Behind The Scenes Live Training Tuesday

Kenny and Gary prep for a live training stream, setting up green screen and camera gear while discussing helicopter icing in an R22 and planning an overhead chart demo. They'll film MD 500 footage in Ohio with Jed.

And we're back for day two. Hope you enjoyed day one. So I'm gonna run down, see what's happening. I know that. Talked to Gary real quick before I came in, and they've already been out flying in R22 today. So let's go down, check in with Gary, see what's up.
Good morning, boss.
How'd the flight go? Pretty good. I talked to him.
It was snowing, started icing up a little bit.
Really?
So we came back in.
Cool. Good decision. That's what you gotta do when it's real close to freezing. Well, I'll get back to letting you guys do what you're doing. I brought and on live training Tuesday today, let's open up with a couple of the recent comments, you know, like the feedback that's just come in. Okay. We should be doing that every week. Okay. I mean, that's a good time to relay what we've been hearing from people.
If the weather's. He's gonna go on a night flight tonight.
Okay.
And they've already talked about that. Chris had to leave. So Chris will be back here to meet him for. To get his night cross country.
Nice. That's good because that'd be good to get that out of the way, obviously. Yeah. The weather supposed to be decent enough?
It's supposed to be decent, yeah.
Cool.
And oh, did you get Holly our logo for your hai giveaway to Whirly Girls?
Yep. Okay, done. Good deal. All right, I'll go get things ready for Tuesday. All right.
Do you want to fly with him this evening or something?
If the weather's nice, maybe we'll see what the weather's doing. I gotta figure out when I'm leaving for Ohio too. Okay, well, I'm gonna do that tonight or tomorrow. I was here late, but that's all right. We'll figure it out. Alrighty. Okay, so now it's time to get ready for live training Tuesday. It's about 11am we got less than. Or it's just after 11, so we got two hours get ready. So we got three main areas that we're working at. Over there's where we're running our software for the live training. Green screen in the background. So camera goes there. Then we got our second camera here for whoever's presenting. And then right over here is for whoever's monitoring YouTube comments. So depending on who's here, depends on what we do for the day. Today we're going to try out something a little bit different. We're up here presenting and we get Ready to do the charts. Now that we have things designed the way we are, we're just going to roll this camera straight down to a table with the charts on it and we can talk about the charts. Something we couldn't do before because we used to have this mounted the other way on a great big wooden thing in the middle of the room. So we got rid of that. So now this camera can swivel, swivel 360 degrees and also point straight down when we want to demonstrate, you know, with a overhead shot. So that's pretty cool. First get all the computers started, get them warming up, start loading the programs. Everything that we want to do live today. So time to get ready. Okay, Got about hour and getting everything turned on, everything ready to go. Loading up the program where everything goes. Got Heather over there checking out day one Hogs vlog video. See what she thinks. She'll be monitoring YouTube comments today. So next I'll show you. This is our balcony that just comes out of our offices. You saw Yesterday in day one, you saw the little R22 going out there, pushing it in and out by hand. We got the fancy C65 dolly for the instrument that's coming back. So hopefully we'll get a little footage of Gary this week chasing the instrument down and getting it back home. And that will be available for member training up to about at least May if not July. Do you have the ability to.
I'm gonna call this guy back, but I just happened to catch a phone call.
Probably we'll have to look at it. I've never done that, but we'll figure it out. Alright, this little clip, we're actually live right now on Live Training Tuesday, but we're rolling a video so I just thought I'd give you the behind the scenes here. This is what we do when we're rolling videos. We're talking amongst ourselves, talking about what we're getting ready to do next. And we're watching up here on the screen. I'll show you this. This is one of our monitors so we know what's live, what everybody's seeing and what shots coming up next. And then we're watching over here in the corner to see how much time we got before we're going to go live again.
So how's my hair and makeup?
The hair and makeup looks pretty good. And then we'll show you this. We're kind of proud of this. We're gonna do this live today. We're teaching or we're gonna go over VFR Terminal chart and helicopter route chart. So we're gonna take our main camera, camera one, and we're just gonna rotate that thing straight down. She's never gonna go ahead and try it.
Heather, push it forward.
It may be off. Is the power on?
Turn that switch.
Yeah.
Now push it forward and you'll watch it rotate down.
Nice. So we're just gonna.
Don't get carried away.
So we'll just rotate that down right to the sectional chart. So as we're going over the sectional chart, terminal chart, whichever we're working on. Boom. You have a nice overhead shot. I'll be operating it remotely, keeping it in, hopefully in focus. And we're live so our members can tell us, hey, how's it look While they're live. So that's a little behind the scenes of what we're doing. We're trading places and made Heather jump over there while I jumped over here to check comments and see who's in the comment area. Yeah, a little farther. Keep going. There you go. Perfect. Gary knows I'm real. I'm a real anal about the, about that shot. So real quick, I wanted to mention that everybody that's here. T. Gregory Berry, Sam Dougherty, Chris Anderson, Paul G. Jan Caleb, Becky, Taz Christman. Taz had a little issue, but I think he got that figured out. Our signal looks good here today. Awesome.
Laid on a table right underneath this. Mentioned that as soon as he switched electronic, he started zipping through the cross country calculations and gained his sanity back at reckoning skills. You just never know when the batteries are going to die or when you're going to have to figure your course manually. So Kenny wanted to jump in here with his thought on switching the total electronic calculations that we'll be sending him to on Monday. And plotter to figure his commercial.
But it's going to be a time, speed or distance problem. Most generally, Charles, even if you're nervous in a checkride, you got to use this thing. You go right there for time, speed and distance. Teaching somebody 40 minutes while you're flying. Okay, that's probably a little bit, you know, you should sit down, go through it, take some time. I'll tell you honestly what I did kind of concentrate on.
Okay, so what I've done here to get started is this helicopter route chart and it is scaled 1 to 125,000 direction. And you only will have to discuss your cross country with him. Just having it with me. But pick us up on a free trial. Free 24 hour trial.
Look, the training's proven we're going on our six year birthday. Hundreds of testimonials and I thought from now on when people ask, make sure we go look. That's the bottom line. I'm gonna go check comments while you think of anything. Gonna make me a wrap up video here. Someone hear me yakking. Okay, do you need to turn that off? Nah, I'm gonna leave it play. I'll turn it down just a hair and that's it. I've been sitting, I'm sitting here, it's 5:39 editing what you're watching right now. So I gotta put an end to it. Heather's over there blogging. Gary just left, went home and I'm gonna take off to go see Jed as much as I don't want to because it's late and I'm tired. But I promise you I'm coming. So I think I'm still going. So hopefully you enjoyed today's video again. I'm wrapping up now, actually editing now. So tomorrow is going to be traveling to Ohio to meet up with Jed, shoot as much as that as I can and hopefully get that up as the next video. Show you some MD 500 tree sawing videos, some interaction with Jed when I get there, a little bit about his career and what's going on. So I got to get back to editing so I can then pack up cameras, get ready and then try to get some sleep before I head to Ohio. So thanks for tuning in and we will see you in day number three.
