The Little Cyclic Move That’ll Clean Up Your Pick Ups & Set Downs

A helicopter pilot explains how a small forward cyclic movement during takeoff and landing improves control and precision. The technique cleans up sloppy pickups and setdowns by keeping the aircraft stable during these critical phases of flight.
All right, I'm using a good two step process right now to lift the helicopter up. We want to give you a simple little tip. When you go to come up off the ground, it might help you to use just a tiny bit of forward movement when you come up. So let's. We're getting a light on the skids. We're getting ready to come up. I'm adjust the pedals. Step number one, get a light. Number two, I'm going to pull it up and when I do, I'm going to go just a little bit of forward movement. Just a little bit. It just seems to help make you come up a little smoother and just makes it a little bit easier. And then do the same thing on your set down. So as I come down, I'm pushing a little bit forward, a little bit forward, a little bit forward. Keep moving it forward, a little bit forward and then down to the ground. There's our air cushion. And go all the way down to the ground. When people try to go straight up and down, it's just harder to do. There's nothing wrong with straight up and down, but if you're struggling, whether you're brand new or maybe you're just a little bit rusty, use a little bit of forward movement on your pickups and a little bit of forward movement on your set downs and you'll be. You might be surprised at how much that will help clean things up for you. AskCogs.com Askogs.com you want some more free tips? AskCogs.com six or 15 years of my content. Six million words.
