Short YouTube tutorial by Lauren Bateman (May 18, 2023) teaching how to play clean guitar chords—using the C chord as an example—and giving finger/thumb positioning tips and a practice strategy (play slowly and keep repeating muted strings until they ring).
The key to playing clean chords is to go very slow. Say you're working on a chord like the C chord.
For a lot of people, they tend to mute that fourth string with their third finger. And the reason is because they don't have enough bend on their knuckle on the third finger. So to get this chord clean, you need to make sure that your thumb is moved further back so you have more stretch underneath so that you can curl your fingers around the strings. And if you have a muted string, keep playing it until you fix the issue and make it ring through.
