Lauren Bateman recounts her early YouTube days when she personally handled all production tasks (editing, thumbnails, audio/visual) because she lacked funds to hire help. She emphasizes investing in yourself—especially time and effort—to learn necessary skills, arguing there is no magic pill: progress requires active work, not passive consumption.
Let's go back to YouTube. In the beginning I had to do the editing, I had to do the thumbnails. I do everything under the sun and people like how do you know how to do all this shit? Google YouTube. I had to learn how to do it. I had to teach myself how to do it because I didn't have the money to hire a video editor to go and edit video. I didn't have the money to bring in an audio visual team. I had to go out and invest in myself. And that's not money. It could be time. I had invest the time to learn the skills I needed to level up my game in this world. So if you're looking for that magic pill, it might not be there. The magic pill is you. You are the person who has to put in the work. You can work with the best coaches but if you sit on the couch and watch TV, nothing's going to happen.
