He highlights key FAR parts (notably Parts 43, 61, 67, 71, 91 and NTSB 830) that private pilots should know and stresses using the FAR/AIM as a core resource during training and checkrides.

Okay, next up, I want to hit the FAR AIM manual. Part 43 maintenance 67 medical certificate 71 airspace. This is from my original notebook and I need to update this because this is what I teach. Now if you have your FAR AIM with you, if you don't go grab it real quick. But what I think is important is when I have a new student, I take their FAR AIM and I go here. This is what you're going to need to know. At the private level, pretty much part 43 is maintenance 61 certification 67 medical certificates and standards, part 91 operating a flight rules and NTSB 830. And I highlight those and I tell them, look, you got to be good with using the FAR AIM manual. When you go to take your checkride. Hopefully you're going to see some tabs on here and the COVID is going to be worn because if you show up at checkride and you got that brand new FAR AIM sitting there and it's all nice, he's probably going to dig a little bit because he's going to wonder does this guy really know the FAR AIM manual or does he not? Part of being a good pilot is using your resources and the FAR AIM is very, very important. And I'm amazed at the amount of guys that don't.
