet. Right. And so if you promote it too soon, people are like, what? I forgot about it. So just so you kind of know, if you're thinking about a big event, I would start promoting it months out ahead of time to when the big event is. So people can, it can be on the radar, especially if they have to fly in for pelvic biz. People have to fly in, get hotels, all that kind of stuff. So you at least want two months before that. What we did for these events is, number one, you have to have a purpose of the event. What is the event for? So maybe it was for my brick and mortar practice. I'm trying to connect all my local doctors and all my patients and I'm trying to just build a community. Maybe that's my purpose for pelvis. My purpose is to trying to get pelvic health therapists to come together to collaborate and talk about business so that everyone can accelerate their business and grow and impact more people in the United States and Canada and all across the freaking world. Okay? That's the purpose of it. So you need a purpose first. What is the goal of the event? Okay, so then after you create that, then you have to say, okay, who are the players in the event? Am I going to have speakers? Am I going to have patients? And I got like, what do we want to have doctors come? Like, what is the event for? So for some time, the brick and mortar in person, it can be for doctors only. Maybe you have a doctors only event. Maybe you have a patient and doctor event. So maybe it's for anyone and everyone in the community to come. Maybe it's specifically just for runners. Maybe it's just specifically just for people that have leakage. Again, it just depends on what the outcome of the event is going to give the person. I think that's really important. Then once you do that, I create a Google Doc, I put everyone that is going to be speaking on there so that way they can upload like a picture, their bio Their logo, all the different things on there. So that way it's very organized. What potentially they're going to be speaking about, if they're going to be speaking. If it's a brick and mortar event, like let's just say at my clinic, then pretty much I'm the only one that's going to be speaking there. I'll give away giveaways. So maybe you also have something where you reach out to your community and you're like, hey, would you like to give a basket or would you like to donate here to this cause? Or whatever, and then you're going to give that away as raffle tickets. So when people come into your brick and mortar practice, what do you want them to do? Do you want them to leave you a review? Yes. Do you want to go and have them subscribe to your YouTube channel? Yep, you betcha. Do you want them to go and put up a social media post of hey, I'm here at Orthopelvic, come join me right now? Yes. So those people should get rewarded and get baskets or raffle tickets or something, whatever. You have to entice them to come. And I do it like every 30 minutes. So it also keeps people staying around instead of them just coming in, getting their food and drinks maybe and then going out the door and going bye, bye. So I think that's important as well with events. And then at the end, you want to make sure you're collecting contact information. So whether or not it's online or in person, you really want to make sure that you are getting the name, email, phone number, so that way you can reach out. Because people are coming to the event because they're interested. They may not know that they have a problem yet, but they're interested. So they're kind of a warm lead. Anyone that comes into your world. So that may take a couple months to nurture them. That may take freaking years to nurture them. But maybe their friend has this issue and they're like, hey, I was just at this location or I just attended this online event. Like, this is what we. This is what would be really good for you. Like, you should check out these people. Right? So that's also why it's important, because word of mouth is super important. When they experience something and you bring them in, whether or not that's online or in person, you. It's going to give them an experience. And when you, when you nail that experience and knock it out of the park, people won't stop. I mean, they'll talk about you they will 100% talk about you and say yes. I recommend this person. So experiences and big event are I would say the top thing that can move your business forward a lot. So if you haven't done it, give it a try.
