A short first-person YouTube commentary by Lauren Bateman about how low view counts (e.g., single- or double-digit views) after many hours of work can be demoralizing for creators. She describes wearing many hats when producing videos (editing, audio/visual, thumbnails, graphics), admits she nearly quit YouTube twice, and expresses relief that she persevered.
It's super demoralizing when you upload a video and you get one view, two views. And I know lots of people that I even work with, they're like, I uploaded a video and I got 10 views and I spent seven hours editing the video. And that can be demoralizing for a lot of people. And it almost made me quit twice. I will admit I almost quit YouTube twice because I'm like, I'm putting all this time and effort because when you're doing YouTube, you're wearing all the hats. You're the editor, you're the content creator, you're the audio visual person, you're uploading the content, you're the thumbnail, the graphic designer. It's a lot, lot of work. And when you're putting that much time and effort into something and you're getting like 10 views, 20 views, it can be super demoralizing and make you want to quit. But I'm really glad that I didn't.
