Hey, it's Kenny with helicopter online ground school. Rain's coming down out there. It's getting louder and louder. Hopefully it won't get too loud. Going to do a quick live event here. We haven't done a whole lot of live events this summer. July, June, July. We've been super busy behind the scenes and I'll get to that in a minute. But right now I talk about Dantaz Christman is getting his award for from the FAA next week at Oshkosh 2018. Flight Instructor of the Year. Gives me goosebumps just saying it. Dan's a good friend of ours. Dan has helped us build the instrument online course that we currently have. And Dan and I are co authoring a book. Well, we've co authored a book. We're getting ready to release it. It's called the top 10 checkride tips. And Dan and I are working on this together. Dan's at home in Vegas right now inside the viewer. This is a clip from our online viewer where we can check out the book. I'm going to give you a little hint of that. The beauty of this kind of stuff and this kind of work is Dan and I are working on this together. We started back in February and we both are really busy with everything we do full time. Dan even more than me. That guy's a maniac. So we've been able to do a project like this through pretty much text messages, phone calls, sending documents back and forth. And this is the online view. So you're seeing it as Taz is seeing it because he just was heading home from work a little bit ago when I was texting with him. So I said, go in, check it out. This may not be the final cover. It may be the final cover. We have Jed in the background, which is another one of our great stories we love talking about. And Sharon, I picked that photo. We may pick another photo, something Dan likes. But the point is it's Kenny Keller and Dan. Taz chrisman top 10 checkride tips ease the Overwhelming overwhelmed. I created Helicopter Land Ground school, launched in 2012. Dan, Taz Christmas has been doing incredible stuff for the last, well, 20 years or more. Dan is a. If you don't know Dan yet, he flies for the Air Force. He's an airplane instructor, helicopter instructor, versed in so many things. The guy's resume is really, really, really long. And we've been impressed with Dan all along, not only because of his resume, but because of all around nice guy. You know, he can walk around with a chip on his shoulder because his resume is so cool and the things he's flown in the Air Force and the accomplishments he's got, they're just absolutely amazing. So we're celebrating launching the book. We're planning on having it out in the next couple days. We're going to have the digital copy ready and then the paperback will follow. I'm going to do a live event next week. I'm not sure which day Taz is getting his award on Thursday morning, 9:00am at Oshkosh, I believe, at the base of the control tower. From what he told me, I'm going to try to get up there and I really would love to be there when he gets that award just because what a cool moment in time for Dan to receive this award. And our plan is to have our new book at Amazon number one bestseller. I've done it twice. Third book hit number three. Re release that one sometime. Hopefully hit number one on that one. But let's celebrate. Stay tuned over the next few days and share this video for us. Put a like on this video for us and make a comment in support of Dan. Again, I can't say enough. What an incredible individual, an all around nice guy. I went to Vegas this year. Dan was with us every day at Heli Expo along with Brian Rutledge and we were out meeting people and Dan was there the whole time and when Heli Expo was over he's like, ah, hang around a couple of days, you know, don't go home yet. So I hung around after Heli Expo, stayed with Dan and we went out in the Las Vegas desert and did a bunch of flying the Schweitzer and shot a bunch of really cool video with the Schweitzer Outer end Red Rock Canyon, did a video on what we call the perfect pinnacle. Dan showed me this pinnacle and I was just like that's the coolest thing I've ever seen. So I'm going to try to wrap this up. I want to add a few things behind the scenes. Gary has been working on the flight instructor course, online refresher course, working on FA approval for that. So that's still off a little bit into the future, but he's been working really hard on that. We just got approved for FAA webinars and this week gentleman I flew with during EMS, who was my base manager when I worked for Omniflight, flew with him for two and a half years. I flew BK117 Rex Alexander. He is going to do the first FAA webinar with us on helicopter. I'M sorry, on helipads. And Rex is an expert in the field of helipads. He does that now as one of his. One of the many things that he does now is goes out and consults people on helipads, helipad design, helipad safety. And he's going to be with us live on the first FAA webinar we're going to do in August and specifically on helipads. And it's really cool because a lot of us for years have said, you know, there's not a lot of good information out there. You got to really search out to find information about heliports and helipads. So Rex is an expert in that field and he's going to be joining us on our first FAA webinar. So we're approved for all that. That's all ago we had an awesome three or four hour training with the faa, who came right here to us and worked with us in the studio and got us all approved for all that. So we're going to be doing FAA webinars not only for just helicopters, we're going to do FAA webinars that are going to be helicopter specific, just for the helicopter crowd and you'll be able to get wings credit for that. But we're also going to do general webinars for all aviation pilots, for example, weather related topics, to keep you out of trouble and try to keep you safe. They basically said anything that you can do to promote safety and keep people alive, we're all for it. So you can make a helicopter specific webinar or you can make it general aviation webinar for those things that are relative to both fixed wing guys or helicopter people, guys and girls. So that's a lot of what's been going on behind the scenes, a lot of stuff. We backed off the live events because we did so many for so long and we just kind of had to get a break. I'm going to show you real quick our wall of fame. I'm going to swing the camera around here. Some of you have seen this, maybe not, but this we've been working on. You got to see this. Here is our wall of fame with all the members that have sent in pictures, testimonials, most of them after passing their checkrides. And we've been posting those pictures. We've been posting those each day on our blog, we call it the Newsroom on our website. And we've been highlighting, you know, everyone. The stories are fascinating. The people that we've met around the World. It's just absolutely amazing. And, you know, we're honoring everyone by putting up their pictures on the wall. So many of them are like Caleb, for example, you know, private commercial instrument. Each time they're so excited when they get through the checkride, they share a picture with us or indoor video. And we're getting more and more videos of those. Now I'm going to put up. Well, I put up a video yesterday of Kyle Parish, this instrument on one day, the following day did his commercial and he sent us videos both days. And that's a great story because I met him at Heli Expo in February. Young guy looking for a start in the industry. And he'd been struggling for years to, you know, like, get his ratings. And he's like, man, I want to find a place where I can go and possibly get a job. Minutes later, I run into the guys from Sevier County Choppers and they go, hey, Kenny, you know how we always got a boys, we're always booked with students and we're full. I'm like, yeah. And they go, right now we got no one. And I'm like, you're kidding. You have the best. One of the best programs in the country where they take someone off the street all the way to double I in six months and give them a job. And people laugh at that. And it's true. Travis Gregg, another one of our ground school members, he is the first one that alerted me or told me about Sevier county choppers. Back about four years ago. Travis called me up one day. Travis is on the COVID of my Amazon best seller, Helicopter Checkride. Travis is on the COVID with me. This young guy started out off the street. Six months later, he was a double I. He called me up and goes, kenny, I'm a double I. I'm going to work. And then a year or two later, I met him when he was flying a Jet Ranger in the Smoky Mountains. Now he's flying ems. So I knew about this program. So here's a young kid looking for the opportunity. I run into the guys just minutes later that are like, hey, we're ready for a student full time. We'll take them all the way through, put them to work. And that's Kyle Parish. We hooked him up. I hooked both of them up there at the Expo and boom, within couple days it was a done deal and Kyle was moving to Tennessee to fly with those guys down there and get his ratings. So I want to share just a little bit more of the book with you while I'm talking To finish up Here again, top 10 checkride tips, we just kind of take a lot of the basic, basic elements because sure there's hundreds or thousands of pieces of information that any one person has to know for a checkride, but you got to have the basic elements and we give you the tips of things that we've seen and heard over the years. Mistakes and just the whole idea of getting prepared and being prepared is what it's all about because you have to study. But if you show up late or you don't have an item with you, you miss one of those little tiny items, those are the things that trip people up. So we really hammer, not only do you have to study, but all the stuff that trips people up. Taz even spoke with some examiners in Vegas and talked to them and he just did this recently. So this is one chapter we added to. It's a bonus chapter. I think it's chapter 12. That's a bonus information on top of our 10 top 10 checkride tips. Taz put in some additional information and then the chapter called from the examiner or from the examiners where he went out and talked to the examiners, said, hey, what are you seeing that applicants are struggling with and what kind of problems are they showing up and having? So that's in the book too. So I said this was going to be short so I'm going to wrap it up. So please give us a like and share on this video. Stay tuned for the release of the book in the next couple days. Help support us for all we've done. Help support Taz for everything that he's done. This has been an amazing six year ride. I don't know what to say other than I never dreamed that this was going to turn into what it has. And it's just incredible the amount of people that we've been able to help. I met with my first instructor last night. I hadn't seen him in about eight or 10 years and he was in the area and I went and met him for supper last night. The one that is my good friend. And I failed my first checkride and we were laughing about it last night because I said thank you. Because as hurtful as it was failing my first checkride, I've turned it an entire career. You know, things would have never been about a past. The first time I'd just be flying some job somewhere making a, you know, just doing the average Joe blow thing. So anyway, that first failure was the best thing that ever happened to me. Created a whole business and he's going to come up and we're going to discuss that a little bit. We're going to talk about what kind of a student I was and that day of the checkride and how I got all screwed up and why I failed. It was a blast seeing him. There's absolutely no hard feelings. He's an incredible instructor and I want him to teach. He had something he talked about called the Donut of air and you know, he has this German accent and it's just fun to listen to him explain this donut of air around the rotor system. We were laughing about that last night. So, you know, we remain friends all these years. I was even in his wedding, you know. So that's the kind of things that happen. It goes way beyond just student and instructor, you know. And he was laughing last night going ha. The you know, student has become the teacher, you know. And we were laughing, laughing about it was a good time. So like and Share Please Comment this video Stay tuned for the digital copy coming out in a couple days.
