Lauren Bateman, in a short YouTube video, names Melissa Etheridge as her favorite guitar player, praising Etheridge's rhythm guitar skills, energetic live performances, and ability to use dynamics and embellishments on acoustic guitar to keep listeners engaged. Bateman describes Etheridge as a major inspiration for her own playing.
My favorite guitar player is Melissa Etheridge. I love Melissa Etheridge. From a rhythm guitar playing standpoint. If you've ever seen her live, she just has so much energy and what she can do with the guitar to keep it entertaining. It could be just her playing an acoustic guitar, and she can put in so many dynamics and embellishments and different things that it keeps you entertained. The highs, the lows, the energy. It's just amazing what she can do with acoustic guitar. And I find that super inspiring as a player, and that is who I absolutely love for guitar.
