If you guys didn't know, View velocity is a very important factor in ranking videos on YouTube. That means how many views can you get onto a video in the first hour? The first three hours, the first 24 hours, okay, so forth and so on. By getting the most views possible, you're more likely to rank your video. So in this video I'm going to go over when exactly is the best time to post your videos during the week.
Now, if you saw my video on consistency on how often you should be posting on YouTube, you saw that I recommended posting at least once a week to maintain consistency in the beginning. But what day should you post it and what time should you post? And that's really going to depend on your specific audience. But fortunately for us, YouTube has some analytics that's going to show us exactly when to do this. Now, I'm over here in my YouTube studio studio, and for some of you guys, you may not have enough data yet for this information to pop up. I'm going to show you where it's going to pop up when it happens. And if you don't have this data yet, I'm going to talk to you about some common practices for best times of posting videos. Anyway, so what we're going to do is we're going to come over here to analytics and then we're going to come up here and we're going to click on audience. And if you scroll down, you'll see when your viewers are on YouTube. Well, YouTube, thank you so much for providing this information. Now you're going to see these bands, these dark bands and these light bands. Now, the lighter the color, the less viewers on YouTube. The darker the color, the more viewers. So you can see here, if I hover, this says some of your viewers are online. It gets a little darker here. Many of your viewers are online. And then very many of your viewers are online for these dark bands. So, so you can see my audience tends to be on around 10 o' clock to 12 o'. Clock. Really in these afternoon hours. They're really not on late at night. So if I post a video at, you know, 9:00pm on a Tuesday, I'm going to miss out on this wave here. We want to try. It's like surfing. You want to ride that wave, that view velocity. So usually what I do is, is I will post. So this is my very many viewers and right here. So what's this? This is 9am so ideally I would post about an hour before very many of my viewers are on. This way I'm riding that wave up the viewer when most of my viewers are going to be on. So if I if all of my viewers or a lot of them are on at 9am, I'm releasing 8 o' clock and I'm riding that wave and the 9 o' clock hits and I really take off for for the next couple of hours. Now like I said, View velocity is very important. So the timing of releasing your video can be very important. Now I want to note here it says, you know, publish time is not known to directly affect the long term performance of a video. So you know, if you post a video and you didn't get it in the wrong right time slot, it doesn't mean that that video is never going to take off. It could still take off, but anything you can do to increase the probability that one of your videos is going to rank and take off helps. Now if you have a newer channel like my full time Tubers channel, you're going to see that there's just not enough viewer data to show this report yet. So what do you do if you don't have this report on your channel? Hey guys, hope you're enjoying this video so far. Don't forget to subscribe and turn on your notifications this way. YouTube will let you know when I release more videos just like this one. So the answer to this question is going to be highly dependent on your audience. You now the best times that I recommend posting, even if you don't know when your audience is going to be on, is the weekends. Most people are on YouTube watching their videos on the weekends because people aren't as at work. Usually Monday through Friday people work. So you want to post at a time when someone's going to be on. So I would recommend if you're going to post once a week, try and do something Saturday morning. I'm in the United States dates, so I try and do Saturday mornings. This way I ride that wave of Saturday viewership. I also ride that wave of Sunday viewership. You could try posting on Friday. It really doesn't matter. Just make sure that if you post that, you let your audience know, hey, I'm going to post every week. Saturday 8am you'll get a new video from me by letting your viewers know they're going to be anticipating when you release that video. And they'll know, even if they aren't there for the exact timing, they'll know that on Saturday you released a video. I release my new song lessons every Saturday and my viewers know that if they want to go Check out the new song lesson of the week that on Saturdays I release it. So whether they catch it on Saturday, Sunday, Monday, they know it's been released on Saturday morning. Now you can see from my bands here, a lot of these are mornings and afternoons and you're saying, Lauren, wow, wouldn't a lot of people be at work at that time? And for me, my audience is old. I do focus more on retirees who tend to have more time in the mornings and afternoons. But also I have a big following in the UK. So 10 o' clock in the morning here is 4 o' clock in the evening in the UK when a lot of people are getting out of work and getting home. So that's why my bands across the board tend to fall late mornings and early afternoon. So you see, my audience isn't just in the United States. I have people in the uk, Canada, Australia. Those are my big demographics and you can see that in your audience data too. So if you come back over here and you scroll down, you'll see on the right hand side we have top geographies. So 40% of my audience is in the United States, 8%. My number two is the United Kingdom and then Canada. And Canada is going to follow kind of the same timescale as the US I also have Germany and France, so more European countries. So like I said, there's that time zone difference and that's why I post my videos for my audience at that time. But if you're just getting started, I would recommend picking either, you know, a Friday morning or a Saturday morning and letting that roll through the weekend. View times when people are usually home on the weekends.
