Lauren Bateman teaches The Beatles' Let It Be with two full play-throughs: a slower version first, then faster with optional 16th-note strumming. She shows two simplified strumming patterns and provides a downloadable chord chart on her website.
Let it be Let it be Let it be Let it be.
Whisper words of wisdom Let it be.
Hey, everyone, welcome back. This is the play along lesson for the song Let It Be. This is not the actual lesson tutorial. How to play the song in the Play along series, I basically play through songs beginning to end to give you an opportunity to play a song along with someone else and work on playing it from the beginning to the end. It's sometimes helpful to play along with someone else. So usually what I do is I'll play it through the first time a little bit slower and then the second time I play it a little bit faster with a little bit more embellishments. Now for this song, you can go to my website, laurenbatement.com Go download the chord chart. There's a link below this video where you can go and get that and then print it out and you can play along with me. I'll also put some of the chords on the screen. The progressions up on the screen too. But for the strumming pattern, for this, you can either play two down strums per chord or you can play a down, down, up strumming pattern. If you want to keep it very, very simplified. I'll probably do whatever comes into my hand at that point, but I'm gonna play the first time through a little bit slower. The second time through probably up to speed more. So let's get started with the intro. So we've got 1, 2, 3.
When I find myself in times of trouble Mother Mary comes to me Speaking words of wisdom Let it be.
In my hour of darkness she is standing right in front of me.
Speaking words of wisdom Let it be.
Let it be Let it be.
Let it be Let it be.
Whisper words of wisdom Let it be.
When the brokenhearted people Living in the world Agree.
There will be an answer Let it be.
Though they may be parted there's still a chance that they will see.
There will be an answer Let it be.
Well, let it be Let.
Let it be Let it be.
Whisper words of wisdom Let it be.
Well, let it be Let it be.
Let it be Let it be.
Whisper words of wisdom Let it be.
When the night is cloudy There is still a light that shines on me Shining till tomorrow Let it be.
I wake up to the sound of music Mother Mary comes to me Speaking words of wisdom Let it be.
And let it be Let it be Let it be Let it be.
Whisper words of wisdom Let it be.
Well, let it be Let it be Let it be Let it be.
Whisper Words of wisdom. Let it be.
And there you go.
That's Let it be. So I kept that simple pattern throughout. Now the second time through this song isn't much faster than that. You could probably play it at that speed and you'd be perfectly fine. But what I'm going to do in this next section is I'm probably going to use some 16th note strumming and I might even hop some of the chords. Meaning I'm going to change on the up strum. We'll see how I feel. Well, let's take it through from the beginning again. If you just want to stick with the two down strums, totally fine. You don't have to go with me. We're gonna take it again from the beginning. Gonna pick up speed just a little bit because this is a slow song. But give you guys another opportunity to play through. And another thing too. If you guys are enjoy these play alongs and the videos that I do here on YouTube and on my website, feel free to go to laurenbatement.com donate. You can always make a donation if you're appreciating what I'm doing here and I appreciate your support. So let's start off with the second time through. So we got 1, 2, 3, 4.

And there you have it. That's actually one of my favorite Beatles songs I like. I play that one live a lot. So I hope you guys enjoyed it. You can see I added a little bit more dynamics, some different kind of chord changes or in terms of where I changed the chord, the timing a little bit, but that's it. Let it be on guitar. I hope you guys practice hard and that you're able to keep up with me. If not, don't worry. Go practice the song on your own. Come back, work on those chord changes or simplify the strumming so that you can keep up with me in the lessons. So I'll see you guys in the next video.
