Why You're Afraid to Charge What You're Worth — and How to Finally Get Over It

In this presentation Kelly Alhooie argues that sales for health professionals is fundamentally about helping people, not pushing products. She stresses that practitioners must truly believe their service can change lives and see themselves as the sole solution to a client’s problem. Drawing on her own background—growing up poor, massive student‑loan debt, and building multi‑seven‑figure health businesses—she illustrates how money‑belief issues can be overcome. Alhooie advises charging at least $200 per visit to run a sustainable practice, citing evidence from over 400 coached practices in towns of all sizes that achieve seven‑figure revenues when they adopt the right mindset and a unique method that proves value. She emphasizes that money earned is a reinvestment into the business and that undercharging stems from limiting beliefs taught in school. The talk combines personal narrative, mindset coaching, and concrete pricing strategy to empower health coaches to close sales confidently.

So now that we've got our messaging, we got our method, we understand how to communicate with people. Now we have to learn how to actually close them, slash, get them to become our actual patients or our clients. So this is when I get to talk about sales. I really enjoy talking about sales because sales to me is just helping people. That's all it is. Even if people want to perceive you as salesy, or oh my, they're scared of you because you like sales, or whatever it may be, or oh my God, heaven forbid you even talk to them because they think you're gonna sell them something. They immediately think you're, you're, they're gonna try to, you're gonna try to get them, you know. And I get that because there are people out there these days that do get people, but we got into health in the health space because we absolutely love helping people. I think that's truly from our heart that we love helping people. And so you got to remember that, that I'm not trying to sell anyone on anything. I'm really not. I'm not trying to sell anyone on anything. I know my products are so freaking good that it can change people's lives, and I need you all to believe that. I need you to believe that if they don't have your product or your service, that you cannot change their life. Like, this is real talk. And if you don't believe that, then maybe you shouldn't be a business owner. I need you to believe deep down so heavily that you are the only person to solve their problem. I know in the health space, I'm one of the very few that has grown multi-seven-figure businesses, had a brick-and-mortar, had an exit, grown online seven figures. I, I can tell you I've done a lot in a short period of time, and a lot of some of these other coaches have not done that and they're calling themselves coaches, but they haven't had all the levels that— and I'm sure there's even more, right? I haven't gotten to like you know, 10, 20 million. Like, I haven't done that. So I'm sure there's even more levels to this. And I say this all because the, the more that you climb, the more— you're never going to not have problems. You're never not going to solve everything. There's just different levels to the game. And I think this is why it makes me very qualified to be your coach, because I was you. I had money belief issues. I grew up very poor. I grew up with a single mom, 3 kids. She passed out the dollar bills, the fake dollar bills from the Monopoly game. I remember when I was probably, I don't know, in high school at some point, sitting at the dining room table, and she was like, I don't have enough to pay for your cheerleading uniform. I remembered this. This is the driver of why I do this, okay? This is literally the driver of why I do it. Because I don't want people to suffer like I had to go through in my childhood. When, you know, your parents work so hard— my mom works so hard. She scrubbed toilets at Chick-fil-A. She was a teacher. She worked 4 jobs. She worked at my gymnastics gym just to be able to afford, you know, the gymnastics because she couldn't pay it. She did. She worked 4 jobs ever since, I don't know, since I was like 5 years old. So it just was amazing to see what she can do. But I also realized this is what drives me, is my passion, because I don't want people to have to go through that. And then when I got out of medical school, I had so much student loan debt. I had $230,000 student loan debt. Well, you know how much I came out making? $62,000. So how could we ever pay that debt off? And by the way, I graduated when the recession hit. So it was at 10% interest rate, like the massive recession, you know. Um, it just— it was going to take me— I think it was going to take me 21 to 25 years, I think, to pay it off with insane amount of interest attached to that. And within one year of starting my company, I paid off $150,000 of it. It's just insane. It's life-changing. But y'all have to be good at selling, AKA helping people and showing them that you're the only person and that you're it. That's why I told you about the method, because the method is going to prove to them that you're the person to solve the problem, rather than just saying, I can help, I think I've helped a couple people. Okay, don't do that. Okay, and so today I'm really going to go in. First off, I have to change your money belief issues, because most of us have money belief issues because School taught us just help, help, help, and no one taught us about money. Okay, so I'm here to really help coach you through how to get over that money belief and, and how to know that it's okay to give a service and receive pay for that. The money does not belong to you because then you use the money to reinvest in coaching, or you reinvest in employees, or you reinvest in another course, or you reinvest in something else. The money doesn't belong, so I'm not taking anything. Taking something from someone would be like if I told them I promised them this one thing and then I never gave it to them. That's taking. You're not taking. You're solving a big life problem for them, a massive life— health is the greatest wealth, we know that— a massive life problem, and in return you're getting paid because the reward that you're giving or the outcome that you are getting to that person, that's it. You're not taking anyone's money. And a lot of y'all undercharge your worth, so that's a whole nother topic. But y'all need to be at least over $200 a visit to really make a practice, whether or not you're online or in person, actually work effectively. We've coached over 400 practices so far, online, hybrid, and in person. and I'm telling you it has to be over $200,000. Small towns, big towns, large towns, before you give me any of those objections, I will handle it right now. Um, all towns, okay? The smallest town in Texas we worked in, the smallest corner of upstate Washington we worked, we work with, and they're, you know, hitting 7 figures. So you can tell me small town all day long, but I have proof that from my clients that it's actually not about the town. It's about belief. And do you actually have a system that makes you unique to truly help and solve people's problems? That's it. So that's the first thing I have to say.
