A short YouTube segment where Lauren Bateman explains her content strategy: she primarily creates beginner guitar courses but gathers audience input to develop intermediate offerings (fingerpicking was most requested). She adapts video thumbnails to signal intermediate lessons and mixes beginner and intermediate song lessons to retain and serve evolving customers.

I focus the majority of my content on beginners because that's really the bulk of people who are buying my courses and my beginner courses made for beginners. But not everyone stays a beginner forever. So you want to start having things for people who are already in your customer base. So I sent out an email. I had this beginner course, and I said, what do you guys want to learn next? Choose between these finger picking, bar chords, music theory, songwriting. And the thing that got the most votes was finger picking. And I said, cool. The next course I'm making is a finger picking course. I would start incorporating song lessons that have finger picking, and I would do some beginner ones, and then I would do some that are intermediate. And when I do a video that's a little bit more intermediate with more intricate strumming, bar chords, finger picking, we'll put it on the thumbnail. And it does get less views, but at least I'm serving that audience. And they say, yeah, Lauren does beginners, but she also has something for us that are intermediate.
