Lauren Bateman recounts that she recorded her first course at the end of 2017 entirely on her phone, using at most a lapel mic plugged into the phone. She recorded so much on the device that it ultimately malfunctioned ("burnt out"), effectively killing the phone. The clip is a short, first-person anecdote from a YouTube #shorts video.

When I first started, it wasn't much, I'll be truthful. You know, I think I recorded my course the end of 2017, and I did it all with just, like, a phone. I didn't have a camera. Maybe I did buy a lapel mic for the course. Like that plugged into my phone. But literally my first course was done entirely on my phone. I did so much recording on my phone that I actually burnt it out. Like, I totally killed my phone.
