A short first-person YouTube monologue by Lauren Bateman describing her gradual transition from traditional employment to pursuing music and YouTube. She emphasizes maintaining existing income (brick-and-mortar business) while building new creative work part-time before fully pulling away from prior income streams.
When I started, I didn't give up everything. I mean, when I quit my job to do music, I cut everything off and cut the lifeline. This meant I had to put the work in to start making the money so I could survive. And then when I started YouTube, it's not like I gave up everything in the beginning. I still have my brick and mortar business. I was making money off of that and I started cutting out some time to start doing this YouTube thing somewhat part time. So I worked on building the business before I pulled away from my other income stream.
