What is up, Real Estate Business Builders? This is Lars Hedenborg, founder of Real Estate B School. And on today's episode we're going to go through a concept that I call the Annual Plan Organizer. Actually just did a live training in our free Facebook group, Real Estate Business Builders. You can find it on Facebook, so get in there. The only reason I mention it is I gave away the worksheets to this training, which are a critical piece if you want to sort of really do the work on this one. And this is, you know, I didn't really plan it this way, but this is almost a part three in the series. So if you've been tracking on the podcast, you can have this sort of grand three year vision, which is something we covered on the last episode. So you can break it down and put words on paper about what you want your year to look like and then break it down into crushing your quarters and winning your weeks and dominating your day. But at the end of it, there are a lot of things to fit into your waking hours and there's so many distractions, there's so many ways to get off track. The big promise and what I'm mostly focused on everything I do, whether you're in our world as a paid coach coaching Klein, or if you're consuming this podcast or if you're on our in our free Facebook group or on our YouTube channel, it all revolves around helping you have something to show for your effort in real estate. So, you know, net worth isn't everything, but you have to make sure you're tracking your net worth. It's one of the foundational tools that we have every member of real estate B school go through is. Is tracking your net worth so you ultimately, you can increase it. Again, not the only measure of success, but a really important one. And we want you to be able to run a sustainable real estate business which systematically increases your net worth, but also allows for more time off, more time away from the grind of real estate, so that you can have this impact and put first things first in your life. So the guiding question, and this is a question, you know, that I ask myself often. You know, it's. It's do like, you know, Lars, do you have a plan in place to achieve meaningful goals in the areas of life that matter? And that's really something I want you to contemplate. You know, if you've been enjoying these episodes on planning and vision, you know, then you're sort of in alignment with this, at least tackling this question and facing the truth about where you are with respect to this, this question of planning and goals. And do you have a plan in place? Right. Some of you, though, are a little triggered by it because maybe you're not where you want to be financially or you haven't been a planner, quote, unquote, in the past. But the reason why this matters especially, and I think this is true probably of any business owner, but it seems like it is really prevalent in our industry. We have a tendency to get distracted. And I think that's just true of, like, the entrepreneurial personality type is that we are easily distractible in real estate. I call it Chasing Squirrels. I forget the name of the movie. Golly. There's a movie where the character in the movie sees a squirrel and they're like, squirrel, squirrel. They're constantly distracted and they forget what they're doing or what they're talking about. For us in real estate, it's anything that gets you off track. And we want you to be in a position, especially entering a new year or really anytime you listen to this, if you don't have a plan, you're certainly distracted. But if you're living into that constant. If you're living in that constant reaction, you're sort of feeling out of control on a regular basis, and it's not a good feeling. And you can fall into just hoping that things are going to go well. And while hope on the one hand is good, being hopeful, being sort of hooked up on Hopium, it's not A sustainable strategy. And it's, it kind of like, you know, you hope it goes well, but it could go either way. And it's like almost like the flip of a coin. Like, how is next year going to be if I don't have a plan? You know, it's not going to go well. We want to ultimately put you in the driver's seat so that there's this clear path to making the kind of money that you make and taking the time off that you want to take off and experiencing a level of stress that is completely manageable so that you could crush it next year. And the question I have for you as you contemplate whenever you're listening to this, you know, looking for the next 12 months, why do you want to crush it in the coming 12 months? It's kind of my question. I just want you to think about that for a second. For me, back in the early days, it was to provide a life for my family that they never thought was possible. Now looking back, that wasn't the real, you know, I love business. I love it when it's good, when it's bad, when it's ugly. I love all of it. A lot of it was to satisfy these sort of unnatural, you know, the unnatural drive I had for growth. But I was able to provide a life for my family that they didn't see coming, that they didn't think was possible. And so in terms of getting there, getting to this place where we have tactical pieces of our plan, like we know the things that are going to make, make us money. We know the things that are going to the rhythms in our business, the things that we need to focus on that are going to allow for a more sustainable existence. There are just a handful of things I want to go through and then I want to prompt you and this is really, I'm going to push you to go into the Facebook group because you need these worksheets and I want you to do this exercise and you know, sit down and actually do it. But I'll walk you through some of the high level principles of it so you can, you know, this episode will stand on its own and you'll get a lot out of it. But the first point that I want to share is that the cash in your bank account follows your calendar. You know, there's only five things that make really, really good money in real estate. And the acronym, and hopefully you've heard me say it before, is P L A N S Prospecting lead Follow up appointments with, you know, would be Buyer and seller, clients negotiating, getting a home under contract, a listing or a buyer, and then systems is the S. And if you don't have like an ideal week or you haven't been through an exercise like that, it's one of the core foundational things that we go through. But you have to be able to look at your calendar and just know where you're supposed to be at a given day and a given time of day so that you can have some normalcy in your life. But you can also give yourself the best chances of making the kind of money that you want to make. The second point I'll share with you is that putting a plan together that gives you the confidence that you will achieve your goals allows you to just think once the visual is that you're laying the train tracks between where you are now and where you want to go, and you just have to lay them down. And then next year we just have to follow the path, right? So we're charting the course in advance and there's no guesswork. And then we want to milestone the money making. So that's the third point. And this is if you've heard of. Stephen Covey has this analogy with the rocks and the pebble and the sand. And I think there's even a YouTube video which shows you that, like, the rocks are the big things in life, the pebbles are the smaller things. They're kind of important, but, you know, they can. They can kind of get in the way if you let them. And then the sand is all the really a lot of distraction and whatnot. So we want to make sure that we make room for all of it once we're done with all that. The fourth point is that we want to do a stress test. We want to make sure that once you've crafted this plan, and I'll get through the components of it in a second here, you want to make sure that it actually gets you where you want to be in the future financially, but also from a time perspective, that it's not going to lead you to a point where, let's say you want to go from 20 to 50 sides, but at 50 transactions, you're working eight days a week and your marriage is strained and you haven't worked out in a year. That's not something we want for you. And we'll go through the personal side of it and the professional side of it. And then the last point, once you do all of this, the cash falls, the calendars. You've nailed your calendar. You're laying this Plan. So you're thinking once you're focusing on the rocks and the pebbles and the sand and you're doing a stress test and now it's just time to work the plan. And the visual here is that a horse with blinders on. It's running your race. In one episode, I called it Run Run. Your race is that you're not getting distracted by what other agents are doing because you're clear on the plan that works for you. And so you're going to want to grab a copy of these worksheets. So go into real estate business builders, Facebook group. Find this training in there, you'll find these worksheets. I'm going to walk you through it here. So at least you get an idea of how this goes. So there's a couple. When we think about like the, you know, milestone, the money making and we talk about the big rocks and the pebbles and the, and the sand, the big rocks. From a business perspective, the. Those are the money makers. And this is just declaring where you are the last 12 months in terms of the monthly revenue or GCI gross commission income. You've been able to on average create the number of homes you sold and the number of free days you were able to take. A free day is where you don't work the whole day. You're not thinking about business the whole day. And these are monthly numbers. So let's say you sold one home a month and it was an average commission check of 10,000. Your monthly revenue would have been 10,000, one client a month. And let's say you take no free days, you're working seven days a week in some way. That would be no free days. Now you get to decide where you want to be a year from now. So let's say you want to go from 10,000amonth to 40,000amonth, one deal a month to four deals a month. So that's one client a month to four clients a month. And you want to go from no free days, technically not working, you know, is a free day, to four free days a month. You want to take every Sunday completely off the question to ask yourself, what are the money making activities and at what frequency would I have to do those activities to lock in right now that level of growth, Right. That would be life changing for most of you. Adding another 10 or $20,000 a month of revenue, it's life changing, right? For some of you, you may be running a big business and maybe the profitability is not there. So adding 10 or $20,000 a month it may not be a significant increase percentage wise, but most of it would drop to the bottom line. And I won't get into expenses and the economic model and any of that stuff. But you have to write out the money making activities. So it could be new business development three hours a day, Monday through Friday. Could be lead follow up one hour a day, Monday through Friday. It could be working in the database 30 minutes a day, Monday through Friday. It could be client giveaways. You know, we have a training in real estate, B school called Become the Digital Mayor of youf Market. And that's every other month, right. Social, two posts, two educational posts, weekly, monthly market update once a month. Right. Those are the money making activities. Now we have big rocks in terms of the freedom that you'll be able to get. And this is on the personal side, the big rocks. And this is you deciding right now, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annually, what are the things that you're going to do to lock in freedom in advance. So this is the what, where and when on a weekly basis. It's a date night with my wife. It is a weekly planning session. It is once a month. You're, you know, spending a day at the spa with your wife or a friend. Right. Quarterly, it could be a vacation with your spouse every quarter annually. It could be two epic adventures with the family annually. And you actually write out what you're gonna do, where you're gonna be and when you're gonna do it. So you're locking in advance how you're, how your life is gonna look next year from a freedom perspective. So to be able to still hit my, my goals of growing the business and growing my impact and also being able to do the things that I want to do with my family and friends. So the next one that we'll cover is the next level down. It's the Pebble Planner. These are the deliverables that you have to do in your real estate business and the frequency at which you do them. It's a little bit of an overlap here with the money making activities, but social media or your database marketing plan or you know, I mentioned those client giveaways, which is a great way. Maybe the Thanksgiving pies or you do the chocolates around Valentine's Day or whatever you're doing on a regular basis in terms of deliverables, right. So just another look at where you're going to spend your time. And then probably the most when you look at the sand, you know, so we're doing this rock pebble sand analogy. The sand is, you know, on a professional level, what learning and development or coaching are you going to do next year? Obviously I want to toss my hat in on real estate B school. You can always go to rebs growth assessment.com if you want to have a chat with us. And we're running a ridiculous savings here which you can ask about. We can give you a special invitation for our business foundations case study. Whoever you connect with on the team, just say, hey, I heard Lars talk about this special invite that gets $3,600 savings, which is really cool. So professionally, back to the sans snapshot. Professionally, what were your planning days? Your weekly planning sessions? Maybe you have a team. What are your team training days? And on the personal side, what big events do you have next year? How about when are you going to spend time with your friends? Or what important birthdays or what hobbies are you going to make time for? How about personal care? I get a two hour massage every Friday. For me it's critical. I work out. I get up early 4:45am hasn't always been that way, but I found like massive freedom being awake two hours before anyone else in my house. I get my workout in, I get my, I do cardio, I do weightlifting, I do my infrared sauna and I do personal development all before anyone gets up in the morning. So it is awesome. But so what's your cadence going to be? And then there's this really cool exercise that we did in the actual training in the Facebook group where there's a snapshot of the whole calendar and you block out where things are happening so you can kind of look at the whole year in a snapshot. So that's it my friends. This one was particularly helpful if you jump into the Facebook group and you grab the worksheets. Take time to re listen to this as you go through those worksheets. It'd be really, really helpful for you. But this officially ends our three part series on planning and how to crush it and how to take it from the, you know, three year vision, you know, about where you think you want to be in the future, to the actual tactical, practical blocking and tackling of making sure it happens. So if you want to have a conversation about your business, go to rebsgrowthassessment.com that's R E B S growth growth assessment.com Much love, much respect. We'll talk to you soon. Be good. Next Episode.
