Flight Review / Rusty PIlot / New Online Ground School Course by HOGS

Kenny Keller (Helicopter Online Ground School) announced a soft-launch YouTube live on July 16, 2020 for a new "flight review / rusty pilot" online course aimed at rated pilots who need a refresher for their biennial flight review or to regain proficiency. The course is offered as a monthly membership priced at $29 with a 24-hour free trial (system may bill around 25–26 hours), includes several hours of ground-school videos and optional 30-minute phone consultations with Brian Rutledge, and is initially available only via a link sent to the email list and shown in the video's description (not yet on helicopterground.com). Heather handles member onboarding, support, and shipping; contact options and support workflows are described in the video.

All right, welcome to our big announcement for flight review. This is a brand new course that we're launching right now, July 16, 2020. Brian Rutledge is in chat right now. He said hello to a few people. I see John said John Stream from Santa Clarita. Hello, Kenny and Brian. This is meant for me. Gotta go turn my volume down. Okay. Hopefully you're not getting an echo. So what we have for you is a brand new course. It's not even available on our homepage@helopterground.com where you get private, commercial, CFI and instrument. We just launched right now. I just put a link live that's below this video. And this is only going out to people on our email list who have downloaded free books or past members didn't send it out even to members that already have courses. This is tonight, just for those of you who are looking at a flight review coming up or a rusty pilot. So either you're a subscriber to YouTube and you got notification you're here, or you got the email sent out. I sent out just a little bit ago. So we didn't want to, you know, a lot of time people like to make a big launch out of something and turn it into a big event over days. And we thought, you know what, let's put it out to just our email list and our YouTube subscribers because we want to get some people in and start consuming the content. And what we've done in the past for going on nine years, in nine, let's see, March of 2021 will be online nine years. Okay. And in nine years, we've created four courses. Four courses, private, commercial, CFI or instrument. And we get lots of people asking, what about this type of course and what about that type of course. And we've wanted to keep our focus on the content we have and the members we have. However, we felt like one that we should move forward with. And Brian and I decided this in around March was a flight review because we, we get a lot of people that ask about a course for flight review. And we also get a lot of people that ask about a course for rusty pilot. And of course, you know what a flight review is. Most of you, if you're a rated pilot, you know, every 24 months you have to have your flight review that consists of one hour flight and one hour ground. So of course you can open up any book you want to study, anything you want to. But we thought, why not create a course low cost and the meat of what a person needs to know. So this isn't for brand new private pilot that's still working on your rating because we have a full course for that, a full intense course. And the private pilot course is intense. It's well over 120 videos, 18 hours of instruction. It's a heavy duty course. That course is built for people that are going for their private pilot rating. We want to have something for those people that are getting ready for a flight review. And then we also have a lot of people. Over the years I've had so many people email me or like Kenny, I haven't flown in two or three years. I've had people as far as haven't flown in 20 years, right. And I get a lot of CFIs even where they'll email me, hey Kenny, I haven't, I haven't been teaching for about five years, but I want to renew my CFI and get out there, start working, you know. Do you have a course just for like to help refresh my knowledge? So we put this out again. The link is down below. It's 29 bucks. And with this course you get the 24 hour test flight, which is the same of all of our monthly recurring memberships. So understand it's a membership. The thing is you can keep it as long as you like and cancel anytime. And when you sign up, you get the first 24 hours for free, right? So you can sign up. You have to go to that link below, sign up and enter your credit card information. But the system does not bill you for over 24 hours. With this system's been in place for three years. We know how it works. I just tested it the other day. It actually takes more like 25, 26 hours before your credit card gets billed. So in the first 24 hours, if you'd like to try out the flight review Rusty pilot course, you sign up, you can, you'll get an email right away that gives you access to the course. You can go in and take a look at it and decide, yeah, I think this is something that I want to pursue. Keep it. And after 24 hours, you'll be billed for the first month. If you're getting ready for your flight review or whatever it is you're doing, you want to refresh your knowledge. You get through the course in a week, two weeks, simply unsubscribe and you will not be billed again. And you do that from settings within the site or ending it in PayPal. And if you have trouble and that's really easy to do, it's really easy to unsubscribe but if you have trouble, you email any one of us, me, Brian or Heather, and we can deactivate it for you. It's that simple. So you have a full 30 days to use the course. Let's say you got it and you started on it and then life got in the way. It's going to bill again the next month. So you can keep it as long as you like. You can cancel anytime yourself, cancel or have us do it for you. And you can come back anytime, which is what we do with all of our monthly memberships on, on private commercial CFI instrument. This course is set up exactly the same way because we want you to have the ability to come in for less than an hour of what you pay to flight school. I mean, now flight schools can charge 50, 60, 70, and even more. So for a low fee of 29 bucks, you will get several hours of ground school going through all the things that we think you need to know. And of course we're going to hit the things that we think are going to kill you, right? Things that are really, really important and things that you're. That you should be asking a flight review. We know a lot of times, you know, flight reviews are held the way they're supposed to be, where an instructor sits down with you and does an hour of ground. Sometimes people might fudge that a little bit, but your knowledge needs to be good all year round and especially for your flight review. And an instructor, if he finds your knowledge is not up to speed, can say, you know, we've done an hour here at ground, but you're pretty, you're pretty behind on some of these things and I don't feel comfortable signing you off. They may say we need some more ground or they may say, go home, study a little bit and come back. You need to be proficient to stay safe in the aircraft and get through this flight review. So that's what it's designed as. So the course is down there and ready. Hopefully somebody's maybe jumped in there and purchased it. I just checked before going live and nobody bought it yet. The first person that signs up, we're going to send you a no go button. Heather will send this to you now. I'll know who it is because inside our membership site we'll know the first person to buy. So it doesn't do you any good to type it in here. It says I'm the first because I'm not inside the site watching to see who actually shows up in the system first. Heather emails every single New member that signs up for any course with helicopter on ground school. So Heather will email you because we'll know the first person to sign up. I mean, if you've signed up, go ahead and tell us in there that you've signed up. But, but the first person, we're going to send you a no go button. Neat deal. It's turned into a good thing. So again, whether it's a flight review or whether it is a rusty pilot, you want to go through the course, it's there for you, up and ready. And again, either your YouTube subscriber or you're on our email list. So we wanted to, instead of just making a big launch and putting it out to the world and putting it on the home site, Brian, I said let's, let's make a little more of a soft launch here, get some people in it because we were, we were going through it today and fine tuning and you know, we've went through and Brian's responsible for putting this together and he's really went through and you know, put a lot of thought into what really has to be in a flight review. So moving forward, we may change some things, we may add some things. Brian and I were just chatting before I went live tonight. He's like, yeah, I wanted to put some NTSB reports in there and some other things. All good, that's all coming. Every course we've had, we've built. Well, my first course I built from scratch. But for the past nine years we've continued to grow helicopter online ground school by member feedback. When you tell us what you like, what you don't like, what you think is missing or could be added, we always take that feedback as we move forward. As we update older videos, we produce new content to put in different places. We're always taking that consideration, your feedback. So we wanted to do kind of, like I said, kind of a soft, we'll call it a soft opening. Get some people in there consuming the course, check it out, put your feedback right below any of the videos because when you put your feedback under the videos, we'll all see it. I'll see it, Heather sees it, Brian sees it. And you can also email brian direct brianelicopterground.com and you're welcome to email me, but Brian's in charge of the course and since Brian has put it together, I really want Brian to see your comments and feedback firsthand because he put it together so as that feedback comes in he can go, yeah, I was wanting to add that or that's a good idea or we have that planned. But we talked about it, we thought, you know what, there's enough content in there to launch this thing and get it out to the world. And again, once we start getting feedback, then we can really fine tune the course. So it's brand new. I just put it live. I checked the link. You should be able to sign up by that link that's down below the video and it should give you access. So stand by us considering it's brand spanking new. We've been building it for a time, but I built the sales page and the signup page. Just built it in the last hour. Okay. So bear with us. If you try to sign up and you have some kind of an issue, feel free to email me kennyelicopterground.com because I'll get to the quickest because it's evening time. So we want you to go in, sign up and check it out. So I'm gonna run over here and see what we got. What do we have? Can I steal this mouse? Yeah, I can. I just want to see what comments have been made. I know Brian's in there. There's Daniel. As always, I'm all ears. Hopefully we've answered your questions if you don't ask us. Brian Bay. Hello from Las Vegas, Nevada. Awesome. Looks like Louis student pilot here. Great videos. Thank you. There's Paul G. Hello, all. Brian, John and I spoke yesterday, but I did not mention this since I didn't know we actually would do this today. Yes, I threw it out on Brian today because we were discussing on the phone and I'm like, you know what, I'm going to the airport. I'm going to launch it. So Brian didn't know as of yesterday. He didn't know when it was going to happen. I just popped it on him earlier. I'm like, well, hey, you want to go live in about an hour and a half? He's like, but actually I text him right before we went live and said, are you ready? He goes, yeah. He goes, I just looked at it. There's a lot of great content in there because I'm not nervous at all. I've got a couple things I want to change. I said, that's fine, don't worry about it. The content's there. There's plenty to consume to get those of you again, somebody going for flight review this. You can't take this and use it as a private pilot course because that's not what it's designed for. This is not for student Pilots. This is for rated pilots that want to refresh their knowledge. And we get a lot of private owners and we know that private owners that are rated a lot of times don't have access to a flight school or they don't have a instructor handy that they really fly with and they want something that they can go in and use and refresh their knowledge because they're already rated. We don't necessarily need to teach them cross country again, but we need to keep the things in their head fresh, like emergencies, how you get into trouble, how you get out of trouble, what kinds of things are going to be asked on a flight review. So that's what it's designed for. So back to the questions. PAUL g. Flight review completed. 5 7. Awesome. Kevrav100 hey guys. Maverick1 Kenny how badly has COVID 19 affected the helicopter industry? You know, somebody else just asked me that and I would love for anybody to put your feedback down below what you think at this point. I haven't, I hate to, you know, knock on wood, right? I think we're still doing pretty good. I think we're better off than of course, a lot of the fixed wing side of it in as far as like 135 and things like that. A lot of flight schools are opening back up. We know a lot of flight schools were closed recently, but we know a lot of them are opening back up and we're really excited about the amount of people that have sent in pictures just in the last month. A lot of people sending in pictures because they just got to their checkride because their flight school opened back up. So people are staying after it and that's what we were hoping for. So from what I'm seeing in the flight training world, I really haven't heard any, anything other than, you know, people being upset because their flight school was closed for a time in some areas of the country and some of them may still be closed. So that certainly doesn't help. But you know, helicopters are used in such a wide variety of things that are, that are important to have, right? Police, fire, utility lines. The list is endless of helicopters being used and what would be of course, essential businesses. So from what I've seen, it isn't hurt that bad as of yet. And let's hope that, you know, things will continue to get better versus worse in our country and around the world. PAUL G. Wings can help with the ground portion of the flight review. BRIAN Maverick one Schools are still flying corporate helicopters, still flying firefighting. Same thing. I just kind of said all right, Maverick1, what else we got here? KB9ZZO need more instrument training videos. We haven't. Okay, what else do we got here? Oh, there's Heather. So Heather, you just got the rundown on the new course just launched. She knew we'd been putting it together. She didn't know we were going to launch either. Just because I decided two hours ago, Brian, we're launching this thing. So you know Heather is answering our phone seven days a week taking care of it. Not meaning she answers at 2 o' clock in the morning, but she checks the hog's phone continually. And you can either call Heather at 574-767-1797. You can also text Heather at that number. And then what Heather does is Heather takes care of a lot of our daily things that members may need questions, they may have Heather hand handles, sign up questions. So Heather, this is just as our other our courses they have the 24 hour test flight and then it's month to month. The link is down below. You can ask Heather anything. If she can't answer it for you, Heather will move it on to me or Brian. And we do have a consultation with new members. So I guess Brian, we should extend that for this course as well. Wouldn't be fair to not. So if you sign up for the new course, we will give you a phone consultation. Fly get off me. 30 minute phone consultation with Brian Rutledge. And so many people have found that so helpful. Brian caught a young man the other day where somebody new signed up for our course and this person called Brian and they were a week away from checkride and Brian just started asking this gentleman random questions. And pretty quick this guy decided to cancel his checkride and make it for about a month out because he realized all the holes that there were in his ground school from Brian just asking him questions. And that is so often the case. I got a jet or something going by out here. Oh, helicopter probably EMS helicopter going by. So what's my train of thought? Oh, I know so many times people think that they're ready for a checkride and a lot of times like I'll do an evaluation for someone and you know, there I'm ready and then five minutes later they're going to I'm not as ready as I thought I was. Right. You should be going through the PTS to prepare for these checkrides. Your instructor should be going through the PTS with you. But we know what goes on in a lot of flight schools. Fly, fly, fly, blade spinning. The kid flying doesn't care because he's building his hours. That's the bottom line. And sometimes it's not a kid, sometimes it's a older pilot, been teaching for 40 years and he doesn't want to do ground anymore. So they throw the book at you and say, here's the book, read it. It's a self study course. So that was very helpful that this member found that after talking to Brian and Brian kind of showed him that, hey, you're a week away from a checkride. Knowledge is not probably where it should be. Let's see. Daniel the new course sounds awesome. How it continues to keep getting better and better. Awesome. Heather I love it. Brian yes. Each member will have the option for a phone consultation. Daniel thank you, Brian. So there you go. Heather schedules those. So Heather will email you when you sign up for any of our courses and she'll offer that phone consultation up to you and make the arrangements to get your phone consultation with Brian. So to recap, I'm going to wrap it up. We just launched a brand new course. It is not@helopterground.com as yet, as of yet, because we want to get some people in there consuming it, see how the flow goes, make sure all the videos work, get a feel for it. And then a little bit down the road when we make some final touches to it, we'll put it up on helicopterground.com and we'll make it available out there to the public. But for right now, the only way you can get this is the link that's down below this video and it's a, it's an oddball looking link so I'm not even going to try to tell you what it is. It's in the description box below. When you sign up, it'll take you right to the sign up page. You sign up one more time, you get a 24 hour test flight, meaning for the first 24 hours you don't get billed. Go in, take a look, take a look at the videos. If you want to keep it, you do nothing but keep it for the next 30 days at any time. If you're done and you're ready to go and your knowledge is prepped, go into Settings in the lower left hand corner and remove your credit card from Settings. Or if you signed up with PayPal, simply log into your PayPal account and just end the subscription. It's very easy to do. If you have trouble with that email, preferably heatherelicopterground.com but you can email any of us. Kenny, Helicopterground, Imbrian helicopterground.com so again, it's a monthly subscription. Keep it as long as you like. You can cancel anytime and you can come back anytime. And that's the beauty of the monthly memberships. They're all very inexpensively priced. Brian and I discuss this all the time. And he said it's still, it's still cheap. Like for the amount of training that you get. For any one of our memberships, it's very inexpensive. When you look at the cost of ground school, your time, driving to the airport, sitting down with an instructor, driving back home, our training memberships are cheap, and I will say cheap. They're not cheap on content, they're full of content. But we've kept the price low like we have because that's just good business and we're happy where we're at with the pricing. Hasn't been raised in years and we have a lot of value. You know, I always say the burden is on us to provide you the value. It's not the other way around. We do our best to provide you good, valuable content that you can use. And our goal this year that we've already met through our feet, through, we know from feedback, our goal this year was to take Hog's customer service to the next level and make it the absolute best that we can with three of us working basically full time. And we've done that. We just had a gentleman the other day that got the welcome email from Heather after the automated email and he was so thrilled and he said, I can't believe I got a human voice or a human email. And then a phone consultation as well. Your customer service, awesome. And I said, there you go. I told Brian, Heather both. That's what I'm after. That's why Heather only comes in on Tuesdays. And when she comes in on Tuesday, she helps me go live. And she also sends out no go buttons on Tuesday for anyone that has sent in a picture for passing their checkride. She sends those out and then our books as well. We stopped shipping books during the majority of the, you know what I'm talking about, stupid pandemic. But now she's coming on Tuesday. We've started shipping books again, so you can get those@helopterground.com People have been asking, where do I get the books? They're on the homepage@helopterground.com along with private commercial, CFI and all the other memberships. There's a place there where we ship you the books for just seven bucks. Shipping and handling. Looks like a good question from John Hey, Kenny and Brian. John here. Is this flight review package. Flight review package. Better or. I'm thinking both won't hurt. I've already made my decision about getting the private pilot package. Well, you want to do the private pilot first? I wouldn't do both. I mean I'm a businessman and you could buy both, but I wouldn't do that right now because if you're working on the private pilot rating, you need everything that's there. Everything that's there. Because a flight review is a lot different than getting your license. So the private pilot is what you need. If you are not yet a rated pilot, the flight review Rusty pilot course really isn't going to do. It's not that it won't do you any good, but it's not what you need because when you go to take that private pilot test, anything that you've learned going up through private pilot is fair game by that examiner to ask. And you have to be able to plot cross country. And there are so many things that he can ask you about that you are required to know. Once you're a rated pilot and you're going back 24 months later to get your flight review or you haven't flown in a while, you're. You're a private owner and you're up to speed, but you just feel like your knowledge is lacking. You can crack a book, any book you want. But we know in this day and age people want to be hand fed. That's just the world we live in. I do too. I don't want to read anything. I want to buy an online course. When I want to learn something, I go find somebody's online course where I can watch it with audio and video cues and listen and then whatever they're teaching me, I can actually go do and demonstrate. I don't want to read, you know, and that's horrible. I know people don't want to read in this day and age. That's just the way it is. Awesome. Oh, John is actually ready to pilot. Okay. All right, well, you guys got a conversation going there. So that is the deal. I'm going to wrap it up. If you haven't subscribed to our channel yet, if you just happened on this video, make sure you subscribe and click the bell so you'll be notified of our daily videos. Leave your comments down below. That link is right below this video. For the new course. I'm gonna go end the live session, see if anybody's bought and see who the first person is on the no go. The no go button is for weather decisions. One more thing. Brian's got some more new videos. For those of you that don't realize it yet, we have new weather videos inside the private pilot course. And there are more coming. He's putting together even more. We're basically giving a facelift to the whole entire weather section. So if you're a member or a new member for the private pilot, go check out the weather. Had a guy there, they said, hey, where do I find the weather? And I said, well, as I stated in the video, it's the beginning of the weather section. So go to the weather section in private pilot. And the brand new videos are all right there. 1, 2, 3, 4. They go right down the list. You can't miss them. Awesome. Hey, give us a thumbs up. Subscribe. You guys are awesome. That's right. We are awesome. Hell, yeah. All right, I'm gonna add this. Dude, get out of here. So y' all have a good night. Subscribe to the channel, click the bell. So be notified of our daily video, and we'll see you all in the next.
