A short instructional video by Kenny Keller recorded at the ocean that explains the difference between sea breeze and land breeze using a simple memory aid. During the day, the land heats faster than the water so warm air over land rises and cooler air moves in from the sea (sea breeze). At night the land cools faster so the relatively warmer air over the water rises and air moves from land toward the sea (land breeze).

Sea breeze. The boys had trouble with sea breeze and land Breeze. So I came down here to the ocean to shoot this and try to come up with some kind of a memory aid. What you think about is during the day, the sun is up, heats up the land, that warm air rises, moves out to sea, and the air recirculates back in, back inland. That is your sea breeze. Then you have your land breeze, which occurs at night. The sun's went down. So as the sun goes down, the ground is going to start to cool. The air over the water is going to end up warmer than the air over the land, or the water is going to be warmer than the land. So the warm air over the water is going to rise, recirculate back over the land. The air is then going to move back out to the ocean, and that's where you get your land breeze. So think about that. Daytime, the ground heating, they're moving up, out over the water and back in. And then at night, when the land cools over, the water is warmer. So then that air rises, moves in over the land, comes down, or circulates back out to the water. And that's your land breeze. So there you go, Sea breeze and land members.
