Sarah Greene walks through five ways to renew a CFI certificate under FAA rules. You can renew by passing 80% of your students' checkrides, completing a refresher course, holding a check airman role, passing a military proficiency check within 12 months, or using an FAA-approved simulator. If you let it lapse past 24 months, you take a full checkride.
