Perfect Play Along Guitar Lesson by Ed Sheeran Play Along with Lauren Bateman

Lauren Bateman's YouTube play-along for Ed Sheeran's 'Perfect' provides a full-speed (slowed slightly) performance intended for players to follow along. Key practical notes: place a capo on the 1st fret; the song uses four main chords (G, Em, C, D) played relative to the capo; the basic strumming is in 6/8 counted as six down-strums. The video is not the detailed lesson — a separate lesson link and printable chord sheet are referenced. The video also demonstrates a fingerpicking variation without a pick.

Hey everybody, welcome back. We are doing.
The play along video for Ed Sheeran's perfect. This is not the lesson video. If you want to learn how to play the actual song, the different strumming patterns and such, you can go to the link below this video. Also, if you want the question, go to laurenbaba.com there's also a link below this video that you can go and get this printed out so that you can follow along with me and see where I'm at. So the song does have a capo on the first fret. So make sure you get that set up or you won't be sounding the same as me. You'll be sounding a little bit different. We'll be out of key. And this song, four simple chords. Overall, it's not a hard song to play. There is a walk down that pops in. But if you don't know how to do the walk down, go to the lesson video and watch or don't play it. Let the bass player play it and jump back in. So the chords we have are G, E minor, C and D. My four simple chords. The only weird thing is we have a capo and all you're going to do is play the chords relative to the capo. So G chord, D minor, C and D. All those chords. Strumming pattern is six, eight. So we'll be counting as six. We'll be using just six. Six down strums. We're going to keep this first time through simple. It's not a super fast song so I'll slow it down a little but I'm not going to slow it down a lot. But we're just going to use all down strums, counting to six. So let's take it from the intro. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.

Couple little lyric mistakes there, but there you go. That's the song. I mean, that's about the speed of the song. It's not a super fast song. So to make this a little bit more challenging, I'm going to remove the pick. Talked about some different ways you could finger pick this song in the actual lesson video. So I'm gonna do a little bit of that here. I won't get too crazy, but I will do some strumming with my fingers as well to just add some dynamics. But I just want to show you a different way to play it that's maybe a little bit more difficult than just doing down strums. So here we go. We're gonna start with the intro. Ready?
Here we go.
