A helicopter saw pilot (speaker) defends aerial tree trimming and pruning, arguing it promotes tree health and fuller regrowth. The speaker recounts personal experience (about 11.5 years in the operation), describes learning to use a helicopter saw, and explains the practical role of aerial cutting for hazardous dead ash trees during an emerald ash borer outbreak in Ohio, noting many ash trees are dead or brittle and climbers are not allowed in those trees.

We all love trees, and everybody loves trees. And that's the point. It's not. It's not that. No, we ain't killing them. We're. We're not chopping heads off or nothing. We're just trimming trees. And that actually promotes growth. Yes. Earlier. So Walter, they introduced me to Walter. Yes, sir. He goes. Yeah. Then we cut off last year. Whenever he goes, you should see him now. Green as ever. You know, making the point that the trees looked healthier now. Absolutely. It's, you know, like I said, we don't kill these trees. People might think we do. Not even close. We just trim them. We just, you know, prune them, make them look good. And I can tell you right now, they're going to grow back thicker and fuller, and we'll be back in seven to five years. Awesome. To trim it again. You know, there's a lot of us out here that. I'm a tree guy. I tell you right now, I started in the tree world, so I know. I know how these guys are out here. I know how to work the world. And now I get to fly a helicopter with assault. Very rare. Didn't even know about it until I seen it one day. Didn't have a clue about it until I seen it. I had never heard of it. And I knew I had to do something to do the sawing. And I got lucky. I got darn lucky. Guys like me, and like I said, that was 11 and a half years ago. Still at it. Crazy. Crazy. It's a great operation. It helps the guys tremendously out here. And right now, we got a major ash problem with the emerald ash borer. Killed so many ash, and almost every ash in the state of Ohio is gone. Dead in a mackerel, brittle as heck in the air. So we do not allow any climbers in those trees. So I take care of that. I go in there, I can work above these trees and take care of the dead trees that nobody can be around on the ground right now. Everybody's just waiting for them to fall over. That's part of the world. It.
