55 days in San Francisco (DAY 3)

In this Day 3 vlog, the creator documents a typical San Francisco day: meeting two foreign entrepreneurs about his Jellybean startup, discussing the complexities of his OPT visa and the three possible paths to stay in the U.S. (secure a job, raise $500 k, or return to Malaysia). He also shares grocery shopping experiences in Safeway and Japantown, noting the high prices compared to his hometown in Michigan, and visits a Daiso store. The vlog ends with a preview of Day 4, where he will demo the Jellybean prototype (currently in alpha) and provide a link for viewers to try it.

So it's 11:30 now on day 3, and I'm going to the Creamery to meet up with an entrepreneur to talk about jelly bean. And yeah, today, today's not too bad. I just feel a little bit tired, but you know, got to hustle. I'll see you guys tonight, and I'll update on more stuff tonight on day 3. Well, today is nothing much but just catching up on emails and filling in my Y Combinator application and just editing it. So I'm grocery shopping now at Safeway, and damn, stuff here is so expensive. So we have kale here and it's $1.99 organic. I think it's $1.99, which is super expensive. The whole line is all organic stuff, and a couple of apples here. And a couple of stuff. Strawberries, which is $5.99 for orange. So I'm at Japantown right now, and so happy because we get to have Asian food, which I really, really need. I can't do burgers anymore. I need some ramen. I need ramen. Well, I'm gonna sign off now because I'm waiting for a friend. So yeah, just show you around real quick. I have no idea what this is, but looks cool. That's Daiso. You obviously get Daiso in Japantown, right? So yeah, it's really nice here. In Japantown, everything is all Asian and nice. Um, yeah, lights. So I met this, um, really cool people on Lyft and say hi. Hi. Hey, she wants to see this. Yeah, there you go. It's cute, it's cute. Can I try? Of course. It's so cute. Today is the end of day 3, and there are some updates that I'd like to share today. And it is, I met two entrepreneurs, founders, and both of them are foreign founders. So I met a Japanese founder today, and he is actually having problem with his visa. But since he's, he's a computer science major, so he's able to extend his, his visa and stuff like that. But in my case, I am doing OPT, which is Optical Practical Training, which you're only able to be in the United States for— to work in the United States for 1 year, but you have 90 days to find a job. So my— I have technically 3 options if I want to stay in the US and work on Jellybean. One is I get a job in this 55 days and work on Jellybean on the side. Two, if I'm able to raise $500,000 $500,000 USD, half a million USD from investors here. 3, I just come back to Malaysia and try to sort things out and see how things goes. That, uh, that is technically 3 of my options, but honestly right now, like, the best option that I can still do is just try to find a job, try to go get into a company just to help, just to extend my stay here for another year and see how it goes. But yeah, I'm in a really huge dilemma now. But that's what most people has been telling me, just get a job, because unless you're American, it's— you're, you are in a really tough position. But That's what most, um, founders— that's what most foreign founders do. Like, it's either you start a company back in your home country. Let's just say if, um, I eventually built a company in Malaysia and I can actually bring that company over back here to San Francisco under a T1 visa. A T1 or L1 visa to actually sponsor myself a visa to start a company here. So it's pretty— yeah, it's a lot of immigration mumbo-jumbo stuff, but it's, um, it's pretty a more informative kind of day. It's a lot of information to dig in, but yeah, it's, um, overall today is It's not bad, it's not bad. I did some grocery shopping which I showed you guys, and grocery shopping here is so expensive, like super expensive. Um, like I came from like Michigan, Midland, Michigan, and grocery shopping there is so cheap. Here it's super expensive, like, like seriously, it's super, super expensive. So What I'm gonna cover tomorrow, day 4, is I'm actually gonna vlog on my MacBook and I'm gonna show you what Jelly Bean is all about. The prototype is actually in alpha stage, so technically you guys can use it already. I'll actually put the link below, but just try it out. It's super simple to use it, and I'll see you guys tomorrow.
