Leaving On A Jet Plane Play Along Guitar Lesson

A play-along guitar video (transcript) by Lauren Bateman guiding viewers through playing "Leaving on a Jet Plane." The host introduces a simplified strumming pattern for a slow play-through, references a full lesson and chord chart on her website, then performs the song twice: first with a simple down-down-down-up pattern and a slower tempo, and a second time using a syncopated pattern (down, down, up, up, down, up...). The video is instructional and intended for practicing chord transitions (notably A and D) and strumming rhythms.

Oh, babe, I hate to see you go.
Hey, everybody, welcome back. We're doing the play along video for Leaving on a Jet Plane. Very, very simple song, very good song to practice your transitions between A and D. And what we're gonna do here is this is our play along series. So the play along series is where you get to play along with me first. We'll play through pretty slow. And this is a pretty slow song. I mean, there's not much I can do to embellish this one. A lot. I mean, you can always cam, but I'm not going to. So we'll play through using a simplified strumming the first time. The second time through, I'll maybe play a little bit faster. Not much faster because it's not a fast song and use the more syncopated strumming. So if you need the chord chart for this, go to my website, laurenbatement.com. print that out, come back here, and then we can play along. If you're looking for the lesson video to learn how to play the song, the link will be below this video. So we're going to start off with the intro. And for this first time through, I'm just going to keep a very, very simple strumming pattern. I won't do a syncopated rhythm. We'll probably do. Why don't we do 1, 2, 3 and 4.
And 1, 2, 3 and 4. And 1, 2, 3 and four. And down, down, down, up, down, up.
We'll use that one for these. Simple. The simple. If you watch the lesson video and you just want to do the.
You can also use that and keep it super simple. So I'm going to start with the intro and go through this and we'll take it from the top. Here we go.
1, 2, 3, 4. And now.
There's a PA and I'm ready to go.
I'm standing here outside your door I need to wake you up to say goodbye.
But the dawn is breaking it's early morning.
Taxi waiting he's blowing his own.
Already I'm so lonesome I could cry.
So kiss me and smile.
Tell me that you'll wait for me.
Hold me like you'll never let me go.
Some leaving on a jet plane don't know when I'll be back again oh, babe, I hate to see you go.
So many times I let you down.
So many times I lay around.
I'll.
Tell you now that they don't mean a thing.
Place I'll go I'll think of you.
The song I'll Sing. I'll sing for you.
When I come back. I'll bring a wedding.
Chorus. Here we go.
So kiss me and smile for me.
Tell me that go away from me.
Me like you'll never let me go.
Cause I'm leaving on a jet plane I don't know and I'll be back again all day my hate to go.
Time has come and I'm leaving you.
Just one more time Let me kiss you.
Close your eyes and I'll be on my way.
Dream about the days to come Will I won't I won't have to leave you alone.
But the times when I won't have to say goodbye.
So kiss me and smile for me.
Tell me away from me.
Hold me lion never let me go.
Cuz I'm leaving on a jet plane I don't know when I'll be back again oh babe I hate the way you go.
And there you have it. That is leaving on a jet plane. Probably not going to play much faster than that. But I'm going to use the syncopated rhythm this time through. If you want some practice playing with that. So it's going to be down, down, up, up, down, up, down, down, up, up, down, up. And if you just want to keep practicing the down, down, ups. Perfect. Just keep doing that. No problem. Keep it simple. Alright, here we go. Just a little bit faster. Not much faster. It's not a fast song.
1, 2, 3, 4.
All right, verse.
Let it go I'm standing here outside you know I ain't to wake you up to say goodbye.
Dawn is breaking it early morning.
