A short YouTube demo by Kenny Keller (owner of 4 Wing Helicopters) presenting a new Practical Test Standards (PTS)–based helicopter checkride training within Helicopter Online Ground School. The presenter demos the mini‑iPad UI, explains that chapters (e.g., Preflight Preparation) are broken into many bite-sized videos (the Preflight Preparation section alone has 22 subsections), each typically 3–10 minutes (some up to ~20 minutes), and notes that MP3 audio downloads and multi-device support (iPad, smartphone, laptop, desktop) are provided. The program mixes PTS checklist coverage with instructor commentary and real-world tips to help pilots prepare for the oral and flying portions of a checkride.
Do you need help preparing for a helicopter checkride? Are you overwhelmed by all the information there is to know between the flying portion and the oral portion? Well, I'm going to show you something that I've got to help you out with that. I'm Kenny Keller, the owner of 4 Wing Helicopters and creator of Helicopter Online Ground school. In our new training with the pts, I'm going to show you on a mini iPad how cool this thing works.
The newest addition, the practical test standards to all the other training that we already have inside Online ground school specific aircraft stuff. The newest is the practical test section. So what's cool about this is we go right down the list. Pre flight preparation, pre flight procedures, airport and heliport operations, all of the chapters from the pts. And as I build these videos, I'm putting in my own personal experiences of things I've seen over many years and helping many guys get through checkrides. So the best way to use it is just start at the beginning. Pre flight preparation. Click on it. Like in this section alone, we already have 22 different sections. We keep them all about between three minutes to about 10 minutes, some as.
Long as maybe 20.
But we're making the training short so you can sit down, get a chunk at a time. We learn through repetition. We know it's hard to sit for hours at a time watching training and you can work through it step by step. So with each section we go through, cover the things that you're going to need to know, what to expect during the checkride, and we work right down the list and the next thing I love is right over here. You can just keep going down step by step. Everything's listed on the left hand side. We put in the specific things that you're going to have to know step by step and you just work down through the list. I put my heart and soul in this project and feel like this is one of the best ways there is anywhere for anybody to prepare for a checkride. We also have MP3 files for each section, which I think is really cool too. You can download that to your phone, your tablet, listen while you're working out, mowing the yard, whatever the case may be.
So whether you're using a tablet or an iPad, I get these questions all the time. Will it work with my iPad? Yes. My smartphone? Yes. My laptop? Yes. My desktop? Yes. Works pretty awesome on all devices.
