Lauren Bateman (creator of The Creator Launchpad) introduces her YouTube channel and mission: to help content creators and educators stop trading time for money by building online course businesses. She recounts her shift from teaching music in a small home studio to opening a commercial location in 2012 and scaling to three brick-and-mortar sites, losing ~35% of revenue when COVID hit in 2020, then pivoting to YouTube and online courses. Key milestones: a late-2019 viral video that accelerated channel growth, making $16,000 in an April 2020 sale that confirmed the potential of online education, and later selling $70,000–$150,000/month in courses while growing a channel of 400,000+ subscribers. The channel will publish weekly content on marketing, course creation, team building, and the mental side of entrepreneurship, with guest experts and audience-driven topics.

My name is Lauren Bateman and I am a serial entrepreneur who has had success in both the brick and mortar space as well as the online course education space. The goal of this YouTube channel is to help content creators and educators just like you stop selling your time for money. Instead, I want to show you how you can leverage your knowledge to to make more money off of your passions and create a better quality of life for you and your family. Because that's exactly what I did. I went from teaching 50 to 60 clients selling my time for money to leveraging platforms like YouTube and Google to sell anywhere from 70,000 to $150,000 a month in courses. The content on this channel will be especially helpful to creators in the service and education industries like myself in food, fitness, beauty, and so many more. I'll show you with how to get started with an online business as well as how to grow and scale that business so that you can start hiring a team around you to free up your time while still growing your brand and your business. My business journey has been challenging, but it has been life changing. I started teaching music with no degree in music or education. They were actually in archaeology and biology. So talk about feeling imposter syndrome. I taught out of a small, dark and cluttered spare bedroom in my apartment. I wish I had a picture of this because I am surprised to this day when I look back that people actually signed up for lessons with me. But it wasn't the room they were after. It was the belief I gave them that their dreams were were possible and that I was going to help them get there. My business grew and eventually I filled up all my spots and I had to extend my hours. I was teaching some nights until 10 o' clock at night, then I was teaching on the weekends. I opened up Saturdays and to say that I was exhausted was an understatement. This led me to the idea that I should be leveraging other people's time to help me grow my business. And it led to me opening my first first commercial location in 2012. I grew that business into three brick and mortar locations until Covid hit in 2020 and we lost 35% of our business overnight. That's when YouTube and online courses came in to save my life. I knew there were already tons of guitar teachers out there with millions of subscribers and huge audiences. Like why would anyone want to pay attention to me when they had all these other big names out there? But you know, I figured I would give it a shot. I uploaded my first video to one view and I Felt really deflated. I think it was my own view. I put so much time and effort into making this video and that's all I got, was one single view. But I didn't let it discourage me. And over time, more and more people started tuning in. I was working very part time on my channel until something happened. Towards the tail end of 2019, one of my videos was went viral. It went from getting, you know, 10 to 12 views a day to all of a sudden getting 2,000, 3,000, 4,000 views a day. And it made me wake up and say, I need to start paying attention to what's going on over here. And then something life changing happened. In April of 2020, after the government had shut down my business, I made a last ditch effort to make some money because I was like, I'm either going to have to start firing people or, or we're going to have to do something drastic to save this business. So I ran a sale on my website and the result was that I made the most money I had ever made in my entire Life, which was $16,000. I remember being in the kitchen, it was towards the last day in April and I just kept getting emails and I kept watching the revenue graph go up and up and up. As we were having a conversation, she's like, did you just make another sale? And I was like, I think our life just changed forever. And it did. It really opened my eyes to the possibilities of the online education space. And I went all in. My YouTube channel now has over 400,000 subscribers. And I mentioned in the same sentences as a lot of those giants I looked up to when I first started my YouTube journey through this channel. I want to show you the same thing that I showed my music students in that little studio so many years ago. The belief that this is possible and that your dreams can come true. I'm going to do that through weekly content releases, sharing valuable information around, you know, marketing, course creation. But I'll also have industry experts that'll be coming on and sharing their insight and advice with you as well. Not only that, we'll be diving into the mental side of running a business. The entrepreneur journey is an emotional roller coaster. It's full of ups and downs and I have been smacked in the face many times over the last couple decades. I'd love to share what I've learned along the way with you so that you can start making your dreams and your business become a reality. The only person stopping you from becoming your next best self is you. But it does help massively having support and and guidance and motivation along the way. So make sure to subscribe to this channel and leave a comment below with any business questions that you might have. This way, I can help make content that will help you grow a profitable business and start helping you live the life that you have always wanted to.
