I hope you have fun.
Near all of your.
Merry, merry Christmas.
And happy glory.
Let's hope it's a good one.
Without anything.
Hey, guys, it's Lauren here trying to get in a good Christmas classic before the holidays for you guys. So this is John Lennon's War is Over. This is a really great Christmas song. The song is in three, four times.
So 1, 2, 3. 1, 2, 3. 1- 2.
It's like a waltz. That's why when you play the song, you feel like you can kind of swing along to it. Now, this is a slightly more intermediate level, only because we have a bar chord. We have a B minor chord.
And if you go on my website, laurenbateman.com and you look up the chord chart for this song, I do have a diagram that shows how to do a slightly easier B minor chord if you're not quite up to a full bar chord yet. But the sign sounds really, really great with the full bar chord. So there's a lot of strumming that's going along in this song. So. So like I said, we're in three, four time, but we're actually doing eighth note strumming.
So it's 1 and 2 and 3 and 1 and 2 and 3 and 1and 2 and 3 and 1.
And we're really accenting that downbeat on the one.
1 and 2 and 3 and 1, 2 and 3 and 1 and 2and 3 and 1 and 2 and 3and 1 and 2 and 3 and 1 & 2 and 3 and so we.
Really want to accent the. That first note is. It gives a real kind of drive and feel to the song. So I think each chord is two measures. So this is.
Christmas.
And what have you.
Done? I lined their four measures, so each chord is going to be four.
Measures. So it's going to be 1 and 2 and 3 and 1 and 2 and 3 and 1, 2 and 3 and 1 and 2, 3 and 1 and 2.
And.
And you really get that feel, that waltz that kind of belongs to this song. So let's go over the chord progression. So we're playing each chord. It sounds like four measures each. We're gonna start on an A chord, A major, followed by B minor, followed by an E major, followed by A major.
Followed by D major.
E minor.
A major and D. That is our verse and the chorus. Chorus is going to be.
G.
A, E minor and D. So not really too complicated chords. Other than that, B minor does pop in. And let me check and make sure there's no other surprises that I can see of. Nope, there is the outro. And the outro is just the repeat of the first four chords, which is A, B minor, E and A. And that's that part.
That'S.
Over.
Now.
I think that's where all the kids come chime in and start singing. So that is the entirety of this song. It's not really that difficult of a song. It's just. There's a lot of strumming. But unfortunately you get to stay on these chords for a long time. So if you are just learning a B minor chord, it gives you some time to really get into it. So it's a great song for practicing B minor and staying on chords. So let's go through this again. I'm just going to.
Do. I'll.
Do. Let's see. I can do the. I'll do the second verse in chorus this time and we'll go through.
It. So we got 1, 2, 3, 1.
2. So this is.
Christmas.
And more strong.
Rich as a poor one.
The world is so wrong.
Don'T have me Christmas.
Black and for white.
Yellow and red one.
Let'S stop of the vine.
A very merry Christmas.
And a happy new year.
This hope is a good one.
Without.
Anything.
And there you have it. That is War Is over by John Lennon. Again, if you want the chord chart, go to my website. Again. Also, if you're having any trouble with the strumming patterns, you can always check out my guitar course on my website too. I do a lot of different strumming patterns on there as well that you can use in some of these songs that I'm teaching online or even to some of the chord charts that I don't have video tutorials for yet on my website. So I hope you guys enjoyed this video lesson and I'll see you in the next video.
