Best Kept Secret To Finishing YOUR Helicopter Rating

A YouTube video by Kenny Keller documenting a hands-on helicopter training session with student Todd Ketterman. The chunk records pre-flight verbal checks, short flight practice (instructors coaching on flare/leveling), a hangar tour and informal conversations (crew: Heather, Lindsay, Dylan), and wrap-up logistics: this was a multi-day (three-day) push toward a commercial checkride planned for the next day. Todd gives a testimonial praising the concierge-like, supportive training environment (food, lodging, one-on-one instruction) and reports becoming a new commercial pilot; Kenny narrates evaluation expectations (first 10–15 minutes reveal readiness). The setting is Class G airspace; local ground/flight flow and minor sponsor mentions (no-go button, helicopterground.com) are present.

Yes, good. How you doing? Oh, come here.
Good to find and see you in person.

How are you?
You're here.
I'm here. The hogs hanger.
How was the trip? It was beautiful. It was great. 3am up early.
I wonder what time you got up this morning.
Yeah, three.
You said you were an early bird.
Well, this was early.
That's too early, huh?
But no, it was good.
This is Lindsay over here behind the camera. Hi. Nice to meet you.
Nice to meet you too. Cool. How you doing?
Good. And Dylan's pointing a camera at us up there out the window of the office. Oh, sweet. So let's give you the tour.
It's funny because I've w. I. I've been watching your videos for. I don't know, you could look at how long I've been. Remember. Or whatever. Yeah.
And.
And watching and watching and seeing it. So being here, surreal. It's like oh my God, this is crazy. And being from Indiana and being back home and coming up through the back roads and I mean I. It just lot, lot.
That's awesome. And over here we have a bathroom with shower. So not that you'll need it but.
If we get too hot and sweaty.
Right. We have workbench where maintenance guy comes in, which is nice.
He can back up.
The door has his tools. Here's the bench for him to do the work area. And then here the hogs wall paint.
Oh my gosh. So this is amazing. I mean you see it on video but that being here and seeing. It's amazing.
Right?
This is awesome. This is so cool.
What are we at 290 pictures now? I think. Yeah, for sure.
I mean this is. This is something else.
So.
Wow.
So is this time for tear from our sponsor before we eat?
Yeah.
We'll be right back. Hell yeah.
Live to fly another day. Helicopterground.com we're back.
Thanks to the no go button and Todd's laying his stuff out right now. And once we go through the paperwork, I'll let Todd pre flight the helicopter so he can have his little one on one time with it. Get to Know it maybe find something that I haven't seen so far. And then we're gonna go fly an hour and I'll evaluate where he's at and I pretty much figure in the first 10 or 15 minutes I'm gonna have a good idea whether hey, it's gonna be an easy three hours or oh, okay. Todd, we've got some work to do here. But I have pretty good feeling that going to go good. We're class G. We don't have to travel anywhere to go fly somewhere else. We go right from the ramp right into the. Looking nice. That feet in there looking good. Level and roll in. Not too damn bad. Let's go do that again.
That felt better.
That was a ton better.
Yeah.
That was a ton better.
Yeah.
Traffic 2630M. It's all you. It's all you. You're doing it.
Looking good, looking.
So day two, we're done. Todd's over there putting stuff away. We're getting ready to leave in the morning as you would expect. I'm tired. Plan on a good checkride tomorrow but there's a lot to this even on a short one like this through a little three day deal. So Todd I agreed to do in three days because I had that working relationship with him. We've done.
We did a ton of ground before.
He came up because he's already a pro member from the private. So we're gonna push it in and we're gonna leave and crack ass of don to go to the checkride. So we'll see what happens tomorrow. Peace out.
Perfect.
I mean that's kind of how I feel. Yeah. And it's the reality of where we're at. Yeah. It's late. I'm tired. Here's what, that's what I'm doing.
Yeah.
It's been a day. It's been a day. And we had the two weeks leading up to it and getting ready and.
Oh yeah, all that whole lot of.
Time spent spent into this. Hell yeah. Guess the motel capture way.
Yeah.
Sam, The brand new commercial pilot. Todd Ketterman all the way from Florida. Longtime hogsmember.
Yeah, I mean this was an incredible experience. I mean just to be here and you work with Kenny and meet the whole crew and Heather and just have this, you know, to go, to go through, to brush up to get ready for the commercial. It was more than just here, fly and do this. It was the experience. It was all of hogs. It was all of you guys just giving me that time. I mean it's very concierge in the way in which it was brought together. We had food, we had everything we needed. I got to spend as much time here. We got to brush up on stuff. We were able to just come out and fly. To do anything, I mean, that's unheard of to have that. But the experience of being here just to calm down, just to be here, it was just incredible. I can honestly say that, you know, if you are in any way at a point where, you know, you're ready to go for a cert, you're ready to do, you know, that prep work, and you need that one on one, no pressure. You got the instructor, you got the airport, you got the whole inside. You got couches, you got food, you got drink, you got water, you got coffee. You just got everything you need. The setting is incredible. There's a real. There's a real feeling in this place that. That just kind get you in the right headspace. So I can't say enough about what Kenny, Heather, the whole team here has put together to come out and do that. So just, again, if you're at a point where you're ready to have that experience and have something really cool that's just gonna, you know, dust off the edges, the rough edges, and get you ready and pumped up, there's no other place, I guarantee you, that's gonna get you ready for that. But thank you, guys. Thank you. Awesome. Thanks.
He.
Congratulations. Thanks, Kenny. How about them bears?
Okay, fine.
Thank you.
He walked away from the hug. Hey.
Bye. Hug. Screw. Bye, todd. So it's funny, I got Kenny on the way back because as a commercial pilot now, you can get paid to fly, right? But you can't just go get paid to fly. But there's certain elements that allow you to get paid to fly. So obviously I'm here and I'm paying for my time in the helicopter model. So I said, we're flying back. And I said, okay, this is the first time I'm actually getting paid to fly. He goes, what are you talking about? I'm like. He goes, no, you can't. And I go, well, this is your helicopter, and I'm flying you. And there is a provision in the far that says if he's the owner and he's asked me to fly, he pays me.
So. Right.
Pay flight back, you know, And I.
Told him to f off.
I sent him an invoice for tunnels aviation.
No, you don't. Todd's having his yoda time with the lor44.
