So making use of a quick trip over to the boat dock, time to take the pontoon out for the winter. That's because we got to get busy with helicopter all in ground school and all the new people coming in. I want to tell a quick story about. In the beginning, I was terrified of the helicopter. You know, I got interested in them at a young age, but didn't start flying until I was actually 32 years old. And in the beginning, I was terrified of the machine, I was terrified of the helicopter. I was intrigued, I liked it. But I was also, in the beginning, not knowing enough about it. I was intimidated. I was very intimidated. When I would be driving to lessons, I would have to really think about it and I'd have to really build my encouragement up. And I want to go back to the struggles in the beginning. My first instructor yelled at me the first two trips out and the guy was a real jerk and he treated me bad in the first 10 minutes. My first time in a helicopter, I'm taking a lesson and this guy's yelling at me. That wasn't quite right. We know now as instructors, we're taught you make the first trip out really enjoyable for someone, fly around, around, have some fun. This guy completely ruined it for me. So after the first two lessons where I was just terrified, I take a year off and then I was disgusted, I didn't try harder and I went back to the same flight school. Luckily, that guy was gone. There was a new young instructor there, and he was from the UK and he was a super nice guy. And he goes, hey, that guy you flew with before, he was a jerk. And I'm saying, I'm glad you said that because I didn't want to say it. So anyway, he goes, let's go out today, start from scratch, brand new experience. Thank God that he did, because now 20 years later, I'm still flying. I do it full time for a living and I love it. I love being a helicopter pilot. And that was the beginning of the struggles. You know, it was a struggle right from the beginning. Then it's a struggle to find the money. And then it was a struggle when I failed my first private check, private pilot checkride. But the point is I stayed after it and I got it and I continued on then commercial instruments, cfi, and now I do it professionally. So the point is, there's always struggles along the way.
