Lauren Bateman called two garage door companies. One ignored her for four weeks. The other responded Friday, invoiced Monday, and got the job even though it cost $400 to $500 more. She paid the premium for speed.

For a business owner, this is a very important lesson on getting back to clients. I just bought a new car. My wife's getting a new car. We only have one garage with a functional door. So I called an overhead door company and said, I need a garage door. They came and looked at it. This was the end of January, January 30th. And they said, we'll get you a quote, no problem. I wait a couple weeks, I don't hear anything. I follow up with them saying, hey, just wanna make sure you had my email. I'm waiting for the invoice on this garage door. Didn't hear anything. So I called another company. They came out on 4 Friday and sent me an invoice on Monday, and it went with that company. Now, the other company just sent me their invoice today, Thursday. So after almost four weeks, they finally sent me their invoice and I went with the company. Got back to me right away. Even though they were more expensive by like 4 or $500, I'm more than happy to pay the money because I know they're going to treat me as a priority and I know as soon as that garage door comes in, they're going to be installing it and I can have a new home for my car.
