Welcome back to the Business Freedom Podcast. This is Lars Hennenborg, founder of Real Estate B School and the session that we're going to join today. So we're in this sort of deep dive into our world. If you missed the last couple weeks of the podcast, you want to go back and listen to the three part series I did with John Michish, who lives in Bozeman, Montana, runs his real estate team in Charlotte, sells hundreds of homes per year, working one hour a week. And then we talked with Dave Friedman who takes 12 to 15 weeks of vacation a year. He works about a day or two a week, doesn't go into the office. And when I first met him, he was grinding 70 to 80 hours a week. And so the series we're going to get into now, it's part of the same sort of inside look into Real Estate B School is what we call the real estate Business Growth Navigator. So this is a three part series and it takes you through the six stages of growth to go from where the whole industry lives, which is the start phase, it's like survival mode, all the way to true business ownership. And what's required for every one of those stages, what questions you need to ask yourselves, what systems you need to build out, the amount of money you can make per unit of time you put into your business at each of the, the different stages. And so you don't want to miss this. This is going to be awesome. I speak a lot of truth and I get members of ours to chime in as well about their struggles in their journey. And if you, at any point, you're at a point where you're hearing this content, you're engaging, you're like, man, it'd be great to get on this trajectory of growth and hit these stages the way their most successful members have kind of hit their growth targets. All you need to go, all you need to do is go to rebscasestudy.com that's R E B S case study.com and you'll get details about how to work with us for free for 30 days where we'll help you come up with a three year vision, a one year plan, chunk it down into the things you need to do right away in your business. We'll do a personal wellness assessment, a strategic business assessment, all for free. So go to rebscasestudy.com and enjoy this three part series. We're going to have some folks coming in late here. Apparently there was a, a big bender last night. Every, all, all of you got together and had fun. Let's do this. Let's. And this is just looking at some of your names in the participant thread. Go to your name and go to the more button and put your market. Put your name and then your market so we can get to know where everyone. So Jim Brantley has done that. I saw a couple Myrtle Beaches in Orlando. Junior Todd Smith, Minneapolis. So go in. Jared Benson, Fort Worth. Go in and put your. Add your market to your name. Simple test to start the day. Chip is on. Carla is on Billings. Where's Billings? Is that Washington? Montana.
Montana.
Montana. Golly. I've only ever watched my only Montana is. What is it? Yellowstone? The Netflix Montana. Awesome, awesome, awesome. All right, so let's get after here. We will get the party started. So our agenda today we're gonna do Real Estate Business Growth Navigator. Then we've got a special guest that Stacy's going to introduce to really school us on this thing called Instagram. Apparently it's a big thing. I have not figured it out. So I am really excited about our 12pm session. Then we're going to take a break for lunch. Then Misty is going to come in. I'm also excited to see all the cool things she's doing with Trello. When I think about a business being systems driven and I see Misty sort of present her business, it is what I want for all of you. And she has taken it to the highest level, I think, because she thinks in Trello boards. But she has team members that really think that way as well. So that will be awesome. And then we're going to end with a Mastermind session. So start thinking of the one thing that you need help with in your business. And it doesn't matter if you're a team member or you're a team leader, but start thinking about this was our most highly rated session, I think, in the last two digital intensives and one time we pulled you guys out of the rooms too early and it was like, you know, Mutiny, you guys were all pissed off. So start thinking about one thing that you've been working on or you've been struggling with or could be a big thing like getting out of production or, you know, exiting buyers, or it could be just a little nagging thing in your business that you can't get beyond. And the first session is going to give you a little bit of context for where you might be stuck in your business. So, my friends, we are going to start out with the Real Estate Business Growth Navigator. And the reason we want to always go back to this to set the stage. Let me put my. Put you guys on this page over here. We always want to set the stage with the different stages because there is. There are things that you are missing from a stage or two before in your journey that are getting you stuck at this point in your journey. So you guys can just give me a thumbs up if you can see me, but I lost you guys. Give me two seconds. I have to physically find where I put you. Oh, someone's got birds. Is that from my house or someone else's house? All right, give me a second because it's putting you guys behind my slides, and I want to see. I want to see all of you. Right, so that should be there. Pop that out. All right, let me share my screen first. Oh, my friends, I promise I am not technologically. Stacy, any ideas? I can't see what's happening. You can't see us, can't see anybody. Like, the video has disappeared. All right, well, I'm gonna trust that you guys are. We see you, and then when you share your screen, we see your screen. Yeah, it's. Let me put it on gallery over here. Maybe I'll just try sharing Google Chrome. There we go. All right, let's rock it out. All right, so like I was saying, so it doesn't matter where you are in the journey. I want you to pay attention to what you might be missing. So you may be progressing stage to stage, and it may all be well and good, and there's nothing holding you back. For most of us, though, there are things that we chronically don't move past in our business. And there's something for you to take from every. From the conversation around every stage of your growth. So I've told the story of my motivation in business. It is when I got into real estate. It was this realization that the whole business consumed me. Like, really just instantly figured out how to generate leads and convert the leads and get super busy. So I was going to crushing inside sales for a good chunk of my week, and then it required that I figure out how to do outside sales. That's all I really focused on for my first three years in the business. So I went from 27 to 44 to 58 sides instantly just buried in the business. And so I had. You know, a lot of us are motivated, you know, by this sense of wanting to control, and that leads to achievement based on alcoholic father, drank till I was 15. My parents divorced when I was 4. No money growing up. So on the plus side, I chose a path that's a little bit more socially acceptable. That's achievement. On the other hand, it led to putting work ahead of the things that matter more to me. And so when I was working like instantly seven days a week, I'm like, there's no way I could be a good husband and a good father. And I had a model of my inspiration was my dad, who was not present at all as a dad. And he wasn't for really anything. He was super selfish as a husband and he failed in business. And so he really was this awesome model for me of what I didn't want to be. So in a lot of ways, I've used this, this, this man here as motivation for me to do business differently. So when I first got into real estate in 2007, this was like the first book I read outside of, I don't even know, I would imagine. I mean, I got my business degree from duke in like 2002, 3 and 4. So I'm sure I've read a book during that, but I didn't remember and then college before that. So this book changed how I viewed business. And from the moment I read this book, my approach to business changed. And so fundamentally it was the question of like, if you were to replicate the business that you're in right now. So think about this for yourself. It doesn't matter if you're a team owner or if you're a member of a team. If you were to replicate the business you have now 10,000 times, how would you have to think about it differently? Right? So just, just think about that for a second. So when I, when I was reading this book, 2007 or so 2008, I was the only one in my business. I hired a part time assistant in 2008 who quickly became full time. And I'm like, I don't have a business. Like, if you can't replicate it in my mind, I didn't have a business. Right. You just have this job. And so this really stuck with me and it forced me to think about. In the book, they talk about a franchise prototype and are you really moving your business forward in a way where you're building a franchise prototype? The franchise prototype meaning, like I can take this thing and roll it out 10,000 markets across the world and it would operate smoothly. You may never have a second location. So the concept of a franchise prototype is irrelevant. So I want to play this video. If you haven't seen the movie, the founder, who is it? Michael Keaton in the movie is not portrayed as like a Nice guy. He's the guy that essentially figured out a way to legally sort of take the speedy system, I think is what the McDonald brothers called it, and roll it out into the 10,000, 20, 50, however many locations they have now. But as we watch this example, I want you to think about if you're on the ladder and you're orchestrating, or if you're flipping burgers. And so let's. Let's watch this real quick. I have to stop share so I can share my sound here real quick. Okay. There we go.
And that's what brings us to the.
Biggest cut of all, which was the weight. Orders ready in 30 seconds. Not 30 minutes. Mecca.
We look at each other one night.
You thinking what I'm thinking?
We're gonna have to tear down, rebuild, reconfigure, rethink the whole dang thing.
We're talking about shutting down a thriving business for months.
People are gonna think we're crazy.
We were crazy.
And you were gonna love how we did it. Dick, you gotta tell him.
Tennis court.
Okay.
He brings me up to this tennis court, and he's drawn this line. The exact dimensions of our kitchen.
Sink on the right, extruder on the left. Bagging and hood. Okay. Garnish. Garnish. This is burger finish. Got it. And then this is burger slide. We could just move those. Okay. Multi mixer, soft drinks. Okay.
We bring out our whole staff and we have them go through the motions making pretend burgers and fries.
All right, Steve, anticipate that. You gotta keep the tray level. Okay?
Dick is running around with this stick marking where all the equipment should be.
Tuck in. Tony, are you gonna skip the pickles when we're really doing it?
They do it over and over, hashing it out, choreographing it like some crazy.
Burger ballet going on over there. Yes. No. No. Everybody stop. Stop. Garnish 1. Garnish 2. You've got pickles, you've got onions. It's a goddamn hamburger. Come on, clear off. Let's clear off. It's time for the pink chalk. And then root beer orange. See it? See all this open space here? Now, we've rearranged the fry situation, so now it's stage left, the deep fryer, stage right again. That's great. Come on, guys. They're pretty tied up here. Yeah. Watch it. It's the timing of the Lazy Susan. Those are finished burgers. You can't hold it. I still think there's a third version.
What do you want to move?
I want to move everything back to Stage left, please. Got it all drawing. This is better. Doing all right? I think so. I guess. I guess. Let's assume our battle station. Okay. Finally, after about six hours of this, we get it just right. It's a symphony of efficiency, not a wasted motion. Good form, Jasper. Feel good about those pickles. Ketchup. Use your lazy Susan. Put your back into it. It Seth. And pickles and pickle and mustard. We take the layout to a builder, custom build the kitchen to our exact specs.
The speedy system is born. The world's first ever system to deliver food.
All right, so as Misty presents this afternoon, you have to make the determination and decide for yourself if you naturally and embody this vision or even ability to focus on systems as the way to do business versus you just doing stuff. Right? So we're in real estate B school to take a different path. It is the path to build a business that provides the most awesome buyer and seller residential real estate services in all the land in all the world. Right? So that's the vision. You can't possibly do it alone, right? So you can't possibly make the kind of money that you want to make working the hours you want to work with a level of stress that's manageable if you don't have this vision of just constantly building it and over a period of years and quarters and months and weeks and days just to constantly work on it. And when you see Misty present, she is like the McDonald's brothers on the ladder. Like that system's not working, our agent on board isn't. And I see her tilt her head like I'm giving her too much credit. She really is like the mind of a business builder and building a franchise prototype. And so just think about that. What if your business, on a scale of 1 to 10, actually, let me do this. Go to the chat and tell me on a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being you're ready to roll out the Speedy system to 10,000 markets today, meaning your business is ready rep.
