Pro Member Commercial Checkride Next Week With The FAC

Kenny Keller walks through final prep for a pro-member's commercial checkride next week: daily Zoom reviews over ten days, an Excel checklist of requirements, and a three-hour in-person session before the examiner signs off. The Hogs hangar runs a dedicated scheduling model with one student, one instructor, and one aircraft, plus an expanded video plan to turn training into grouped modules.

Arranging at the Hogs hangar. We got commercial checkride next week, final approach course with one of our professional pilot members. And this gentleman's been with us for a while. He's a pro member, did his private last year getting ready to his commercial. And he's been messing around in Florida and just had trouble, you know, got along great with his instructor and has flown some great places. Just can't put the aircraft and the examiner everything all together. So we got all set up for him here. We moved the Hogs wall down here at the end so you can see a bunch 200 and I guess about 90 now. People on the Hogs wall of fame that have passed checkrides. So what's cool this time around? I've been working with this member over zooms the last week and a half. Every day we've done like an hour zooms. So we're covering all the ground stuff that we can possibly cover. His requirements are all done. He put them in an Excel sheet. We're going to check them one more time. But every day I've just been going through and hitting everything from my notebook that I can find trying to stump him. So he's coming up be here the beginning of the week. So we thought, you know what, we're going to make this fun. So we arranged. We've got a little area over here. I'm bringing in a coffee table from home that my daughter doesn't want downstairs anymore. And we're going to set up cameras and I've got a film crew, got the Hogs film crew in action now. We'll have three people here next week. So we'll have the applicant over there have books and everything laid out here on the table. So be capturing him from that direction. We'll have another camera over here to catch me asking him questions and us looking over the log books and looking over all the stuff. And then another view from over here with another camera plus the handhelds that they'll be walking around with as well. So it's going to be exciting. We're going to do three hours of prep so I can give him the sign off and send him to my examiner I've been using for 21 years. So I'm excited too just to share this because this is kind of the flight training I've kind of always wanted, right. This is class G airport. So when we go fly, all we got to do is open the door out or door up, push it on the ramp, either get fuel or not. Boom. We're right in the pattern, we don't have to go to another airport, we don't have to deal with a tower. We got a Delta and a Charlie nearby if we want to go to tower to work but not required. Over here we got everything set. Little roll around cabinet. So we've got our oil, paper towels, our time sheet, flashlight, log books tucked away nice and neat in there. And workbench area over there. We just got all cleaned up and we're trying to do progressive maintenance, have a mechanic coming at least once a week even if there's nothing wrong, just to kind of keep ahead of the game. So final approach course for 2023. We got Maze booked and there's another gentleman coming from the same area. Actually flown the same flight school coming in June and then we have our pro member coming in August. So now we got July left and yeah, don't know how many more we can squeeze in. So if you have a question, you want to come up here and help, just finish up a rating. All three of these guys that are coming now that are on the schedule, none of them really have a bad thing to say about their flight school or their instructors other than they're short instructors, they're short aircraft. Trouble getting on the schedule, trouble lining up an examiner. It's the same thing that we hear over and over again. So luckily we're doing things different here. We're not sharing a schedule with Billy Bob and Mary. We put you on for a specific date and time when you come. It's your aircraft, I fly with you and we just hit it every day. Finish it up, go take a check ride and you can go home. You're not sharing the schedule, which is a beautiful thing. So if you're interested in getting one of them slots, you can text or call 574-453-7669. And we've been out shooting some shooting new maneuvers for hogs using a stabilizer and somebody driving the cart and just going to revamp every single flight. Video inside. HOGS is going to be replaced here in the very near future. So got a young editor, young guy off college for the summer, likes to edit. So we're going to hit it hard. We've been filming a bunch of stuff already and we're going to release them in sections instead of piecemealing it and then upload one video, then upload another video. We're going to like get all the Private Pilot done, boom, upload them all at once and go, hey, Private Pilot members, go check it out. Because the whole all the basic maneuvers for Private Pilot are fresh and new, and we're doing multiple cameras just by, you know, over the years, we've upped our game. So we're running camera here, camera here. We're taking somebody with us to film so we can get the collective. We've got a nose mount, camera under there, strut camera over here, and more. So the stuff we've been producing is the best we've ever done, and we're, of course, happy and thrilled with that. So lots and lots of cool changes at Hogs. You want to fly the R44? It's ready to go. And we'll put a link down below for helicopterground.com all of our courses are still there. Private commercial instrument cfi. Put a link down below to go direct to the website. And you can always reach out to Heather at 574-767-1797. Peace out.
