FREE Ways To Promote Your YouTube Channel TODAY

Lauren Bateman’s YouTube tutorial explains multiple free ways to promote a YouTube channel, framed by the claim that creators must treat YouTube like a business. She recommends using social media (Facebook groups—respect rules, Instagram stories/clips and channel URL, Twitter backlinks, and Pinterest), posting in relevant Reddit communities, and creating a personal website that embeds videos to capture Google organic traffic and funnel viewers to YouTube. She also urges buying a domain and building organic content, and concludes with a paid "YouTube Jumpstart" course (targeted at channels under 1,000 subscribers) as an optional next step.

To be successful on YouTube, you have to promote, promote, promote. In this video, I'm going to show you some free ways that you can promote your YouTube channel and grow it to success. Hey, content creators, welcome back. And in this video, we're going to be going over some different ways that you can promote your YouTube channel for absolutely free. Now, the thing with YouTube, and this is, you know, YouTube's a business, and most business owners, whether it's a brick and mortar business or an online business, they think just because they open their doors, that everyone all of a sudden, miraculously, is going to know they exist and come flooding in. And then we put our first video up, and we have one viewer. When I uploaded my first video, I got one view on it, and it was probably me, okay? It happens to everyone. And what a lot of people don't understand, they don't treat YouTube like a business, which means they don't promote their channel enough to get eyeballs on their content. So there's lots of free, different ways to promote your YouTube channel. Number one, use social media platforms. Okay? We have Facebook, we have Instagram, you have Twitter. All right? These are great ways. Everything you send out into the social media universe helps to promote the YouTube channel. Now, on Facebook, we have groups. There's Facebook groups. And you have to be careful with groups, okay? Because not all groups allow you to post YouTube videos. So you have to read the rules for certain groups. So I went online and I found some guitar groups, specifically guitar groups for beginners. And I read through the rules and. And some of them allowed no posting at all. You couldn't post. So I didn't really join those groups. Um, the other groups, I found a few that they were like, yeah, you can post once a week or once a month. And I would start posting my videos. And they're saying, hey, I have this great video that I just released on this. It'll help you do that. Go check it out. So I use Facebook groups as a way to get some eyeballs onto my viewership in the beginning. The other thing you can do is you can use Instagram, you can create little short clips from your current, and you can use your stories. I use my stories a lot. And I tell people, hey, the new song lessons come out. And I put my little link. Of course, you know, you have to have enough followers to have that link. But now I put the picture with the thumbnail. I say, hey, the new lessons. I'll go watch the lesson over here. When I didn't have my enough followers to Have a link. I would just say, hey guys, new lesson is up on my YouTube and I would put my YouTube channel URL. Fortunately, it was very easy. It was YouTube.com backslash Lauren Bateman. So it was very easy for people to go and find that if they wanted to. And of course I promoted over on Twitter because even though I didn't get a lot of views from Twitter, it provides a backlink to YouTube and it sends a really good signal to YouTube, like hey, oh, there's this, this Twitter link about this video. So it must be important. So don't forget there's like an SEO aspect of YouTube as well that these social media platforms will help you promote. And another one that I found really interesting in the social media platform is actually Pinterest. I was uploading things to Pinterest as a guitar teaching website and I notice especially when my channel was younger, I was, I was getting a lot of traffic from Pinterest. So don't ignore. I know you're like, think Pinterest is like, you know, pictures and design. That's what I thought it was. And I was like, oh, let me just upload some things to Pinterest. And I noticed that I was actually getting a lot of traffic from there. So don't ignore Pinterest. Go over there, create an account and start uploading some things for your channel. Number two, Reddit. Reddit is a great forum for sharing information. It works very similar to Facebook groups. There are communities and again you're going to want to find communities where you are allowed to post. For example, I belong to a small YouTuber community on Reddit and it allows you to post one video a week. That's it. But you know, for this channel, right now I'm just doing one piece of long form content every week. So that's awesome. I take the video, I bring it over to Reddit, I explain what the video is about, why they would benefit from watching it, and I put the link there and read it in the beginning, especially on my guitar channel. Helped me get a lot of views externally. Number three, your website. If you do not have a website for your YouTube channel, I highly recommend that you go and make one. Now remember, YouTube is a search engine, okay? It's a search engine. How to fix this, how to do that? People are typing search keywords to find videos that help them learn something for the most part. Okay. Unless you're trying to find like funny cat videos. Google owns YouTube. Google is the largest search engine. Alright, So I used my website laurenbatement.com I used my website to get organic traffic from Google. Okay? People would type in and search for things. They'd end up on my website and then on that web page I would embed a YouTube video related to whatever it was that topic was. So people would read. They come on, maybe they came on looking, you know, how to play an A chord. Okay, how to play an A chord on guitar. They would, would find the article and then when they would scroll down the page, you'd be like, hey, I have a tutorial on this. Then they go and click on the tutorial and guess what? It takes them over to YouTube to watch the how to play an 8 chord video. So this is what you can do with your website. I think this is the biggest piece of the puzzle that a lot of people on YouTube are missing. You don't have a website to promote your YouTube channel. Your YouTube channel is a business. I know I keep, you know, I'm beating a dead horse. But so many people don't understand the fact that YouTube is a business and you have to treat it like a business. Businesses have to, have to have a website. If you don't have a website, that will be. The first thing I recommend you do today is go over to GoDaddy, buy a domain name and start building organic content. Because now you're benefiting from Google search and you're benefiting from YouTube search. They're going to feed each other.
