Summary of New Book How To Build Your Online Business

Kenny Keller summarizes his book and membership site "How To Build Your Online Business," describing his transition from police officer and EMS helicopter pilot to an online entrepreneur. He emphasizes the value of digital products (books, videos) as ongoing income streams, the importance of member feedback, gradual hiring as revenue allows, and practical examples (startup costs, recurring expenses). He also names team members (Steve and Gary) who help run his sites and gives contact info for readers.

All right, so this is the summary of the book how to build you'd online business. And it's also going to be the summary in our membership site how to build your online business. We'll transcribe this and make this part of the book and we're also going to use this video and put it in the membership site. Thought it'd be kind of fitting to go out and do a little helicopter flight on a beautiful day. Beautiful sunny day, big puffy clouds in the sky. I still love to fly, and that's the beauty of my online membership site, my online business, my books. I still get to fly and do what I want to do. But I don't have a helicopter that cost me two thousand dollars a month in a helicopter payment, eighteen hundred dollars a month in insurance payment, ten thousand dollars a year in a annual inspection every year. And then any little breakdown, you know, alternator goes bad. Oh, that's 2,500. You know, for your car it's 100 bucks or 200 bucks for a helicopter that's an alternator, just like what's on your car. But now that's going to be like 2,500. So anyway, this is the summary I've shown you through the book and in the online course. What I've done, what I'm doing now. We're going to continue to keep adding content to both the book, the paperback that will be coming out, and the online membership site. That's how we built the first membership site, Helicopter in Lane ground school. For five years, I've encouraged my members. Tell me what you like, tell me what you don't like, tell me what you want to see. And I have to say, in five years, people have been awesome. Very rarely have I ever had anybody be snotty or be rude. People in general are pretty darn good. People want to see you do well. They want a product that they can believe in and be happy with. And we've done that with helicopter and land ground school. And we're going to do it again with build you'd online business. Member feedback is key. So I want to push that for any of you that are working on books or online membership sites or whatever the case is, feedback. Encourage feedback from your members, your customers, respond to them. I try to respond to people absolutely, as fast as I can. Sometimes it's easier than others. I now have Steve in the office helping me with production and build your own line business and been helping me inventory all of helicopter ground school. We have Gary Cleveland starting in just A couple weeks. He's retiring from the police department after 24 years. Gary's gonna fly for me or helicopter land ground school. And Gary's gonna help me with helicopter only ground school where he'll be handling customers, taking care of people, kind of telling me what videos he needs for ground school. Steve is gonna be running build you'd online business, responding to customers. And those two both will be helping me make both of my sites better and continue on with our online endeavors. I absolutely love online training. I love training in general. I started out as a police officer many years ago. They sent me to a firearms instructor school. So I became a certified flight instructor for the police department. I enjoyed doing that. I became the trainer for the new police officers being hired. I never went officially to an FTO school at FTO field training officer. I wanted to, but so my entire career has been in emergency services and training. So natural progression into becoming a certified flight instructor and then now online training with helicopter training, online business training, membership sites, publishing books, you know, it all relates. I love what I do. I love going to work every day. I'm glad that I don't have anybody watching over me. You know, being a helicopter pilot was a good living. Being a full time police officer was a good living. But in those two jobs, who's watching over you, you know, and the police officer, you have a town board and a chief and the members of the community who all say, well, I'm paying your paycheck, you know, you're working for me, blah, blah, blah. Then in the helicopter industry, you know, I worked as an EMS pilot for five years. It was a great job. We had good maintenance, we, you know, decent pay. It was low for the experience we needed and what we went through, but still it was low pay. But I enjoyed being a helicopter pilot, being an EMS helicopter pilot, but the oversight was crazy. Being watched over by hospital personnel, people that aren't pilots, you know, questioning you and your job and how you do and why you do what you do. I didn't do well in that environment the five years I did it. Because I'm outspoken. I like to do things right. I did things the way I was trained by the company, but the company's headquarters in Texas and I'm flying in Indiana, the company's not there helping you out. When you're there with the customer or the vendor and they're, you know, constantly looking over your shoulder. So I'm so thrilled that after all these years that I am an entrepreneur, an online entrepreneur. I work when I want, I work hard and I've worked hard for five years. But at the five year point, I can say it's finally getting a little bit easier. I don't have to work as many hours now. I can afford to have help in the beginning. That's hard to do in the beginning. I say start yourself, do as much as you can on your own. And as you can afford to start hiring out small jobs, do that as your business continues to grow. Later on, when it's time to add employees, then do it then. I could have used employees two years, three years ago, four years ago. But I had a lot of debt to repay and I had to be careful. I didn't want to overdo it and go back to being so broke like I was five years ago. It really sucks to be in your late 40s and living at your sister's house, driving your sister's car, bumming money for gasoline to get to the airport so you can go make videos. That wasn't easy, but I kept at it. I've always just done what I wanted to do. I've been myself and I just stayed after it. So you can do it. I'll say again, it is not a quick get. It's not a get rich scheme. Still takes hard work, still takes effort. But I'll tell you what, if you have a dream, you're tired of working for the man, you want to do your own thing. There's nothing cooler than a digital product. You know, the book sells. Let's talk about that just for a second. My first book, I probably had about $2,500 in everything. That includes paying some people to help me, running some ads, buying proof copies, which sounds like a lot of money. I've made that $2,500 back, and I made that back a long time ago. So now whatever trickles in each month, the end of the month is my money to keep. And people are coming into the ground school business because of that book. Same thing will happen with the online business. People get your book to find out who you are, get to know you, get to like you, get to trust you, and then bring them into your business. So books are to be used as a lead magnet to get people interested in your business. They will make you a little bit of money. And now at the end of the month, Amazon puts money in my account. I don't do anything with the book. They do the sales, they do the returns, they take care of it all. And think about a digital product like this in videos. Videos you make and create. They're online 24 hours a day, seven days a week. People are still looking at your training, buying your training, consuming your training. When you're sleeping, when you're eating, when you're out to dinner. It's a beautiful thing. Selling a digital product online is the coolest thing on the planet. So whether you're a member of the online ground school, you're a member of the new online business, you're a friend follower. You have one of our books. I'd love to hear from you. We like connecting with everybody, hearing their thoughts. You can always contact me at kennyelicopter ground. That is my best email. That's the best way to get a hold of me. So thank you very much everyone. Have a good day and we'll see you in the next booker video. During hovering flight also called tail rotor drift, it's one of the three T's that everybody screws up.
