🤦🏼♀️ Korean guy pickup lines 🥺

Kristin Fagerback breaks down pickup lines and tactics Korean men use on foreigners, from asking about Line instead of KakaoTalk to the "do you live alone" question to invitations to motels. She flags these as red flags and cringey moves that signal someone's either fake or looking for something quick.

안녕하세요. Another video of walking with Kristin in the rain. Today we're just gonna talk about— this came up in a Kakao group text I'm in. It was talking about like pickup lines that Korean guys do, and I guess like a lot of foreigners like Maybe not a lot. Foreigners may fall for it in the beginning. Like, the foreigners go out to the bars and then they meet some Korean oppa kind of thing. Excuse the cringiness. Anywhoos, and then like, then they start coming out all these lines. Or you meet, or you start talking to some Korean person on Tinder. Not saying, not saying all people are like this, but I'm going out to those few Korean people who use these lines, and maybe there's a few foreigners out there that use it too, and it's just cringy. Um, feel free to comment if you feel differently, just saying my opinions here. Anyways, okay, first off, in this group chat, people commented on the line people like a Korean person might use. Instead of giving you their Kakao, they ask you if you have Line. Oh, Line. Line is soya. Kakao, obsoya. Okay, let me say one thing. There are— I don't think there can be many Koreans out there that cannot use Kakao. I mean, they're messaging their mom, they're messaging their dad, they're messaging everybody on Kakao. So if they tell you they don't got Kakao and to contact you online, the Tinder guy says Line, then he's either fake account, he's got a girlfriend and she checks through his Kakao and he's trying to hide something, or something else sketchy going on. So I personally wouldn't waste my time if some dude is like, I'm not going to add you on Kakao, it's like only Line. If you comment if you've gotten any like better excuses than those few that I named for why someone won't want to give you their Kakao other than they just like— or the other, like, other excuses for why someone's telling you Line instead of Kakao. That I mean, because like there could be many reasons someone doesn't want to give their Kakao. Um, anyways, okay, the other thing, okay, this happens I think a lot on Tinder. Like, y'all maybe get something different, but there's— or you meet some Korean person out at a bar and then you start texting with them or texting from Tinder and then they're like, "Oh, so do you live alone?" And that is actually one of the most annoying pet peeves I have because what people in this group chat, Kakao group chat, complaining about like, okay, if some Korean person asks you, "Do you live alone?" It's automatically asking if they could come over and, you know, What kind of thing? And pretty much every Korean person asks me if I live alone. I'm probably gonna start stop texting you ever again, probably, because honestly I just feel disrespected because I know what you're thinking and like that's just cheap, bro. Just cheap. So if I give one piece of advice, stop asking if foreigners live alone because that's very annoying stuff, and I could say curse words, but I'm not. Okay, then there's like the whole like 라면 mogoll thing that I don't like. People haven't asked me that that much, but it could be like— it could be Koreans use that with other Koreans more. I don't know. What's the other one? Oh, I can't remember off the top of my head. Okay, if you can remember any like kind of like cringeworthy pickup lines Korean people are using, let me know. But definitely "line" and "do you live alone" are big ones. Oh, oh, then they ask like— oh, another one's like, maybe they ask like, "Oh yeah, have you ever had a Korean boyfriend?" Oh my gosh, I'm gonna tell you the truth. Like, if you ask me that question I'mma tell you. Like, I don't know, I got no shame. And then maybe they ask like, oh, oh yeah, I mean, this even— I'll have to post a video of this happening. They ask like, oh, do you like Koreans or something like that? And it's like, people are people. Like, I like people, and we live in the 21st century. Like, we're 20 years old, and so like, disregarding of race So yeah, and then, but then they sometimes get like also surprised, you know, right? It's like, "The foreigner, like you could like a Korean person?" Well, like I could like another person. So that's just like my opinion, even though I'm usually just like a lone person, like almost always, like past over a year, maybe 2 years, I don't know. So maybe 2 years I've been alone. Wow. Single for life here. Anyways, let's see. Oh, like another— oh yeah, so another thing people mentioned in this group chat is like when a Korean person invites like— I don't know if Korean people do this with other Korean people, but people complain that it's like Korean person asks for the foreigner, it's like, "Oh, let's go rest at a motel." It's like, can you be honest? Because that is just— that's, uh, no one's asked me that exactly. Like, it could be I like don't go out in like Hongdae and like party with like those kind of people as much anymore to like hear stuff like that. Um, I guess I'll go this way anyways. Um, but like this was mentioned in the group chat and it's like And then what's another one? Uh, sorry if this video sucks, but it's— oh, like what's happened at some clubs, it's like some dude will like, you know, I'm just chilling, have a good time, I like to dance, dance side and stuff. And then the dude is like— this happens actually frequently if you're in a Gangnam club, for instance. And the dude— oh, okay, the dude— if this doesn't happen as much as in Hongdae, it's like the dude will say like, okay, he'll like maybe show you his key, like, oh, I have a Porsche, something like that. And they invited you to their— like, maybe you and your girlfriend went to their table because like they invited you to like have a drink together in the club. And so like you agree to that. But then he shows you his keys, they're like, oh, I have these keys. Or maybe even shows them before you even agree to go to the table. And then they say like some like stupid excuse, um, like, oh, I guess I already made it here. Like, it's like, oh, I need to like get a charger from my car, or I want to— do you want to just like go for a quick ride around? In my car. And these people, like, I mean, this happens at all times tonight, like, and they're not like ridiculously drunk, like, you know. Oh, they aren't, but because they drove to the club, so they, um, they're like in a group of guys. And anyways, there's like someone who's responsible. So anyways, so then he's like, okay, let's go get the charger or whatever. But then, like, of course they're just using that as a freaking excuse. And it's like, dude, I know what you're doing. Do not lie to me. You do not want to get a charger. You just want to be alone with some chick. That's really annoying. And then, like, these are not classy at all. Like, I feel like in the West people would at least say like, hey, you want to like stand outside and talk some more, you know? But like here they're like, no, let's go get my charger from the car. Like, do you have a life? Okay, anyways, bye from day one. Very annoying. Anyways, and then, or like if you want to drive around and just to tell you, if like they ever start driving the car, like just if you don't want to be put in that situation, don't be put in that situation. Then so Gangnam Yeah, Gangnam club is a little different than Hongdae. Hongdae. Oh my gosh. Okay, this is like for like day one people coming to Korea and they're going to Hongdae. The Hongdae club. Hopefully you can hear me okay. Okay. I haven't made this mistake and
