A short YouTube tutorial by Lauren Bateman (guitar teacher) explaining ways small YouTube channels can earn money outside Google AdSense. Bateman explains the YouTube Partner Program thresholds (1,000 subscribers and 4,000 watch hours), describes using Patreon (tiered monthly support with exclusive content) and selling self-hosted courses (she uses Kajabi). She reports that AdSense comprises roughly 10% of her teaching income, recommends creating a small “mini-course” (about 10 lessons) priced around $27–$47, and notes it took her about one year to reach 1,000 subscribers. The video concludes with a call-to-action to subscribe, links in the description, and an invitation to comment for follow-up questions.

Hey youtubers, Lauren Bateman here. In this video we're going to talk about YouTube monetization and things you can do outside of Google Ads to build your business on YouTube.
So one of the top questions I get asked by YouTubers and musicians because I'm a guitar teacher here on YouTube is how do I monetize on YouTube? And everyone focuses on YouTube ads. And while I do make a lot of Money on on YouTube ads, it is a very small fraction of what I really use to make money here on YouTube. Now for those of you that are interested, it takes 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 hours of watch time to even qualify for Google AdSense revenue here on YouTube. Now, if you're a small YouTube channel, you can understand that going from zero to a thousand subscribers can take time. It took me about one year to get to that 1000 subscribers mark. So what did I do to make money on YouTube until I got to that point? So there are a number of other things that you can focus on. And my channel focuses on teachers and courses. So if you are a teacher, I would recommend something like a Patreon channel where you can share exclusive information with supporters. And they start by doing a monthly donation. It's small at first, but it does grow over time, especially if you're promoting it and providing extra value. This could be PDFs, this could be, you know, exclusive content, behind the scenes, anything that you think your supporters would be interested in. And all you have to do is say, hey guys, if you're enjoying this channel, I'm going to put a link to my Patreon below. Please go and support the channel. And for doing that, I'm going to provide you with some extra valuable information. Now don't mess up like I did in the middle. That was just me free forming it, but you guys get the idea and you can set up different tiers and you know, $5, $10, $20 and maybe you'll start making a few hundred dollars a month. It's way better than waiting a year to get your 1,000 subscribers. Hey Youtubers, hope you are enjoying the content in this video. Don't forget to subscribe and turn the notifications on so that you'll know when I release more content just like this. The main way I make income off of YouTube is selling courses. So like I said, I'm a guitar teacher, so. So I sell courses on YouTube about different things that people want to learn, questions that students, a lot of application and additional stuff on my courses which I host through Kajabi I really like the Kajabi platform. If you're interested in checking that out, I'll put a link in the description below. YouTube ads is really only about 10% of the income that I make from teaching off of YouTube. So that gives you an idea of how much money you can make off of courses. Especially when you have a smaller audience having something that you can give away. I usually recommend that, you know, you do like a little mini course, something that's maybe 10 lessons that gives people a quick win that you can sell in the price range of 27 to $47. Trust me, there's so many people that if you help them, they will be more than happy to pay you a little bit of money to support your channel and get something of massive value. You never know when one of your videos is going to take off and that course is going to start selling like hotcakes, because that's what happened to me. I hope guys enjoyed this video. If you have any questions about monetization options on YouTube, put a comment below. I'm more than happy to answer your questions or even make another video to answer it for you.
