How long have I been studying my instrument and why did I decide to invest in it? Well, turning 50, that's the first item on my bucket list. And I really wanted to be able to play with two hands. And I decided this was the right time to do it.
The things I like to do with my instrument now that I wasn't able to do before taking lessons is I sort of take it on the road with me. So if I travel and a friend has a piano, I'll play little ditties here and there at home. I really enjoy just stopping for 10 minutes, 15 minutes at a time really helps me practice. So I don't look at it as like a burden. It's really just a fun thing. And I have to say that it's been quite a nice hobby to pick up. I'm really happy with it. I can comment actually on my current instructor, Scott, and actually have some comparison to the past, because years ago in grammar school, I played the clarinet. Scott's extremely knowledgeable. He definitely is extremely patient. And he's learned how to be creative with me in the sense that he paces me in a direction that I really like when I need to go from a formal reading of music to maybe a jazzy song. So it's been a great fit for me and I've been really pleased with the quality. I really feel my investment in my instrument was well worth it. Having purchased some, something that will be of value for a long time, something that will create a hobby that I can go to for many years to come, was a wise choice. And I would highly recommend anybody who has that bucket list coming up, that child that they want to teach a lesson to or have learning lessons with, that they really decide to make a commitment to lessons because they really help you into a career or into an enjoyment, a copy that that might be a lifelong opportunity for you.
