A short YouTube tutorial by Lauren Bateman teaching a simplified version of Johnny Cash’s “I Walk the Line.” The instructor demonstrates a three-chord arrangement (A, D, E) and a ‘boom-chuck’ strumming pattern (bass note then treble ‘chuck’), then plays/sings a lyric snippet to illustrate the pattern.
Today I'm going to teach you a great song by Johnny Cash called Walk the Line. This is a simplified version that only requires three chords. An A chord, a D chord, and an E chord. And I'm going to show you a boom chuck style strumming pattern where the boom is the bass note of the chord, the lowest string of the chord. And then the chuck is the treble notes, the brighter sounding tones on the guitar. So it's going to sound like this.
Boom chuck. Boom chuck. Boom Chuck. One and two and. And three and four. There. Ready? Here we go. I keep a close watch? On this heart of mine? I keep my eyes wide open all the time?
