EP 21 Aviation Induced Divorce Syndrome

This is a short YouTube episode (EP 21) hosted by Kenny Keller with guest Chris Hauser discussing the social and financial risks of pursuing aviation training. They emphasize that flight training requires significant time and money, can strain relationships if not discussed with partners, and recommend open discussion, starting with a private pilot path within budget, and maintaining life balance. The episode closes with a free helicopter maneuver guide offer and a preview of the next video.

Foreign. Okay. Hey, welcome back to HOGS daily flight Brief. I'm Kenny Killer, creator of Helicopter Online Ground School. This is Chris Hauser, Chopper Guy.
What is Chopper Guy 53.
Chopper Guy 53. @ Instagram, currently with Sweet Aviation.com Flying the Cadbury G2among among with some other aircraft. Chris came up with today's topic, and it is. He first brought it up as, you know, make sure you discuss this with your family or your significant other when you go to get into aviation. Just because of the time, the commitment, and all the things that can go.
Into.
Learning to fly any kind of aircraft. If you're going to do well, you're going to have to put some considerable time in learning to fly and studying. We did a video on this. You got to commit to study, and there's going to be a lot of time to that. So it's a good idea to discuss this. You know, I'm a dreamer, and I always say, go for your dreams, go for your goals. I'm a true believer in going for your dreams, but I also true believer in family comes first and don't do anything. You know, that's. Aviation can ruin you financially. It can ruin your home life, just, you know, within reason. So I'll let you take it from here, Chris. Since you brought the title up, I know you had somewhere you kind of wanted to go with it.
Well, I was just. You had that acronym, and I started laughing about it. I never heard that. But my main thing is that this is a big thing. This is a. It's a big commitment. It's a big financial commitment. You better discuss this with your significant other. You better make sure that they're on board. I mean, and everybody wants, you know, you want to be supported by people. You know, you want to be supported by your family and your friends and whomever. So, you know, if you're married and your wife hates you doing that, I mean, you're. You're probably gonna, you know, your mind's gonna be distracted, you're gonna have problems at home. You know, she's gonna hate you. Then when your bills start coming in, you know, the credit card or whatever, she's gonna be like, oh, my God, you're spending that much money on just to learn to go out there and do nothing. I mean, you know, and I hate for, you know, a significant other to put down someone's dreams, you know, if that's what you want to do really bad. It's just. But I mean, I'm. I was married and divorced. I'm not saying aviation caused my divorce, but there was some times there where, you know, I'd say, hey, I'm gonna go fly. And she'd say, well, when are you gonna be home? A couple hours. Well, four hours later, I'm not home. Where are you? Well, I'm still at the airport, you know. Well, you said two hours and it just.
And you're legitimately at the airport and.
You'Re there and then, you know, then you come home and then to read about, you know, the next day's, you know, lesson or you need to watch some videos on whatever, you know, there's got. You got to do some studying. So, you know, my thing was that you better just have an open discussion with your significant other about how much time it's gonna. You're gonna have to put into this and how much money you're gonna have to put into this, you know, because it does. Cause you know, now if you have a significant other that is totally backing you, then that's even better because, you know, when you, when you, when you have that. Learn better, you have a better mental attitude. You show up at the airport happy, you know, you don't show up. And just to your instructor, well, I just got a big fight because I told my wife I was flying again today, and she's mad at me. And you know that because that's just all. That's all goes against your mental, you know, your mental state of mind, so.
Absolutely, absolutely. It's how you feel comes out in your flying on a daily basis. One day you can fly really, really well, and the next day you can fly and not. And just be horrible night and day difference if things aren't, you know, going. What is that? Is that turkeys?
Those are all turkeys. Look at that. Oh, nice.
That's. That's cool. So, yeah, you know, go for your dreams, but also find life balance. You know, as we get older, you start figuring out, you know, you gotta learn life. You gotta learn some life balance and just be aware of it. And maybe you take a. Rather than just going whole hog, I'm gonna go do this and change my profession. Start with the private. Like we always say, start flying and do something in your budget and see how, See what happens. See how much you love it. Just beware. Something good to think about. All right, down below we have a helicopter maneuver guide. Check it out. It's free. Free PDF. You can download it, check it out, print it off.
