Are you struggling with all the information there is to know to become a helicopter pilot? Welcome to Helicopter Online Ground school.
Welcome to podcast 11. The Robinson R44 emergency section is live in our online ground school. The emergency section is section three in the Pilot's operating Handbook. How familiar are you with your helicopter emergency procedures? I remember in my first private pilot checkride, well, the one that I failed. When he finally stopped the test, he said, when I ask you these questions, you need to know, boom, boom, boom. And I need quick, concise answers. I was struggling, and the guy was very fair, and he gave me a chance to go out and calm down, and we talked a little bit, went back in and tried it again, and I was just struggling with the nervousness of the checkride. I did know the material, but I didn't know it well enough, and it was easy for me to get confused, and I just really struggled. So that is why I guess I'm doing what I'm doing today. I really believe that filling that first checkride was the best thing that ever happened to me. I took it really hard, went home for six months. It took me a while to get back to it. That's why I went out and got the notebook and organized all my notes together and came up with a study plan. And I just hit it and I hit it hard, and I studied this stuff to the point that there was no way, no way that I was going to forget it. I. I know that I'm benefiting some others at this point. I have about 80 customers around the world, and although our training isn't for absolutely everybody, a lot of them really like it. Some people absolutely love it. Then when I went back and took the checkride, I went back and did it with the FAA designated examiner. First time was with the faa, second time was the designated examiner, and I pretty much rock and rolled it. And before we were done, I think even he stopped and said, wow, you failed the first time? And I said, yeah. And he said, what happened? I'm like, I did not know my stuff then like I do now. And he said, well, that's very apparent. And examiners, we're a small world. And we talk. And he said, I'll make sure that that examiner that you took that checkride with knows how well you did when you came back and how well prepared you were. So the emergency section is about 20 minutes long. And I just go right through the book. I have audio and visual training. I try to give you the procedures to help you with memorization, but I also try to input things that I can think of that maybe will help you with these different emergencies. Which brings me to helicopterground.com right now we have the R44 emergency procedure section live for anybody to go in and view. And I'm only doing that for a short time. I will make a short tidbit so if anybody wants to take a look at it, they can see it. But remember, we have a 24 hour test drive. If you want to come back and check out the online ground school at any time, you can go in for 24 hours, look at all the training, see what it's all about and decide if it's right for you. Like I said earlier, it's not necessarily right for everybody, but what product or what business is. I'm trying to put out something that's cool and helps people and providing a service that I think has been needed all along. And because the helicopter is such a small niche, I think that's probably the reason why nobody's really went after it like I have. If you want to check it out, stop by helicopterground.com and as always, leave us some feedback. Wherever you're viewing this presentation, whether it's audio or you're watching the podcast video, give us some feedback. Getting people to comment is very hard to do and usually it just takes one person to comment and then other people will jump in and get the conversation going. As always, thanks for stopping by and we'll see you tomorrow.
