A helicopter training video by Kenny Keller demonstrating hover-taxi technique and a simulated engine-failure at low hover. The instructor emphasizes staying parallel to the direction of movement, keeping skids aligned to avoid rolling if the engine quits, and coaches a student preparing for a checkride through a counted simulated engine failure and recovery.
Okay, now let's hover taxi down that crack. Stay in as parallel as you can. Slow, smooth speed of a brisk walk, taking your time.
Okay, so we are doing a hover taxi, getting ready to do a engine failure. Welcome back, nine two. We got more audio and video for you with some of the helicopter maneuvers. You'll probably notice the video or the. I'm sorry, the audio is already better in this one. From 91 to 9 2, bear with me. Trial and error method. The more we do, the better it gets, and that's going to continue to get better. So I'm going to do some maneuvers for you. This is a hover taxi, and I wanted to throw in here that this is why we're always preaching that we want you to stay parallel with the line in the direction of which you're moving. Meaning if you're going from point A to point B and you want to cheat the nose over because it's windy, well, then that's not the best course of action because if the engine quits, your skids aren't straight. You catch one of the skids and you roll the helicopter over. So we're always harping to stay low, slow and parallel. And you're just always being ready for that engine to quit. So this is a student that's getting ready for a checkride. So we're going out to do some maneuvers. So I thought I'll talk you through some of these. The audio is better, so I got some. Some of the auto. I'm going to let play and I'm going to jump in from time to time and add some pointers here and there, and we'll see how it goes.
And then just for fun, for your practice, I'm going to come on with you. And we're just going to do an engine failure here at a nice slow hover. So I'm coming on with you. We're going to do it together. I'm going to count it off. 1, 2, 3. And our throttle operate. You got to go right pedal collective down. Okay? All right, pick us back up when you're ready.
