Short excerpt from a Kenny Keller YouTube video (dated July 31, 2025) discussing hover taxi technique. Speakers emphasize that hover taxiing should be very slow—comparable to the speed of a brisk walk—and warn that many pilots taxi too fast (effectively ‘running’ or exceeding intended thresholds).
Come forward just a hair. Right here. Nice takeoff. Or see where our manifold pressure is. A nice brisk walk. We talked about that, too. Where everybody talks about being doing a brisk walk and it's already past ETL and it's more like a run.
Oh, yeah. Have to be able to come here and they'll tell you. How do we do an air taxi? Oh, it should be the speed of a brisk walk. And they're going like 15 knots across the ground. And you're like, well, you just told me it's speed of brisk walk. Why are you going 15 knots? Slow it down. Slow it down. See it all the time. All the time. People way too fast in a hover taxi.
