Lauren Bateman recounts how she started her music school on a very limited budget by finding a space that was already partly built out and doing DIY renovations (knocking down walls, installing carpet). Her main point: prioritize launching over perfection — get the business running and fix mistakes later.
I think a big thing in business is. I was always resourceful. Even when I opened up my music school, I found a place that had rooms already built out. And we did it on a cheap budget. I didn't have a lot of money to invest in a big commercial space. And doing a full build out, we kind of did stuff ourselves. We knocked down a couple walls, I installed carpet. It looked horrible. But we got the business up and running. It's not about having things be perfect. It's about getting things going. You can always correct mistakes down the road.
